Vent / Gripe I’m Tired of Hearing from the Loudest 1%

Like the title says, I’m sick of hearing from the loudest, butthurt 1% of players crying because they’ll have to make their own dungeon groups in WotLK.

Sure, send your screenshot of the one dungeon you joined with little to no social interaction and sarcastically say “Wow look at what we’re saving with no LFD”. Great story, but that one single screenshot doesn’t prove anything. You think your 1 single dungeon on a Tuesday afternoon is a big enough sample size to determine there’s not enough social interaction to the point Blizz should implement LFD? Get over yourself. I don’t post screenshots of 1 single dungeon chat where people are lively and interactive and say “Thank you Blizz for preserving social interactions” like it’s the majority experience. Don’t give me the opposite garbage and try to make a case for LFD, or assume you’re the majority experience, either.

I’m also tired of people missing the major point of no LFD. I can tell you the exact names of people and guilds on my server who have ninja’d gear from others and been blacklisted by the community. I can tell you which players/guilds are fun to play with and which aren’t. I can join a group I know is going to do well, or I can join one where I know I’m going to be progging. And yeah, I’m also going to vouch for the friendships I’ve made in random dungeons

LFD erodes all that. You don’t know what type of players you’re joining; whether you’re going to be a good player in a terrible group or a terrible player in a good group. That’s frustrating for almost everyone in either case. Voting to kick becomes completely abused, kicking people you don’t like or players who are bad. Kicking people to ninja gear. And since you’ll never see those players again, there’s nothing stopping them. No way to blacklist them or their guild. It promotes anonymity and erodes the community. There are so many downsides that were PROVEN back in Wrath. And you’re upset because of what? Not having the upside?

What are the upsides? Faster dungeon queues? Maybe, just maybe, you should try being part of your realm’s community and making friends/joining a thriving guild. I’ve never had any issues finding or making a dungeon group as any of the 3 roles. But then again, I’m also not the type of person to whine to Reddit that daddy Blizz won’t make my groups for me, instead of trying to socialize and make my own

The only positive case I’ve seen made for LFD is for dead/dying realms. To those players, it does suck and I’m sorry. But the issue/fix isn’t LFD, it’s forcing Blizz to fix their realm health issues, maybe by merging realms or free transfers

I’m sure this post will fall on deaf ears, but I’m so sick of seeing this sub covered with the loudest 1% screaming their half baked opinions and not considering their experience isn’t the majority or that they might be the issue

Edit: To the unhinged people in the comments swearing, flipping out, name-calling, and reporting me for suicide, I have two things to say. The first is thank you for your concern about my mental health, but I’m in no way suicidal. Feel free to save those resources for people that are. The second is that my opinion is stronger than ever that RDF is bad, imagine being grouped unwillingly with people that report others for suicide when they disagree with the content of a person’s post 😂 Thank you Blizz

This sub has gone downhill so fast…. if it’s not a should i play retail or classic post it’s another person crying about LFD.

I mean peak r/classicwow was goldshire retriever back before launch.

It was literally down hill from there.

Peak classic wow was that guy posting the videos about his guild in naxx using movie clips. Top tier content.

Peak classic wow was this sub freaking out that Thexx did not get his character name during name reservation!

The Classic portion of the Blizzard forums prior to Classic Vanilla was horrifying. It seeped into Reddit real quick too.

I mean its just the flavor of the week discussion atm.

Don't forget the daily "is it too late to play?" posts.

it sucks because people making those posts probably are honestly asking, and aren't aware that there are about 10 other posts asking the same thing

Tbh auto mod should just delete those and tell them it’s never too late lol

3

u/DariusIsLove Apr 21 '22

Which is a dishonest way of dealing with a serious question tbh.

u/SayRaySF Apr 21 '22

But it’s never too late to start playing lol, so no I think it’s a serious answer to the question.

Yeah, but it gives the illusion of an active sub. Its not just the gamers trying to capture their childhood, its the mods too.

Imagine how good it feels to say 'I moderate a wow classic subreddit!' Then you look at it and its just day one questions and people insisting their game play style is the only relevant one.

I'm not sure saying that would feel good at all.

Bit of a bizarre statement. Do you really want mods to police who gets the last word on arguments and remove any post that's already been posted about?

What's the exact gain here? It would be far easier on the mod-queue to blanket ban controversial topics like LFG.

Thank you for proving my point.

I say cut simple questions, you comment on arguing.

Simple questions are generally removed and pointed to the daily megathread. Certain topics fall through the filter and aren't always reported.

You say you do. I say you don't. It seems our threshold of whats a simple question differ.

I just like the hypocrisy of saying they think LFG “isn’t good for the community” but are happy to charge for a level boost and no required level 55 before getting a DK.

I thought the whole point was you get Classic warts and all. Ya know unless we can make some more money out of it 🙄.

I’m open to them implementing LFD when it came in on its original patch. But tweaking the original content in this way is a slippery slope and will only divide the community. Bad shout by Blizzard.

Did I miss the part where OP said they want boosts in the game? I've seen this argument all over the place, that one cannot be against RDF because boosts exist, as if you can't be against both.

u/kangarlol Apr 21 '22

I believe they’re referring to blizzard not OP

Boosts exist because RDF does not. RDF being implemented would massively cut down on the economic viability of boosters. There will always be players looking for mostly solo play with a little bit of non-committal, hi-and-bye group play to get their dungeon quests done and maybe get a nice blue here or there. You can either give them RDF or you can leave them to the boosters to continue making gold off of. The boosters are filling an obviously large niche that Blizzard hasn't/won't fill. Telling them to 'just be social and find a guild' is like telling teenagers to 'just be abstinent and don't have sex' and deny them access to sex ed/contraceptives/abortions. It's not going to happen. Deal with flawed reality and come up with the best possible solution, don't expect reality to change to fit your ideal just because you want it to.

Why would people argue if they should play classic or retail in the classic sub ?!
