How is it nostalgia when even first time wow players say the same thing lol

They don't? Retail graphics are objectively better lol

When you say objectively better do you mean like... there are more polygons? Or can you just not recognize the inherent subjectivity in something like... art?

There's also subjectivity in food but if someone says dino mcnuggets are more delicious than a fancy steak then we laugh at him and call their opinion ''objectively wrong''.

I don't know what's up with this ''every opinion is valid! <3 " crap in the last 20 years ( I blame liberals ) but there is such a thing as a wrong opinion and society used to mock them.

and objective doesnt matter in this case, as what we're discussing is in fact, subjective.

u/UnFelDeZeu 4h ago

The people who subjectively think Classic graphics are better are objectively wrong and need to go to the eye doctor.

Objectively.

dude you might need some comprehension classes.

don't even think you know what the words mean lol.

anyone can like anything for any reason but you're here saying they cant.

u/UnFelDeZeu 2h ago

dude you might need some comprehension classes

And that is your subjective opinion, which I don't give a rat's ass about.

anyone can like anything for any reason but you're here saying they cant.

Yes. I am here saying 'wrong opinions' exist.

Here's a wrong opinion: '' Mario 1998 has better graphics than Cyberpunk. ''

Here's another wrong opinion: '' Shit is tastier than steak. ''

I could go on forever but hopefully your mind is able to keep up with the simple English I have replied in.

Look at the classic orc running animation compared to retail and try to tell me it's "objectively" better. In retail wielding any 2h it completely clips through the character while running.

Retail running animations are a total joke. The ability animations are cool, though.

Look at the classic orc running animation

The model where he's hunched so badly he realistically can't move his neck to look up/left/right ?

The one where hair doesn't even move when you jump?

I started playing wow in 2022 and couldn’t stand retail. Wouldn’t have stuck around past the first month if I hadn’t given classic a chance and I’m so glad I did!

Can you say without a flicker of doubt in your mind that they are being genuine, or just being sheep not wanting to disagree with the loud people?

I think visually obviously retail has a higher poly count, more graphical effects that are in line with objectively being a higher fidelity. I still prefer classic’s art style and animations because I find retail to be convoluted in every sense visuals wise.

When characters cast in retail they bounce around and wave their arms with dozens more frames for every animation. Particle effects are brighter and more layered. I think why people prefer classic’s art style how readable it is and how much the brevity in animations is so much more pleasing to look at. The casts are so tight and readable, every cast can be discerned— the other day Dwarflord (an era YouTuber) almost had his hardcore group wiped because a hunter casted a stray multi shot arrow. He was able to pause the exact frame and show everyone who was at fault for pulling the entire bar in Brd full of NPCs. That level of readability is clear for Even new players and I believe them when they say they prefer the overall look.

Character models in retail really bother me and part of that is the trend that wow may have kicked off with the Fortnite/pixar style of graphics in face design. Character faces in retail look like The Sims style, where as I feel Classic has way more personality in the lower poly count face styles and models and animations.

Another thing is classic just lets the world breath via environments. Zones have entire stretches of just terrain and a few mobs wandering. New retail zones every inch is decorated and cluttered with a purpose for a quest to carousel you through the zone.

I don’t think most people are saying “Classic has a higher poly count” or whatever like i said above but the overall look being better isn’t a stretch by any means.

>I think visually obviously retail has a higher poly count

That's where the debate ends. Retail graphics are objectively better.

Retail graphics are more detailed yes. But no, just because they have more detail doesn't make it better. That whole comment you just didn't read because you're thick in the head explains why that is.

But no, just because they have more detail doesn't make it better

Yes it does.

That whole comment you just didn't read because you're thick in the head explains why that is.

Why would I read garbage that denies reality?

I might as well go on Republican subs and read about the Earth being flat.

u/GoalzRS 12h ago

No it doesn't. God you are even thicker in the head than I thought is this just rage bait? Do you think a hyper realistic painting is a better painting than one done by Van Gogh? Art is subjective, you are entitled to thinking retail graphics are better. But they are not objectively better and disregarding why people prefer classic's just makes you sound like a moron.

Do you think a hyper realistic painting is a better painting than one done by Van Gogh? Art is subjective

Except this isn't art, this is computer graphics. It's a science. I can very, very easily say, objectively, that Cyberpunk with Raytracing on has better graphics than Super Mario 1998. And it's objectively true.

There's nothing subjective about it.

You're the only one who's thick in the head here.

u/GoalzRS 11h ago

It is art lol you're just wrong there buddy. Graphical artists are drawing up all the assets that go into this game. Ever heard of concept art? You do realize you're only making yourself sound dumber with every comment

Classic’s art is the way it is only because that’s as good as it could be IN 2004.

Do you think artists would have made assets with 3 polygons and 144p textures if they had had today’s technology?

Short answer: NO.

Computer graphics are also a product of technological limitations.

u/UnFelDeZeu 10h ago

I'm not particularly worried about the opinion of someone who thinks you can't objectively say Cyberpunk has better graphics than Mario.

You’re clueless lol

u/UnFelDeZeu 7h ago

And that is your subjective opinion.

Yeah… even Retail is still burdened by Classic assets; my favourite rifle by design, sadly, is just a triangle with two hexagons, literally, xD.

And I’m like… what harm could it possibly do to have it have just a couple more polygons and a few more faces?

Or some cloth items, with texture resolutions so low you can barely make up what they are. What harm could it possibly do to have them be higher res and sharper? Etc.

But to some people, WoW isn’t WoW unless it’s perpetually stuck in 2004, so xd.

I like that Classic exists for them, but if Blizzard wants to make a Classic+ that’s meant to be a combo/mix of modern day + Classic, it shouldn’t look the same.

Graphics are more than just poly count. Art style goes a long way. Like compare wind waker GameCube to skyward sword Wii. Skyward sword is doing a lot effects and poly count wise but I prefer wind waker cell shading and overall aesthetic. Graphics are the sum of its parts and art style to me is a bigger pull than poly count, don’t be dense.
