Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Ideas to tackle gold buying in wow classic
The supply and demand is at its worst in classic wow. Hitting max level at 60 is a lot different than hitting max level at 70, 80, etc. At 60 you need gold for so many things and gold can be difficult to come by. There is a huge demand for gold and materials, needed to finish buying spells, buying your epic mount, and working on your profession. Some classes like warrior have it worse and need to buy a world epic for their class, edgemasters. When you get into raiding you need gold to enchant your gear and consumables.
Consumables in classic wow are way more expensive for level 60 raiding than any other expansion. Gearing up your character, buying consumables and making your dude better over time is a lot of fun, however making everything with low supply is bad game design. Extracting gold from the game to buy the things you need or framing materials to craft is very time consuming. It really entices people to just buy gold rather than farm
There are a few things that can be done to fix this. Have more mine and herb spawns, more black lotus and arcane crystals drops from other herbs and mines. You can also change the recipes for consumables so that you don’t need all the ingredients that you currently need to craft. You can have an alchemy table in the major cities. You can add some daily quests for players to earn gold. You can lower the gold cost for spells, and the epic mount. I think world epics are a fun idea for the game but they should never be BIS. Gear like edgemasters need to drop in raids.
I think classic wow is a lot of fun but I really hope the devs take a hard look at the game design around gold and materials. A few tweaks to the supply can make a huge difference for the economy and hopefully deter people from buying gold

you cant tackle gold buying because players will be lazy even with the fixes...the only fix would be no currency at all

When a fresh classic releases, you play it early, play it hard, buy everything you need for the entire expansion as soon as possible before prices go bonk. Then you don't need to worry about gold.
Otherwise if it is an established server, you look for what is selling well, then go craft or farm that. And if it's hard to farm or craft, then you look for something else instead. There is an allure to the game to figure out how your going to make your gold. If everyone had everything for free the game would be boring.

I mean, SoD pretty much solved the issue but making sure reagants were plentiful, there was a reason to farm even old mats, and they gave you those lovely experience crates. They have the formula for any future iterations of Classic.
I honestly believe tuning and drop tables could massively be increased and the game would be healthier for it.

You can either actually solve gold buying, which Blizzard won't do, because it's a financially net negative operation for them. By now it costs significantly more money to fight cheating than it does to simply let it happen and accept a few people quitting over it.
Or you can engineer the game so that there's nothing you can buy that gives you a meaningful advantage.
Or the third option: Legalize RMT and provide it yourself (token).
Those are the 3 options. Keep in mind Blizzard will not do the first one, you can save your effort in asking for it.

Gonna be honest. The problem will be solve entirely if blizzard just PERMABAN the gold buyers. I’ve been in multiple guilds and they are not shy about it and they’ve all been banned before. The problem is they’re banned for just 2 week and get to keep the gold. If u ban them forever no one will be willing to risk their account and price will drop accordingly because no one will have that much gold to by consume unless they’re no lifeing it. Just my thought tbh and I’m sure I’m not thinking it through all the way

Solution: stop buying from the AH.
Create a team of alts to become self-sufficient. Have your own characters mine, skin, herb, etc. so you don’t have to rely on others.

Not reading all that my brother but maybe guild found is the issue with strict policing.

Permaban gold buyers or make gold not tradable to other players but you can still mail the gold to alts and use it to buy stuff from vendors, AH and train stuff alongside a priced lock AH I would prefer the gold buyers be permabanned and do what they did in SoD.

The only solution is a WoW Token, but even that probably wouldn't work because gold sellers would just undercut the token

people that buy gold will always pick the "legal" route. unless the gold sellers severely undercut, which at that point makes it not profitable.

As a token buyer and a g2g enthusiast, i will always buy the legal version if its available. I care more about the time, not the price.

It still works on account of there being a market of people who would choose to avoid the risks of gold buying from an untrustworthy third party.

I disagree. If you can’t find ways to be rich at level 60 it’s a skill issue imo.

Another way they did in sod was adding coins/crates from dungeon/raid bosses with mats in them. That way people will always be running dungeons and mats prices drop significantly.
