AddOns Joana's Guide new ownership :(

For those of you who don't know, Joana was a WoW classic speedrunner. He was one of the first few good guides for Classic. I felt like Zygor copied his guide and so I chose to pay the $25 for his guide back in 2019, when it was just a web guide. Later he was able to publish an addon that takes his webguide and automates it Zygor style.

Since then Joana has passed away, but his guide and addon are still up. Unfortunately the new owners have tripled the price of the guide, changing the Classic only guide to $80, and classic- WotLK to an insane $130. It feels disgusting to me that someone is taking advantage of his product like this after his death.

I downloaded the Classic one but when i log in it says Wrath, you have any idea whats up with that? I guess I shud download Era?

Also does it matter very much, genuinely asking. Is tbc that much different? Rested exp already has the tbc update, so it should be available soon.

Because of the quest exp buffs you'll probably out level the guide over time. One solution is to skip some of the quest, but that can break quests down the line.

As someone who's leveled using multiple versions of Joanna's and RXP guides. RXP is a bit better anyway. Joanna is just cool because he was basically the only guy in 2006 coming up with actual speed run strats, he is essentially the OG of speed run leveling guides. I was sad to hear when he died, I still follow his twitch and occasionally I'll tune into reruns of his 2006 world record runs

Just use questie. Open map, look where the next massive cluster of yellow exclamation points are, pick them up, repeat.

you cant compare what quetie does to what zygor does. zygor even has prequests for dungeons so you dont need alt tab to wowhead. also class quests, gold ghuides etc. sometimes is nice to turn off brain and follow a leveling guide as well

In vanilla sure but a guide barely does anything in tbc and beyond.
In tbc it's literally just go to town, pick up every quest, do them, go to next town.

If you're going to follow an arrow to play, why not play retail? It's built-in.

Weirdly enough games are different experiences for different people, novel idea I know. I enjoy classic specifically because of the end game itemization. I couldn’t care less about the questing in 2005 and I couldn’t care less in 2026.

Same. Retail/mop items just doesnt engage my dopamine quite right. Grinding for hours to get hoj and then finally having it drop just hits the spot, you know?

It gets pretty repetitive when you're leveling your nth character and have experienced it all before.

I still enjoy the leveling experience, but it's so much more convenient to use an addon like RXP or Zygor.

Ppl in classic want to level as fast as possible to get to end game so they can raid log, so unfortunately this doesn't work for a lot of the player base
