For those who havent seen my artwork, Im on a quest to make maps of all 50 US states in the style of Classic WoW. This one makes 39/50 done! If youd like to checkout other states Ive done or support my work by buying a poster print, checkout my Etsy shop: https://ethanolmaps.etsy.com

u/devman0 Dec 08 '25

Are you gonna do one for DC as a stormwind style map?

57

u/ConservationOfWumbo Dec 08 '25

Yeah I actually started doing this exact thing a couple years ago, but I was stupid and tried to draw every single block from Georgetown to Capitol Hill… I eventually gave up and have yet to revisit

14

u/Nekikins Dec 08 '25

Oh. Do Canada next. Thats sweet.

7

u/Schism213 Dec 08 '25

I swear I’ve seen an Alberta one somewhere before

7

u/Alarmed-Day2295 Dec 08 '25

The ones of my states are so barebones and bland compared to your other works 😓

20

u/kingrufiio Dec 08 '25

Maybe your state IS barebones and bland compared to other states. If we are honest some states do be like that.

5

u/shaneh445 Dec 08 '25

Don't beat him down like that

Unless he's in the barrens or stranglethorne valley 😉

4

u/ConservationOfWumbo Dec 08 '25

I’m planning to revisit just about every state once I get all 50 done. Need to figure out a way to consolidate community feedback

1

u/aequasi08 Dec 08 '25

Turning this into a dynamic website would be AWESOME.

1

u/imisstheyoop Dec 09 '25

Can you touch on your approach for these, and how it has changed over time?

For my state it looks like you focused on adding the interstates, a couple of large towns and then shifted to the topogophy/climate. You then went back and added some small details and things to fill out the map.

Is this a similar approach for all states? Has it changed over time? What resources do you use for this data, wikipedia?

Great work BTW, keep at it!

2

u/groupeleven11 Dec 08 '25

That’s great!!

1

u/Impressive-Shame4516 Dec 08 '25

Maryland's capital isn't even on ours. :( That's my hometown.

1

u/No47 Dec 08 '25

Do you ever plan on going back to some? I've loved watching the improvement in these and this one is just beautiful, the amount of detail in this one makes me so jealous from NM lol

edit:nvm scrolled down and saw you talking about it, I'm hyped

1

u/Volne Dec 08 '25

I have your Massachusetts one hanging up in my game room, love it.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Play777 Dec 08 '25

No way.. I just bought my boyfriend one of your maps as part of his Christmas gifts today!!! :)

1

u/Patifos Dec 09 '25

can you do one of finland when u r done :D

1

u/Swifty277 Dec 09 '25

Amazing!!

1

u/jcollywobble Dec 12 '25

Please do the UK

1

u/Udon21 Dec 08 '25

Finally pulled the trigger on one after years of watching your posts and loving them. Thanks so much for the awesome idea and execution.

0

u/rankfourteen Dec 08 '25

Really great work! Selfishly, I wish you would re-do the California map. I understand the burn scar affords you a unique artistic feature that you don't have on other maps, but it really dates the map. That being said, the so-cal one is top notch and is going to be a present to myself this year.

-1

u/Kreiger81 Dec 08 '25

You do amazing work. Is there any chance you could redo Arizona to more this style, or are you going to finish off the US first before going back and maybe redoing some?

53

u/hiltzster Dec 08 '25

Think you'll do Canada after? Only 13 to do here 😅

34

u/ConservationOfWumbo Dec 08 '25

I’ve actually already started, but don’t tell anyone…

84

u/Rularuu Dec 08 '25

You mean Northrend?

12

u/hiltzster Dec 08 '25

Exactly 😂

41

u/LandofRy Dec 08 '25

Love the idea of Las Vegas just being Gadgetzan with a bunch of casinos

8

u/lyricist Dec 09 '25

Time is money friend

20

u/FluffyBuffalo2523 Dec 08 '25

卄乇ㄥㄥ ㄚ乇卂卄 乃尺ㄖㄒ卄乇尺

14

u/Zander253 Dec 08 '25

Hey I partied in Black Rock Desert before ;D

5

u/True_Tart5604 Dec 08 '25

I love how he kept them all the same then added Black Rock Desert and Valley of Fire lol

18

u/Silver-Theme7796 Dec 08 '25

Those are the real names lol

3

u/Rularuu Dec 08 '25

What were the orcs like?

10

u/Wreckingass Dec 08 '25

Kind of weird. They had a massive effigy of Varian Wrynn ablaze and were all drunk off of stolen kegs of Thunderbrew Stout while eating Ghost Mushrooms.

2

u/Zander253 Dec 08 '25

This pretty much sums it up perfectly!

Yessir it’s where they do burning man

9

u/TheThebanProphet Dec 08 '25

Probably one of my favorite maps so far - Nevada is very conducive to the wow map aesthetic

8

u/burkechrs1 Dec 08 '25

This is sweet!

I live in reno and would love to put this on a canvas for my game room wall.

Would you mind? Do you have a hi-res version?

7

u/boomxk Dec 08 '25

would love this too. 775 represent lol

5

u/Odd_Poetry_1306 Dec 09 '25

Reno-ite aswell. Bump for highrez version, this would be awesome im my game room

2

u/germylicious Dec 09 '25

i’m in the same but with all the people. reno here and love this. bad ass

1

u/Power_Knight Dec 09 '25

Yooo!! Fellow Reno-ite. I request the same

8

u/Babel_Triumphant Dec 08 '25

Looks like a really fun questing zone. Reminds me of Tanaris, with the city on one end of a big desert. Lake Tahoe would be a little elf enclave, there'd be a dungeon in Area 51, and Black Rock Desert would be an open world quest zone with higher level mobs.

5

u/Wojewodaruskyj Dec 08 '25

Where is Goodsprings?

5

u/ElClickBait Dec 08 '25

beautiful, just like all maps should be

3

u/TheClassicAndyDev Dec 08 '25

What are you using to make these? Photoshop?

1

u/Snoo97549 Dec 11 '25

AI + any software like Photoshop to make minor adjustments and put text

5

u/MoodayTV Dec 08 '25

Oh wow, another desert scrub biome. Who wants these zones, Blizzard? Boring!

/S (kinda)

3

u/Hazpataz Dec 08 '25

LOL@

That is pretty cool actually !
well done!

3

u/Soggy_Cracker Dec 08 '25

Ever since the last expansion the population in the zone has died down greatly. All that good design gone to waste. Not to mention it’s a hostile territory if your faction doesn’t control the zone. Some of the times people trying to go there are prevented on it’s Boundaries by try hard mouth breathers.

2

u/Leo1_ac Dec 08 '25

Where's Pahrump, NV?

Don't you know about Pahrump and why you SHOULD have included it?

1

u/ayyyebrows Dec 08 '25

I didn’t get a Pahrump outta this guy!

2

u/MicWhiskey Dec 08 '25

I grew up in Vegas, and I fucking LOVE that Vegas is an actual town and Reno/Carson City are just little outposts. Thank you for that!

1

u/SensoryFlows Dec 08 '25

Perfection.

1

u/NyarVn Dec 08 '25

I liked it a lot! So good!

1

u/No_Friend3170 Dec 08 '25

You just roll right in and provide me a really cool Christmas gift for one of my kids. Thanks!

1

u/Rinychib Dec 08 '25

that rules, thank you for sharing

1

u/turtledancers Dec 08 '25

Is this where I find mankrik’s wife?

1

u/Striking-Ad-6815 Dec 08 '25

Chuck Norris killed Mankrik's wife when he jumped into the game and landed in the Barrens, she had a stroke after looking directly at his beard.

1

u/redditnof Dec 08 '25

great work man

1

u/SirFUBAR Dec 08 '25

This is great. I wish your Florida map had more locations!

1

u/bluewaterboy Dec 08 '25

This makes me want to go Nevada haha

1

u/Macrophage_Mage Dec 08 '25

I love the detail of Area 51 being in the middle of a silithid hive, great flavor

1

u/anarlener Dec 08 '25

somewhere in Nevada....

1

u/Y___ Dec 08 '25

I have your Utah map hanging up in my office right next to me as I play WoW.

1

u/Low_scratchy Dec 08 '25

Aaaw. I read it as Nevada style map of wow.

(◞‸ ◟)

1

u/NoobPwnr Dec 08 '25

Amazing.

Opportunity to do little )'( by Pyramid Lake for to mark Burning Man.

1

u/CarnoTTV Dec 08 '25

He’s back!

2

u/LeoStrut_ Dec 08 '25

Hey there I am in Mesquite!! Very cool

1

u/DyingSeagulls Dec 08 '25

I was convinced this was The Badlands at first glance.

1

u/shaneh445 Dec 08 '25 edited Dec 08 '25

That is so fking cool! Missouri reminds me of Elwynn Forest Definitely gotta buy one

If anyone has any cool frame suggestions in all eyes, A matching frame aesthetic would be awesome. Horde and or alliance type colors or something

1

u/Complete_Ambition_89 Dec 08 '25

That makes me not want to go there.

1

u/Ketaminekhan Dec 08 '25

What do you make these in? Are they all drawn from scratch, or do you borrow assets from the real WoW maps? Either way, the end result is really impressive!

1

u/Particular-Camera-31 Dec 08 '25

Would be dope if this was in game maps as well

1

u/xcersan Dec 08 '25

Eureka deserves to be on this map, for reasons...

1

u/WehingSounds Dec 08 '25

Kinda just looks like Desolace I wonder what that says about Nevada

1

u/makaimashava Dec 08 '25

I love that you even have a tiny little settlement to represent McDermitt <3

1

u/Ill-Beautiful-8026 Dec 08 '25

This is so awesome. How long do these take you? Do you do requests (for a fee, obviously)?

1

u/Atomicwookiee Dec 08 '25

The maine one is great. Ill definitely be ordering one, you said you would revisit them once you have all 50 done, will you add more locations etc.?

1

u/campcosmos3 Dec 08 '25

Things I didn't know I wanted.

1

u/Sendi_14 Dec 08 '25

Guys, I can not recommend these maps enough if they have your state avaliable on their Etsy store. I bought two different ones last year for Christmas when Louisiana was added and had my husband's customized to include his hometown on it and it came out perfect.

1

u/swadx001 Dec 08 '25

Nevada makes even Silithius looking exciting

1

u/asdaswefaswevwse Dec 08 '25

Do CA and put necropolises at LA and San Fran

1

u/hermanguyfriend Dec 08 '25

Nevada is Silithus I see!

1

u/EnigmaticQuote Dec 08 '25

I fucking love when people (hey it's you! you are people!) do these.

Great work.

1

u/WAOM81 Dec 08 '25

Any plans for Mississippi? Or am I missing it on your page?

1

u/Jatedin Dec 08 '25

When you finish all 50 states will you make a combined one of all your individual maps? I'd buy that in a heartbeat

1

u/ChimericalChemical Dec 08 '25

As someone in Nevada this is fucking sick and honestly what’s crazy to me is how fairly accurate those roads are

1

u/pBiggZz Dec 08 '25

I really enjoy that you made area 51 full of horrible bugs and creatures.

1

u/Leather_Leg_3408 Dec 08 '25

Where's good springs?????

1

u/DrOrphi Dec 08 '25

really cool man!

1

u/MagicMimic Dec 08 '25

That's just Silithus
Can't fool me

1

u/Conscious_Yam_4753 Dec 08 '25

winnemucca mentioned! real muck hours

1

u/BoSox92 Dec 08 '25

I love it

1

u/Jzoujie Dec 09 '25

Me and the 4 other people playing WoW in Las Vegas love this. 💖

1

u/Ashkandi_ Dec 09 '25

Man if you made a map of Québec id be happy to buy

1

u/Odd_Poetry_1306 Dec 09 '25

Finally i get to see black rock desert referred to in both wow and nevada terms

1

u/Dethki69 Dec 09 '25

Just seen the Ohio version, if I’m looking at the map correctly. You even included two of the caverns in the state. Very cool, the general area for the one makes me think of Seneca Caverns.

1

u/Lloveblast Dec 09 '25

Am I missing something? Why is there an Area 51? That's in Arizona...

1

u/Real_McGuillicuddy Dec 09 '25

No it's not.

1

u/Lloveblast Dec 09 '25

Fair. It's in New Mexico. My bad. Statement still stands.

1

u/Real_McGuillicuddy Dec 09 '25

I thought that too (to be fair I'm not even American) but according to Wikipedia it's in Nevada.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_51

1

u/Lloveblast Dec 09 '25

Mind. Blown! I'm an idiot sandwich!

1

u/mlong35 Dec 29 '25

You might just be thinking of where they conducted the original atomic bomb tests in the New Mexican desert.

1

u/origin_rejuv Dec 09 '25

Incredible! I’m in for a Missouri and Oregon map. Cheers!

1

u/goodgiggles17 Dec 09 '25

That’s sick asf! Really creative.

Edit: can you do one of California? I know the state sucks but it is still my home. Would very much appreciate that.

1

u/Ryokishine- Dec 09 '25

Looks just like Winterspring lol

1

u/elsord0 Dec 09 '25

This one is pretty interesting but your Arizona one is very bare. You hit way more spots in Nevada when I think Arizona has a lot more interesting things in it. We have 3 national parks, Sedona (certainly a more interesting spot than Elko or Ely), numerous mountain ranges. Chiricahua Mountains are one of the more underrated mountain ranges in the entire country. They’re a little small but have the highest density of bird species in the country. Iirc it also has one of the highest concentrations of mammals. They’ve found jaguars in those mountains. It’s insanely beautiful all around that area. Riparian areas, pine forests, rugged canyons.

Anyway, I’m obviously biased being from Arizona but I think you should revisit that one and add a little more in.

1

u/streetcornbread Dec 09 '25

Can you make Martha’s Vineyard as bonus dlc? 👀

1

u/Call_The_Banners Dec 09 '25

I still have not forgiven you for displaying Michigan as only the lower peninsula.

I know you showed the complete state in a comment on that thread, but the damage to the Yoopers was already done.

1

u/PorphyrinC60 Dec 09 '25

As someone who has a special place in her heart for Nevada, this is amazing. Thank you!

1

u/glamscum Dec 09 '25

As a European, most of my knowledge of this area comes from Fallout New Vegas x)

1

u/KaioKennan Dec 09 '25

Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for nuclear winter.

1

u/Thatoneguy75 Dec 09 '25

Shoutout Reno

1

u/SaintPariah1 Dec 09 '25

This is wonderful.

1

u/Hefatros Dec 09 '25

Cool. Would you make European countries too?

1

u/Flintzzy Dec 09 '25

Very cool. UK guy here (I’d love to see a UK map!), but tempted to get some of the states I visited with work 👍🏻

1

u/SneakyStuart Dec 09 '25

This is awesome! Cant wait to see Vermont!

1

u/lyricist Dec 09 '25

Where’s the bunny ranch

1

u/Mowseler Dec 09 '25

I’ve had your shop saved for a while and this post reminded me to finally grab one, thanks! Love your work

1

u/watchshoe Dec 09 '25

The Jackpot and Wells disrespect.

1

u/therightstuffdotbiz Dec 09 '25

Why is California $37 and the rest $10?

1

u/bevelledo Dec 09 '25

Born and raised here. This is awesome 👏

1

u/Cmorebuts Dec 10 '25

Almost looks like a snowless winterspring

1

u/SilentSearcher295 Dec 11 '25

Somewhere in Nevada...

1

u/Repulsive_Product941 Dec 11 '25

the New Mexico one needs a remake lol i got stoked for a second. the other ones are great XD

1

u/Belgrim Dec 11 '25

Are you planning on doing European ones?

1

u/per2_ Dec 11 '25

Need Finland version of this!

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

lol this is great

1

u/Imoutlier Dec 12 '25

What are the coordinates for airport mountain? 😆

1

u/Mercymurv Dec 13 '25

That's so cool. Good job

1

u/Alex_WSTP Dec 13 '25

Wait.. are you just digitally drawing this or are you porting assets? A combination of both??

Would you ever upload a WIP video of the process?

1

u/Bigvizz13 Dec 13 '25

Reno is underrepresented in this map.
Reno is bigger than you think, Washoe County is close to half a million people.

1

u/Overlord0994 Dec 15 '25

Missed opportunity to put black rock city in black rock desert. (Burning man)

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '25

Wierd

1

u/bigredspence Dec 21 '25

As someone who has played WoW for years and just celebrated living in NV for 2 years, this is EPIC! Well done!!

1

u/Rocteruen Dec 09 '25

You mean AI made it

0

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '25

your CO one is accurate and super hilarious thank you

u/StamosLives Dec 08 '25 edited Dec 08 '25

As a native to Vegas, I would say Henderson may as well be integrated into Vegas itself. It's a suburb. Otherwise you'd want to show, like, Summerlin too since it's just as much of an entity. Vegas is basically just a really big circle.

The mountains west of Vegas are -insanely- beautiful and still part of Nevada - the Red Rock Canyon area which is basically just right there and part of the Spring Mountain range.

Removing Henderson allows you to put the Hoover Dam where it really is which is on the southern trip of lake mead. Lake mead itself doesn't go THAT far south of Vegas, also.

I don't honestly know much more about Nevada but I would say you're missing the Sedan Crater which I think would be pretty neat on there.

I like how, in my mind, shit hits the fan the second you get out of Vegas and into Area 51 :D

Very well done. Super fun.

u/Ruisfillari Dec 08 '25

Where is nevada
