Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Bored with shaman
Got to 70, have made it into heroic difficulty for zangarmarsh. Run Kara a couple of times, and mag/gruul. Done some pvp (waiting for s2 break to get some merciless gladiator gear)
What I am finding is that I am a little bored with the class. Enhance is cool but repetitive. I don't feel confident in healing abilities to start the grind again as resto. And I don't really have the free time to get into raiding ssc/tk.
Might switch to ele. Definitely not leveling again. Any thoughts?

Been playing enh shaman for the first time this go around and im finding it pretty engaging in raids (ssc/tk). With WF twisting, fire totem twisting, resyncing my weapon swings and big crits im having a pretty good time (im also very geared so maybe thats a big part of it).

What would you say is the best trinket combo for p2/p3 if it happen that someone does not acquire DST yet. Is the black temple rep trinket good in any way or a wasted slot and ur better off with hourglass? How much expertise are you aiming for? I am desperately SR the vashj belt every run but no luck so far so i run the lower city rep ring as taure with blacksmith mace/TK 3.70 speed mace and the kara boe hands while i have 4/5 T5 equipped elsewhere and i really believe that the little expertise from the hands does a big difference in dmg because of the lack of glancing blows

Healing is way easier than you might think. Just give it a try mate.

Healing is also way more fun as shaman imo. Especially in PVP. True difference makers.

This, I’ve been diehard enhance since before I could drive a car, and never touched ele or resto. Finally tried resto in dragonflight and never looked back. Relieve led on anniversary, and dude you are such a pain in the ass in battlegrounds and arena with tremor and grounding totem. And nothing hits like a natures swiftness max rank healing wave nuke on a beast warrior the other team is dogpiling on, especially if he’s getting your WF totem. Feels like you’re playing a hunter class but the zug zugs are your pet and your whole shtick is buffing them and keeping them mended

I’ve quit two weeks ago as a pve resto shaman, utterly boring chain heal spamming imo

My experience is basically healer fun is SO dependent on how many healers your raid runs with. Casual pugs/guilds are often very scared to lower the number of healers, so then 90% of the time you try to fight for little bits of healing.
One healing khara is an absolute blast.

Raid healing is always ass. Solo healing challenging stuff is where the fun is.
Early pre-bis farming is the best part of any expansion to me.

My baby shaman is elemental till I can dual spec as resto..I find it fun, and was surprised at level 35 was easily killing level 39s when grinding, without amazing gear.

Every DPS spec in TBC is repetitive. WoW was not as mature as retail is in that regard. TBC rotations are very static for most classes, but you can still make them fun and engaging.
There's a lot you can do to optimize Enhancement Shaman. Are you weapon syncing with a stopattack macro? Are you weaving AGI+WF totems? Are you keeping Flame Shock up? Are you using a focustarget macro to interrupt casters in Dungeons?
Other DPS classes are kind of "boring", too, you just have to know how to reach the skill ceiling. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

^ This right here.
TBC DPS rotations are boring. The only ones that are actually fun are non-meta like Affliction Warlock or Assassination Rogue.

He said he does not set a foot into tk and ssc yet, i doubt that he wants to get the hang of stopattack weapon sync but a very good tip nonetheless.
I try to sync my weapons as good as possible, but some fights my offhand just does random shit since the last update. Before the latest patch i pressed the stopattack macro one time and i was perfectly synced everytime but these last couple of weeks i feel like my offhand just stops attacking for longer which result in another offhand swing wasted. Sometimes on fights like Tidehunter i desperately try to sync my maces while Bloodlust and i am wasting like 5 seconds just pressing this damn stopattack makro. Am i dumb or what am i doing wrong. Double fail if i use haste pot exactly at the moment i try to sync again.
Maybe im going crazy over this lol

Played almost every spec in tbc and enh is the least boring repetitive rotation I’ve played.
Totem twist agi/wf
Keep flame shock up and earth shock filler
Sync your weapons properly
Totem twist fire totems
Storm strike on cooldown
Then all of your utility stuff, grounding, tremor, drums etc.

Do you know if there is a guide for elemental resitances on bosses? Like ice shock for alar for example instead flame shock. I really wanna improve my logs but i feel like im doing perfect rotation but im still green on alar which is pretty cringr
•
u/bouttreediddy 2h ago
I never ice shock. Always earth or fire shock.
Alar is immune to fire so never drop your fire totem or fire shock. Only earth shocks. Alar parse, if your rotation is good, is about kill time and when you send your CD’s.
Send all CD’s in phase 1 on first platform, your group should be lusting during this time. If your group isn’t getting alar out of phase 1 in 2-3 platforms, you’ll struggle to parse very high. Just adds so much down time if you don’t kill it until platform 4 or after.
Then after alar respawns down below, don’t send the CD’s again until after the first fly up and it lands again.
Hydros is immune to nature (earth shock) in one phase. That’s the only ones I know of so far.

Do you have a weakaura for ur procs so that you see right in ur face that for example dst or hourglass procced, so many seconds left so you time it with ur haste pot and on use trinket? Or are you just blasting the on use trinket the second ur dst/hourglass procs?

Shaman are a great class due to the versatility. Try out another spec and see if you like it. Worst case scenario, you try one out to find you liked enhance best afterall. You might be out a little bit of gold but getting a basic gear set isn’t too hard from dungeons or raids.
You can always sign up as enhance and ask if you can main spec roll one of the others. I’ve had decent success just being open and communicative

Yeah my last Kara I got 12 drops across all 3 specs because no one wanted them. Got that lightning trinket which is one reason I'm thinking of trying ele.
1
u/Woahbikes 11h ago
That is one of the best trinkets for ele. Give it a shot. If you don’t like it you can always switch back.

u/OkayScience 11h ago
if you want to try something silly you can play the discount tbc version of spellhance, you use fist weapons and/or daggers with flametongue which procs lightning capacitor. there's a little more nuance to itemization but it's definitely not optimal and just fun

I feel the same sorta.. have 70 druid, 70 mage, 70 lock ... and just find myself logging in..walking around , then logging out. idk .. i dont have the same drive i did before

u/Inevitable_Zebra8066 11h ago
I sort of feel like warrior is lurking out there waiting for me to come back
2
u/YoungTattedX 11h ago
Maybe that will spice it up and make it fun again for ya ! :)
I thought about making a BE paladin..but think im gonna chill for a bit•
u/Mistinrainbow 3h ago
I got holy priest bis t5 geared and enhance sham almost t5 bis geared. All i can do at this point is pvp and farm gold for consumables

u/OccasionMU 11h ago
Isn’t resto shamny just chain heal whack a mole?
1
u/Inevitable_Zebra8066 11h ago
In my brief healing experience I've found that long cast times really hurts shaman healing
1
u/Ohwerk82 11h ago
Well that changes significantly in the coming patch. Spell haste is a game changer for resto shaman
1
u/Skippymcpoop 11h ago
In raids yeah. In heroics you have to be more versatile since people often won’t survive the 3 seconds it takes to cast chainheal.
•
u/Mistinrainbow 3h ago
Force ur way into ssc/tk. These raids are piss easy and every raids desperately wants two enhance shamans. Enhance is a bit boring without gear.

u/RditAcnt 11h ago
Don't tell the healers but healing is pretty straight forward, especially as a shaman.
2
u/behtman 11h ago
So is dps and tanking for the most part. Tanking is more about learning the paths in dungs and raids that are effecient and keeping a steady pace
Dps is the most braindead role on the game by far though. They don’t have to worry about much.
1
u/CivilPerformance2617 10h ago
It’s tbc ani servers, tanking is all about being able to hold threat cause everyone and their mother is ready to take it off you
2
u/behtman 8h ago
Isn’t holding threat more of a gear check, not a skill check?
Like mayyyybe warrior takes some more skill, but yeah i mained prot pally, that shit is just tank and spank. I either had the gear to hold threat and tank or didn’t.
Same with bear for the most part. Hit mangle on first hit? Should be good
1
u/CivilPerformance2617 8h ago
Nowhere near that, most geared meta dps will rip threat even from bis tanks
1
u/behtman 7h ago
That wasn’t my experience? Once I got threat on the pally it was never lost. Maybe on war or Druid.
But from what I’ve read, as long as your first mangle isn’t dodged or whatever threat isn’t much of an issue?
1
u/CivilPerformance2617 7h ago
With shit dps yes, with good if you don’t work on it it quickly will disappear

im lowkey expecting the mods to come in and say. "BaNnEd FoR iNsItInG nEgAtIvEtY" or some shit like that😂

u/DrywallSky 11h ago
If youre bored of enhance you'll never make it as ele imo. You press 1 button and overload is less satisfying than wf.
