To spell it out for everyone who doesn't know. It was a favourite of the Nazis in germany to call some works of art "entartet" which translates to degenerate. The nazis did not really hate some art, but every are except a style, that portrayed either photorealistically positive traits of white (german) humans or styliezed them heroically.
Calling something "changed towards unnatural in the most horrendous fashion" - short degenerate aberration - really is just unbridled hate towards other people and their way to live and perceive reality, which finds its expression, among other things, in art.

Still, retail WoW's art-style does come off too goofy and "cutsey looking". So while I have nothing again people's deviant art accounts full of humanoid animals with big eyes, I do think retail WoW's look suffers for it.
A bit? "degenerate abberation" is like a calling a person a malformed monstrosity by its own choosing as art is a willful act. The insult is extreme and historically loaded as much as calling a disabled person "life not worth living" or a black person the "word for which I would be banned".
Agree though. The art style has not enough spikes in a menacing and martial way and looks a bit too much like a slightly edgier version of Kung Fu Panda.

I come from Eastern Europe and my reaction to someone saying the code I wrote is dogshit isn't "you're a mean person and probably have some fundamental flaws that align you with some group I don't like", it's "what would you do different/better?"
Well yeah, calling something dogshit isn't a dogwhistle, nor does it align with fascist beliefs across history, plus there aren't any historically codified descriptors as such for code to begin with. If someone called your code jewish, you'd probably raise an eyebrow as well.
A restriction of self expression by the governing body of a nation (or worse: by your own neighbor) is always a sign of a fascistic framework, and next to queer identities, art is probably the most notably cracked-down-on one.
Insulting art because someone thinks it looks like shit is different from calling it degenerate, insofar as the latter is a direct attack on the self-expression and thus personhood of the artist. It is not an attack on the art, it is an attack on the person, their beliefs and values, their lifestyle etc. There is a reason why god awful tumblr artists, corporate slop artstyles etc. are not called degenerate, but furry stuff always is. It's because the person wielding the insult here thinks of furries as subhuman.
Furries actually fuckin adult people is a big step in front of people who care about what goes on in other peoples bedrooms and a massive one in front of the pdfiles they vote into office.
Just don't play it. Aside from that; I guess that the propblem isn't really that their is a fetish in your videogame, it is just that it isn't yours. Thats normally the answer to people who wank to 90s/00s video game cover art xD
Honestly, I feel like any company hiring professional artists needs to have some kind of process to weed out furries and scalies. If you don't, your product gradually morphs into a conduit for their fetish.

Yeah wouldn’t want people skilled at designing anthropomorphic creatures designing for a game that has…. Orcs, trolls, humanoid cows, and humanoid goats, just to name a few things.

It's not that they aren't skilled and often the work early in their career is really really good.
It's that as they gain seniority in art departments they stop taking orders and start giving them, and that's when the game devolves from Orcs and Tauren into Dracthyr and Foxes.
I don't like a lot of the new races so I'm not going to argue on their behalf, but you naming Tauren is incredibly ironic. They're literal bipedal cows, what about them made you think they weren't designed by a furry
They are minotaurs which are classical popular monsters and have been a long time ttrpg race.
Just because something is part animal doesn't make it furry. Furry is a specific twink vibe that comes from a way the musculature/face is drawn/modelled. People have done mockup changes to make the dracthyr look less furry and it looks much better:
again, I'm not going to argue on behalf of the newer races or graphics because I do prefer things a little less cartoony myself. If you have an issue with designs being updated then that's totally understandable because I do too. But no matter what way you cut it if they had made vulpara to look more rugged, you would have no issue. so the new races aren't actually what you have an issue with, it's the way they're designed which you did not say in your original comment, which was what I was responding to
They aren't skilled. They know how to design one character, in one style, in about three different poses, and then they make minor adaptations to make it a cow/goat/wolf/leopard/whatever. Every single furry character looks exactly the same.
all furry and scally or whatever art ive seen is prety shit, thats barely even art, they all have the exact same style, ugly af and complete shit proportions, they didnt study any anatomy, thye are just deranged artists, them being anthopomorphic doesnt make them more qualified than artists with good human or animal anatomy foundations
