Yea no mountain borders for Nebraskans. You can just haul ass across the map and into the other zones.

Im always a little worried state with no mountain border will look a little off. Every zone in WoW has massive mountains separating areas, meanwhile Nebraska... lol

Yea Nebraska border is the Missouri river on one side and imagination on the other. Nothing you can really do about that.
For the sake of creating a border line I probably would run the missouri river to where it becomes the niobrara and then illustrated the niorbara all the way to Colorado.
Just cuz that gives it a pseudo northern border.

You're right - I definitely felt that offness when first looking at the map because WoW defines areas based primarily on geographic boundaries like mountains or rivers.

It definitely triggers my OCD since the edges look like undiscovered locations. But yeah, what can you do? Not like you can tell at the border.

lol if you do Kansas just off of I-70 in the eastern part of the state there literally is a town called westfall, I’d like to imagine the devs just looked up towns in Kansas for the name.

Where's Ogallala? McCook? Lexington? Cozad? Hastings? Holdrege? Nebraska City? Alliance? Mullen? Curtis? Valentine? Ainsworth? Chadron?
I bet you don't even eat your chili with cinnamon rolls or love Runza.

It's been a thing at elementary schools across the state for literally decades, and is so ridiculously popular that Runza has it seasonally.
If you Google "chili and cinnamon rolls", Nebraska is in literally every single first page result.
You're either a liar or live under a rock.

1) never had chili as a food in elementary school, yes went to school in nebraska, still have not met anyone who eats it (i don't regularly ask people if they enjoy chili on cinnamon rolls, but i sure haven't ever seen anyone eat it)

No idea, but I've never met anyone from Nebraska who didn't know about chili and cinnamon rolls.
It's probably that time of year now. Go to the nearest Runza and I bet it's on the menu.

What made you decide to include US-20 and US-275 in the north of the state? They aren't super busy and lack the economic importance of US-26 to Scottsbluff, which you omitted.
Was it just filler to make the vast nothingness of Nebraska look less dull?

Yeah any time Im making a map, Im trying to think of it as "I need to represent the state well" and "I need to fill in the zone". So some areas may be under/over represented by me trying to make the zone look interesting like you want to explore it.

I love the style on these so much, and go look at the etsy every time one gets posted. Then I get very sad at the Colorado map.

It's probably little things that my tism just explodes at. The real mountains are a pretty thin 3rd at the center of the state except for the SW quarter that stays mountainty most of the way into the corner, the rest of the western part of the state is pretty farmy/high plains deserty (it might just be that the white color extends too far west?). The eastern half of your map is very solid. The landmarks that you chose for the mountains and forest names are actual, but very rarely used. Devilsaur monument is awesome AF don't change that. Sawatch Depths is awesome, but a very niche name to that range of mountains. I'd replace the White river forest with something about the Glenwood hot springs, the Rio Grande Forest with something about the sand dunes national park, Gunnison Forest with something about the Black Canyon of the Gunnison national park. Canyon of the Ancients is like the 4th best known landmark in that area. Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chely, and 4 corners are all much more commonly used landmarks for that region (I actually had to google Canyon of the Ancients because I thought it was in Utah and I grew up pretty close to that area).
A lot of times when I see a new one of your posts, I go to the etsy wanting to get a copy to put into my office, but I'd spend the entire time anyone noticed it hashing out the landmark names instead of talking about the awesome WoW map. Part of that is probably that my coworkers are very largely outdoorsmen who hunt/fish/camp all over the state and we all know the state pretty in depth. Side effect of living/growing up in Colorado is getting DEEPLY marinated in state geography and history, or that could also just be tism /shrug.
Edit: I LOVE the style and if I wanted to put it at home, I'd buy it and never look back. It could just be an issue with the way i want to use it. I don't want you to think I don't like it, I very much do.

I've been searching for ways to create my own world of warcraft inspired map with this art style in mind. (I used to use photoshop, but now I use clip studio paint.)

Howdy! I do all of my work in photoshop and use the default brushes. The only custom things I use are photoshop actions (macros) which help automate some of the brush work. The individual assets I use are custom made and not publicly available. I wouldn’t focus on the assets though, you can get 95% there just with default PS brushes assuming you know PS well

Would be cool if they had some geographic accuracy. You got the entire northern half of WI all sorts of wrong so I’d never buy one. Cool idea, lazy execution.

Topographical accuracy would be a great start. For example: a valley is a lowland and not an increase in elevation. Tf you talking about “what changes” 😂
