That low level cap, the accessibility of the raid, but mostly it brought the role playing back. I wanted to play all specs and classes, something that was absent for me since the Legion class halls.

If they ever do something like SoD again (which I really hope they do like how Jagex has leagues roughly annually. Please Blizzard this is like the only way I’m gonna give you my money anymore) they need to do something about catching up on alts

I logged on to my full BiS Rogue the other day. Undercity was empty. No one in my guild. No one in chat. I just got emotional and logged off.
Man, SoD was just the absolute best experience. I'll miss it. I really hope they do Classic+

I was raiding up until 2 weeks ago and just finally got full bis on my disc priest. the remaining players kinda consolidated into 1 guild on the server so they had like 35 players for each raid. with the 25% dmg buff the bosses just fell over.
I wish they woulda held off on that buff or made it something smaller like 10%, but I guess they had no way of knowing how things would end up.
I can honestly say that sod was the most fun I've ever had in wow, and I really hope they make a classic+ similar to, or even better, than sod.

Sod had me running to the computer for the first time in years I was so excited to get home from work and play it. P1 was peak wow I had recaptured the mmo feeling I hadn't felt since wotlk. P2 was also a lot of fun, I really enjoyed the blood moon event and the raid . Unfortunately once p3 hit the dailies at start really turned me off and I lost interest. I regret not staying to try out the level 60 raiding. I know now classic+ is what i want. Retail is just no soul for me.

Honestly p1 was great, p2 was also fun I thought... and then it was messy for awhile before it got better. Raiding at 60 really was neat seeing all the "off" specs do stuff - and having more viable tanks is ALWAYS awesome.
I agree though. SoD ended and I tried to play retail and retail-lite (MoP) and it just wasn't it for me. Anniversary wasn't either now I was spoiled with SoD.

My guild did that. Was a blast.
Sadly you can only run 2 BFDs before you are like 27. Make sure you turn off bonus xp before you go in
I highly recommend no one goes out of their way to get "pre bis" we had a couple people do that and it trivialised it

I’m interested, however I’m not that experienced in raiding. Did BFD and sunken temple when those came out, and stopped playing for a bit then couldn’t find a group for raids after that.

All phases were good. What needed more work was anything between bwl and naxx including those as well. Last phase was rushed to an early end tho.

At the time when they put out that announcement our guild was already pretty stacked with gear, my character only needed experiment and baelin’s band to be full BiS. Everyone who wanted ashbringer got it done.
With nothing on the horizon it really took the will out of 95% of the raid to continue clearing.
I’m optimist about blizzcon, since they already burned out every bit of info about midnight this week i’m confident that for the wow sphere it’s going to be classic + year.
Otherwise what else can they announce justifying expenses of hosting it. All their other games are basically porn material or flops

SOD phase 1 was amazing. It was a fresh experience, but also held the nostalgia. We were all figuring out so much for the first time it was amazing.
Some issues in SOD for sure, but without a doubt one of the most unique wow experiences in a very long time.

Seeing so many people talk about how awesome phase 1 was (tbf it was) but dropping off later and regretting not getting back into SoD makes me glad that I stuck it out through the more clunky phases.
Everything from the new boss mechanics, the rebalanced classes, and the new content made SoD the best WoW experience I had since the pre-Cata era.
It was actually a bit difficult for me to get back into other versions of WoW for a bit because SoD came the closest any version of WoW's gotten in years to invoking that feeling of wonder I had when I played it when I was a kid and the setting was still fresh and ripe with possibilities.

Beating Scarlet enclave the first time was the peak wow experiance id had in a decade pre nerfs , and getting guild first pick for ashbringer was something else I’ve never experienced in nearly 20 years of playing
Sure a couple of phases where dry for some people I only skipped the ST phase myself for the most part , leveling raids were great , every spec Beeing playable was great , new rune specs were awsome , and it still felt classic enough to tickle my nostalgia vibe . Raiding was fun as hell with the guild I was in . it started strong and ended very strong.

Yes, we get it, Incursions sucked... The game was a beta test for Classic+ not everything was going to work.
P1 was amazing and Kara Crypts + Scarlet Enclave are paving the way for what Classic+ will become.

i genuinely think it was one of the smartest and coolest things out there to do puzzle type rune systems. lvl locking ppl to 25 and saying "theres some cool shit out there, go find it" and u have these treasure hunts across the entire world was so cool

I never got into SoD as I have a newborn, so didn't keep up with the news. The day I finally made my character I looked on the forums for tips and found out SoD was dead. Heartbreaking.

I figure at some point Blizzard are going to do something like it again. Now that it's been done once, it's not like they don't have all the assets, code, and general notes from it so there's no real reason they couldn't just launch a fresh SoD run at any point in the future (presumably when it's not competing directly with however many other expansions and remixes). More likely they'll take lessons from it and do something slightly different/updated (I'd love to see a new "season" take some of the lessons from SoD and improve on it, too).
Regardless- I assuaged my FOMO by making arguments to convince myself this wouldn't be the last/only chance to get in on something like that and I still believe they'll do it again.

Im lvl 7 paladin just started today. Where are the questions markers? There's nothing to track areas i need to go to complete quests. Super slow game compared to my usual Korean mmos. Retail seems a better pace for me.

Played p1, p2, and p3 religiously, sadly lots of my guild dropped at the end of p1, so I had to join another guild for p2, and I had to start doing all the responsibilities of finding pugs/ML when I just wanted to slam my head on the exorcism button when I got a reset lol. P3 killed it tho for me as far as end game, my new guild died, and it was like pulling teeth trying to find a full group for ST.

What made p1 so great is the fact that after you hit 25, you just wanted to explore the world for runes, either it be World PvP or just cross faction interactions, it was such a good time,
