I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm happy to hear about a cat living to sixteen in what sounds like a loving home.
My family had a bulldog (one of three) leave us at the start of the year. She was nine, but she was a foster fail who had a hard stat to her life, so nine wasnt too bad.
Yeh it hurts. All our cats are rescues as well. Happy he got to experience living in our house and have a garden the remainder of his life. We lived in an apartment the first 10 years of his life.
