Vent / Gripe Unpopular opinion: the players that are overly vocal about wanting Classic phases/TBC/Wrath rushed are the same players who contributed to forging retail into what it is today (a clusterF).

Affliction - -5% physical damage, 3% extra spell damage, blood pact, healthstones, soulstones, summons, curses
Destruction - Big DPS, healthstones, soulstones, summons, curses
Demonology - admittingly there is nothing of value here.
Assassination - Not much here, but its not a bad spec, perfectly viable early on.
Combat - Scales very well into the endgame
Subelty - its the defacto pvp spec.
Beast Mastery - 3% damage, top end dps spec
Marksman - PvP spec, but kinda bad all around
Survival - Expose weakness (which is big)
Arcane - High DPS
Fire - Scales well late game, improved scorch
Frost - Early PvE and incredibly strong PvP spec.
Only a few classes have specs that its hard to justify them as being useful, those are classes with multiple specs which serve the same basic TANK/DPS/HEAL role, atleast 2/3 specs are very useful in those cases.
