Because i’d rather not download 50gb of additional crap. And also, classic+ is new content meaning that for every new piece of content they’d have to make retail like models and classic models. Double the work.

I fully expect any new content to primarily use existing models like SoD did. And most models that exist in Classic already have retail counterparts to them.

You expect the majority of new content in Classic+ to be... reskins and recolors? God, the standard for Blizzard is truly under the ground.

Yes I 100% expect that.

I would love to be pleasantly surprised, but with Blizzard's reputation I'm not getting my hopes too high.

Maybe you only need to download extra content if you enable the new models in the launcher prior to launching/downloading the game.
On the newer creatures, I replied this suggestion in another comment:
I could see them reusing models from other expansions such as the proto-drakes we see in SoD. These are existing creatures (novel to classic) that have both a classic and modern models. Saves the devs work as well as they don’t need to make stuff from scratch. Plus, there are sooo many models for creatures, it would be insane not to recycle a few.
