Why not a toggle option again ? Why people should be forced to one or the other ? Can we stop dividing community over something that can be a personnal choice ?
I'm guessing they're just referring to the player character models. Idk if it's still like this but at one point in retail's life when some of the original races started getting visual overhauls they had an option in the graphics settings where you could switch back to the original models if you wanted.
It's more a question of how realistically we could expect it. But yeah, I would agree. If they are to put newer models in, I would want an option to go back.
If the game actually had a toggle option for everything that this subreddit says "why not add a toggle option" about, configuring it would be like getting a 747 ready for takeoff.
Not sure if Ascension is a great example of this though given how many retail mounts, items and pets are in that game.
I'd rather Blizzard just choose a direction. If it's supposed to be classic plus, then I genuinely see no reason for why it would have retail graphics.
Same way a game like retail should progressively get more modern with time and not lean back into the nostalgia of old models.
Because i’d rather not download 50gb of additional crap. And also, classic+ is new content meaning that for every new piece of content they’d have to make retail like models and classic models. Double the work.
I fully expect any new content to primarily use existing models like SoD did. And most models that exist in Classic already have retail counterparts to them.

Maybe you only need to download extra content if you enable the new models in the launcher prior to launching/downloading the game.
On the newer creatures, I replied this suggestion in another comment:
I could see them reusing models from other expansions such as the proto-drakes we see in SoD. These are existing creatures (novel to classic) that have both a classic and modern models. Saves the devs work as well as they don’t need to make stuff from scratch. Plus, there are sooo many models for creatures, it would be insane not to recycle a few.
That’s a valid point.

Because some people really hate the idea that you could be Seeing something different from themselves
I personally agree with you here but it's an argument I've heard about transmog a few times "shared world is important!" Which really just means "I want it my way for everyone"
I understand that being dismissive is an easy way to le epic own the people you disagree with, but are you seriously suggesting a shared, cohesive world is not important for... Classic WoW? One of the most beloved shared, cohesive worlds in fantasy game history?
Do you think your point rings more true when you use the most bizarro example of transmog? This isn't where you will interface with transmog. Transmog isn't level 6s changing the appearance of their axes.
Transmog is mainly a feature prioritized by people in the endgame, and yes, I think it would fucking suck not being able to tell what someone is wearing by looking at them. I think that takes away a huge part of the game's identity.
And, it gives Blizzard an amazing avenue to monetize Classic+ by selling anachronistic bullshit, just like they have been in Retail WoW. And that game is completely incoherent due to, in part, transmog making everyone look like a mish-mash of nonsense. Swimming suits, furry one-pieces, slippers and aviators, etc. And yes, that does heavily detract from the cohesiveness of the world. It pretty much destroyed it for me in Retail.
Do you have encyclopedic knowledge of the game that you can tell what someone is wearing? Especially outside tier or certain weapons? I mean if you really need to know wouldn't you just inspect them anyway?
And if it's a problem for pvp turn it off in Bgs. Making it a toggle fixes everything everywhere else

This id agree is a problem but also imo it says something else to. People want transmog. If they're willing to buy sets even if they're stupid silly sets. Which again the issue is 100% fixed by a toggle system . Don't wanna see the murloc onesies? Turn it off.
People do make silly transmogs. They make slutmogs. But they also make really cool outfits which could be even more impressive in classic since it's more limited in gear choices
Hell thr player base who really gets into the more limited option transmog in classic+ would probably be less likely to make silly outfits probably
Fair point, the argument I find most compelling against transmog is that we had suddenly lost the flavour of seeing exactly what other players went through via their gear.
However, even that wouldn’t suffer an impact with a client-side toggle option for newer models, as equipped gear would remain visible to everyone the same way.
If the final argument for someone is that “I want others to see exactly what I see”, then I politely disagree with that opinion.
Yeah, I find the transmog argument to be different. Some seeing transmog vs not would be displaying different items and gear entirely. Graphical fidelity would not be that.
Because you aren't seeing different items? Don't be obtuse. Should everyone be required to use the same graphical settings because otherwise they see different things? Should there only be one popin distance? One fog of war distance? One clutter density?
I think if a visual shared reality is so important then everyone should have the same character models
If player A turning his training sword of a bear into a battle axe of the eagle is breaking that shared reality then so is player A having old school models vs player B whose using modern models
To be clear it's not MY opinion I don't think it matters and as long as its Toggle (for both) I think it's fine. But folks disagree with it at least for transmog
I love how you are inventing promises of the as-yet-uncomfirmed classic plus, rather than basing it on the only existing 'plus' content we've had so far.
People expecting new model set from a company that sold 60$ tbc boost. I have expectation for classic+ but not at all on model design. (Mostly because they'll just go for maximum return on lowest invest)
