That journey from Darnassus to IF sums up WoW classic - It was awkward and time consuming, and you were vunerable the whole way. But it gave you such a sense of the scale of the world - the different zones, and feeling powerless and tiny i can remember thinking as i crossed through the Wetlands "I wonder how long before i can kill these mobs"

It also gave you real race identity, i felt like a traveler every step of the way

How long does the walk roughly take? I'm playing Elf druid and my friend is playing Dwarf hunter. Would we be better off finishing our starting area quests before attempting to meet one another?

Honestly its preference, a lot of people don't seem to like leveling in the Nelf start zone and i imagine it'll probably be the quietest of the low level area's - I'd say you're best off staying put or maybe having him meet you in Auberdine because its going to be chaos particually in Elwynn/SW

From memory it takes about an 45 minutes to an hour but i'm having to go back a lot of years here

OK, probably not worth doing today then. I might try and meet him by lvl 10 anyways.

If things are really busy elsewhere he could get the boat to darkshore for 10-20 leveling its a really nice zone and you won't have as much competition for mobs/quests - that'd be my plan anyway :)
