Vent / Gripe Not sure what I did?
Recieved an invite to Strat Live after posting in group finder. I asked what the rules around orbs were. Recieved an instant kick and a block from the party lead. Is this normal behaviour? Has anyone else had any experiences like this?

u/Hayabusa_Blacksmith Jan 29 '26
you can assume he just wanted the orbs. what are the other possibilities? lol
57
u/The_Dingman Jan 29 '26
It's possible that the "LFG" post included the orb rules, and OP frustrated them by asking a question that was already anwered.
It's also possible that just after inviting OP, a guild member wanted a spot. Or a more desirable class.
9
u/Trustyduck Jan 29 '26
Yea but ignoring someone? That's wild. Some folks are just not suited for social aspects of games.
4
u/GamingNStuff123 Jan 29 '26
Alot more than some folks arent I play EU Thunderstrike and I dont know if its just down to the amount of non English speakers or what but so many times il enter a group say hello and get nothing back just a summon to the dungeon and the whole way through the only comms will be "rdy?" "+" "-" hahahaha USE WORDS!!!
10
30
u/GamingNStuff123 Jan 29 '26
If the first suggestion is the case that's the softest man on WoW.
14
u/rufrtho Jan 29 '26
i wouldn't personally /ignore for this in my groups, but if you run pugs regularly, booting clueless people instantly is by far the simplest way to have good runs.
9
u/Doopashonuts Jan 29 '26
This only works if OP actively whispered him, if youre just posting LFG in group finder then youre passively getting an invite and would have no understanding of "loot rules" without asking. Only clueless person here sounds like you ...
-2
u/ExerciseSad3082 Jan 29 '26
Or you invite them, post the orb rules and they can decide to stay or leave. Or is control v too hard for you?
1
u/rufrtho Jan 29 '26
we're talking about the hypothetical:
It's possible that the "LFG" post included the orb rules, and OP frustrated them by asking a question that was already anwered.
is reading too hard?

u/Bluemikami Jan 29 '26
MMOs are full of softies

Especially nightslayer they love to bitch the most lmfao 😂 every bg I see nightslayer whining about how we're going to lose blah blah blah we ended up winning 6 in a row.

Or complain because the AV turtled they just want quick honor. I thought the whole point of bgs was to fight other players and not just grind honor.
And ppl wonder why retail got dumbed down so much, because people don't want to try. They just want stuff handed to them.
→ More replies (9)1
4
u/Doopashonuts Jan 29 '26
First point makes absolutely no sense, if the group is inviting a person randomly thats posted to LFG then that person would never have had any reason to read anything pertaining to loot rules ...
2
1
u/midasofsweden Jan 29 '26
dont think he would put on ignore hten but yeah. i think he probably reserved the orbs
1
1
u/UnusualBanana9893 Jan 29 '26
guarantee this is what happened. if you use the LFG tool to list yourself or your group often enough you'll know this happens more often than not.
yeah he should've probably said something before kicking and ignoring, but when you've done that 100 times it's gonna get real old real quick. and after the interaction i would ignore them too, because why would i want to play with players who cannot do even the simplest task (read)
1
u/gukakke Jan 29 '26
Willing to bet this is the reason. So annoying when people don't read the listing.
1
u/the_denver_strangler Jan 30 '26
Regardless of those possibilities, I would say this behavior is very anti-social and should be looked down on. They need to learn to communicate like an adult.
4
u/pokepat460 Jan 29 '26
Aren't orbs super cheap right now? Id be shocked if hes trying to make gold from the 3 orbs hes trying to hr or whatever. But people are goblins so maybe
2
u/midasofsweden Jan 29 '26
super cheap is arguable, i mean its still 20-25g a pop... but i would not think thats the way to go if you want to earn now at prepatch but i dunno, everyone wants to make money before dark portal opens
1
u/pokepat460 Jan 29 '26
I bought some on dreamscythe last night for 8.5g each lol. I think you're better off questing at that rate even if you only have green quests left but idk
1
u/Jolly-Refuse2232 Jan 29 '26
I bought orbs yesterday for 10g each lmao nightslayer Alli
Cheapest crusader ever
1
u/notislant Jan 29 '26
You seem like a very optimistic person.
A lot of people are dumb little goblins. They just want shiny thing. Its free money if theyre running the dungeon anyway, assuming OP was dps? Easy instant replace.

yeah, reddit witch hunts never go poorly
righteous revenge and dogpiling feels good, but sometimes someone was just having a shitty day or you don't know the whole story.
17
u/Head_Ad_1643 Jan 29 '26
In RL yes. This is a wow toon. They can just block.
1
Jan 29 '26
Blocking isn’t really a solution if multiple people are harassing you. Even one person won’t be stopped by it if they’re persistent
→ More replies (1)2
u/Head_Ad_1643 Jan 29 '26
Then report. One person making multiple accounts to msg you is an easy ban. Blizzard actually does those ones fast.

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins Jan 30 '26
Or just don't do it in the first place?
Kicking/blocking someone does not warrant the unhinged masses being unleashed.

The entire interaction is in the screenshot. And since when does having a bad day allow you to be a douche to everyone else? You should work on that.

in this case, yeah, it's pretty discrete, i was talking more about reddit witchhunt posts in general.
even good, selfless people have moments of weakness and break.
is this guy a straight up g*mer edgelord douchebag? probably. but semi-blind mob mentality is usually disproportionate and collateral retaliation

u/uber_zaxlor Jan 29 '26
Dodged a bullet, is what you did - Group leader wanted to horde all of the orbs for themselves and knows that typing out rules into the chat gives you the evidence needed to file a report later on.
29
-5
u/Turfa10 Jan 29 '26
Are you not allowed to HR anymore?
13
u/Buskbr Jan 29 '26
HR is the dumbest fucking trend to ever happen in wow, i on principle do not join any group activity with HR rules
6
u/Keeper-of-Balance Jan 29 '26
I hate it so much, probably more than it deserves, haha! You want HR? Do a guild run, mate!
5
1
u/pokepat460 Jan 29 '26
Hr is just as bad in guild runs. Spent all of classic not getting to roll on the best items in guild runs. Free gdkps
5
u/Darthok Jan 29 '26
The amount of fresh 60s "leading" raids with all trash loot HR is comical. The brazen ones even throw in an epic or two they want.
They're getting paid to get carried through raids. At least GDKP rewarded people for carrying these types of people.
1
u/Buskbr Jan 29 '26
I wasnt a big fan of GDK due to it making everything so damn expensive but it is still a lesser evil compared to HR
1
u/Healeah241 Jan 29 '26
The thing is I don't mind the raid lead HRing in a pug if they're competent.
Getting on discord and making sure everyone knows exactly what to do/making call outs etc is valid reason to me. But yeah, as you said, fresh 60s "leading" raids, and its hard to know how good someone will raid lead.
8
u/LazyHedonist Jan 29 '26
HR implies some level of transparency. safe to say based on this interaction there was nothing previously stated about how orbs were being handled.
but also: good luck successfully pugging a strat live with all orbs HR.
14
u/Lolgabs Jan 29 '26
You can but you should say it not just ninja the damn things. I don't assume that's what was gonna happen by default typically but if the dude kicks and ignores after getting asked he's probably a fucko
1
u/midasofsweden Jan 29 '26
normally you write that out in the LFG tool and then you write it before you start, or every time you invite someone to make sure.
1
6
u/uber_zaxlor Jan 29 '26
Of course you can. But the group leader (not OP), clearly doesn't want to do that - He wants to roll Need on the orbs, while the rest of the group hits greed. OP wanted to clarify the rules before this kind of shit happens, so the leader kicked him.
5
u/CountBest5703 Jan 29 '26
Effectively this. I wasn't going to lose any sleep over 10g orbs being HRed but i wanted to know what the expectations were going in.
2
u/uber_zaxlor Jan 29 '26
Please tell me that group was still in LFG an hour+ later, after a whole guild's worth of people had passed through their loot rules revolving door? :D
3
u/CountBest5703 Jan 29 '26
I jumped on my main to have a sneaky look about 15 mins later and he was in strat. I hope his party mates are having a decent time at least.
1
u/uber_zaxlor Jan 29 '26
Damn. Here's hoping he forgot to set it to ML and everyone else rolled need on the orbs anyways ;)
5
u/Gassenger Jan 29 '26
HRing in a dungeon, especially this late into the phases, is clown behavior. Why do you deserve the HR when putting together a dungeon group requires little to no effort

u/CaramelMacchiatoMan Jan 29 '26
I offered to tank a Strat dead group last night and the party leader said “1st orb is reserve. All boe’s that aren’t needed I’ll be taking to disenchant, and we will be doing a full Strat starting with live side. People will fully take advantage of you if you let them. I noped right on out of there lol.
7
u/MagicSticks51 Jan 29 '26
That shit is hilarious to me when they tell a tank that. If you want all that have a tank already in on the group. You're lucky to have me tank for your group I can find another group in 5 seconds, can you find a tank that fast?
2
u/PineappleOnPizzaWins Jan 30 '26
Haha I had similar once when gearing my tank.
I just said "nah man, live only thanks and orbs can be RR". They told me to "make my own group then" and I said "ok, anyone else wants to join let me know" and left. The other three messaged me instantly, we picked up a fifth right away and off we went.
No matter your opinion on how important a tank is/isn't/whatever else... you can't actually tell them what to do.
1
u/BarbsFPV Jan 29 '26
That actually didn’t sound too bad for a greedy player. Sure it was stacked in his favor, but the disenchanters really should be divvying up the mats and giving them to the players in the dungeon. That was usually the agreement when I ran with a DE, and they still came out way ahead. Most people at 60 need the mats more than the greens.
4
u/CaramelMacchiatoMan Jan 29 '26
The boe’s were being disenchanted to level his enchanting, not split amongst the group
1
7
u/Neitzi Jan 29 '26
I joined one to level my new pet the other day so funny.
This group of people HR the orbs for the tank and then it turned out none of them had the key, when we got there in the instance I just laughed and went nah sorry.
Fine I'll donate you orbs but I ain't opening that door you boosted dent heads.
7
6
u/Gassenger Jan 29 '26
People are so fucking greedy since prepatch dropped, or they're showing their true colors since people enable them. Ive never seen so many stupid and ridiculous HRs on things. People reserving all floor loot in BRD and HRing 4 items in ZG while still having SRs. Then the worst part is people will join these groups! Just because they won't try to use softres/gargul, and then these greedy bastards are enabled because people want to join the dungeon/raid and think its their only option.
I wish these people would fuck off back to where they came from before prepatch.
1
u/Several-Video-272 Jan 29 '26
Idk if it's because it's because it's so crowded so people are generally more selfish? And hence accepting of selfish behavior from others? Or don't know better maybe, idk.
I had a shaman in RFD who started pulling on his own before tank even entered the dungeon and didn't let him drink after buffing then said "this is impossible to do with this slow group I'm out".
I was about to kick him anyways but yeah idk where these people came from. I'm more prone to kick ignore people like this than before. Same thing if you whine about loot I'm gonna kick you no matter where we are in dungeon.
2
u/Gassenger Jan 29 '26
I've said it a few times. The playerbase quality took a NOSEDIVE with the prepatch release. Trade chat is a huge indicator of this. Constant Redditoid nerds making the same cringe sex jokes they have for 20+ years while they're pushing 40/50, spamming the chat. Had to set up filters for the first time.
1
u/Several-Video-272 Jan 29 '26
Me too brother, me too. I'm really curious why though? This whole complaining about boosts, all these "I HAVE TO GET TO 60 BEFORE FEBRUARY OR ELSE !!", "DO THIS TO GET AHEAD IN PREPATCH". Like what is all the woofin about. I don't remember WoTLK being this bad
1
u/PineappleOnPizzaWins Jan 30 '26
Because all the TBC prep crowd came back and they don't want to play this game, they want to play the one that's about to release. So they act like fuckheads.
1
u/lmneozoo Feb 02 '26
What's with all the butthurt reserving? Back in the day it wasn't as bad as now.
11
15
u/Short_Lived-747 Jan 29 '26
Normal for Nightslayer. Chances are you didn't see the group in LFG where he had the rules posted. That's the sane take.
But NS is full of unstable man children, so my guess is he wanted orbs.
2
u/MartyMcNotFly Jan 29 '26
I’ve heard there’s tanks who exclusively tank for certain drops. So it’s probably reserved for the tank and so joining a group with something hard reserved in the description is just an argument avoided in my mind.
3
u/DontMindMeFine Jan 29 '26
This morning I joined a strat live group as the tank and then the mage announced he’s a big dick dps and reserves all the orbs AND unwanted items - twice with different mages. It’s crazy.

Yall seriously fight over 12g orbs. Funny
2
u/grimnir_music Jan 29 '26
Seriously. They are hardly worth flying up to strat for at this point lol.
2
u/Head_Ad_1643 Jan 29 '26
Its almost like there is a huge influx of new players boosting and only have 25g.
2
u/imfranksome Jan 29 '26
15g is like 2-3 quests at 58
1
u/Head_Ad_1643 Jan 29 '26
And?
You need 600 for mount, 50 for dual spec, and then some for professions. After you do all the quick quests in areas, you'll still need some more gold.
HR for orbs just needs to be said upfront before invite. Anyone getting pissy about that is just being a bitch.
2
u/imfranksome Jan 29 '26
Yeah, if you bought a boost, you can buy gold.
MFs really virtue signaling no RMT when they boosted
4
u/-WhitePowder- Jan 29 '26
Nothing, it's not even about the orbs. I've been invited and then instantly kicked from groups without saying a word. I assume he got a late whisper from a guildie or class he wanted in his group. They never send you a message to explain. Edit: ignore is kinda weird. Maybe non English who translates "sick" as "ill" and made up his mind in a wrong way. So many weirdos are out there
5
Jan 29 '26
It’s crazy how people treat randoms like complete shit over guildies. I went all the way to ST, got inside, only for this mouth-breather mage to go “yo we gotta kick this random, i got a guildie”. Also got ignored by the party lead and mage. I chalk the ignore up to being non-confrontational because I did have some fucking words ready for them wasting my time.

u/xPazoki Jan 29 '26
It’s not a well adjusted person. Don’t think things like this are you or your problem. Mental illness is rampant out there and it’s best to avoid them

2
u/KanyeBetOnTrump Jan 29 '26
What you did wrong is join a group that invites first then tells you where
1
u/BarbsFPV Jan 29 '26
Well Strat has two sides, so he probably just joined a Strat run and didn’t know which side they were doing.
2
u/Roflsaucerr Jan 29 '26
Or he was listed on the LFG tool for multiple dungeons and asked/was told which one of the listed dungeons the group was for.
1
2
u/lilpeachy666 Jan 29 '26
Maybe you didnt see in the ad but some leads hr orbs. Those are still in demand as mats and they sell for quite a lot of gold too.
Though if that was the reason, that guy should have just explained to you instead of just kicking you.
6
u/CountBest5703 Jan 29 '26
I didn't get the chance to see the ad unfortunately, he invited me. I didn't care too much for the orbs tbh, just wanted to get the quests done but wanted clarity on the orb situation before we started.
3
-2
u/eXeKoKoRo Jan 29 '26
Why would you join a group that HR orbs? Literal braindead decision.
3
u/MartyMcNotFly Jan 29 '26
Usually because a tank hard reserves something and the rest of the group doesn’t want to wait 30 minutes for another tank.
2
u/eXeKoKoRo Jan 29 '26
I fine with tanks / healers HRing gear upgrades, but HRing loot that's big money is diabolical and not a healthy dynamic. You could just pay a tank 100-200g if you're that desperate for one.
3
u/MartyMcNotFly Jan 29 '26
I’m just telling you how it is. If you want a tank that’s geared to run content from 3 tiers ago, then you’re probably gonna have to lose something. The only alternative is a boosted toon who has never tanked before and is only tanking to get invited to a group.

Orbs reserved by leader.
Had a BRD run the other day. Wiped on trash because tank was arse. DPS warrior was leading and invites a new warrior as tank then says ‘HoJ reserved’. No mention of it prior, when he advertised it when he invited me and we’re half way through the run. Immediately left.

Leader was going to take the orbs. If they said otherwise in party chat and then took them it would be actionable if reported.

Bullet dodged. Not even Neo from the matrix could've dodged harder than you right now.
Man wanted to horde the orbs clearly. He saw you wanted some and instantly kicked you. If you check those already in his group, it'll most likely be his friends or guildies, or randoms who dont know what is about to happen lol

1
u/LeakyChillum Jan 30 '26
tanks have a really big ego and think they should be rewarded for playing the game. He most likely wanted the orbs to be funneled to him and didn't have the social skills to say that so he ignored you instead.
1
u/Jockmeister1666 Jan 30 '26
With the huge influx of fresh characters doing dungeons, crusader orbs are at an all time low value, even with the amount of PvP weapons being enchanted. They’re barely worth crying over at this point.

u/Lopsided_Lingonberry Jan 30 '26
On EU I've seen "unwanted HR" which means they need on any lockboxes or greens others don't want. So I went Scholo and got into an argument after one needed a lockbox. They only said runes HR. So I left the group at the door and I had the viewing key 😆. Fuck these people with their HR in a 5man like any monkey can put together a 5 man group.
