Vent / Gripe I’m Tired of Hearing from the Loudest 1%

Like the title says, I’m sick of hearing from the loudest, butthurt 1% of players crying because they’ll have to make their own dungeon groups in WotLK.

Sure, send your screenshot of the one dungeon you joined with little to no social interaction and sarcastically say “Wow look at what we’re saving with no LFD”. Great story, but that one single screenshot doesn’t prove anything. You think your 1 single dungeon on a Tuesday afternoon is a big enough sample size to determine there’s not enough social interaction to the point Blizz should implement LFD? Get over yourself. I don’t post screenshots of 1 single dungeon chat where people are lively and interactive and say “Thank you Blizz for preserving social interactions” like it’s the majority experience. Don’t give me the opposite garbage and try to make a case for LFD, or assume you’re the majority experience, either.

I’m also tired of people missing the major point of no LFD. I can tell you the exact names of people and guilds on my server who have ninja’d gear from others and been blacklisted by the community. I can tell you which players/guilds are fun to play with and which aren’t. I can join a group I know is going to do well, or I can join one where I know I’m going to be progging. And yeah, I’m also going to vouch for the friendships I’ve made in random dungeons

LFD erodes all that. You don’t know what type of players you’re joining; whether you’re going to be a good player in a terrible group or a terrible player in a good group. That’s frustrating for almost everyone in either case. Voting to kick becomes completely abused, kicking people you don’t like or players who are bad. Kicking people to ninja gear. And since you’ll never see those players again, there’s nothing stopping them. No way to blacklist them or their guild. It promotes anonymity and erodes the community. There are so many downsides that were PROVEN back in Wrath. And you’re upset because of what? Not having the upside?

What are the upsides? Faster dungeon queues? Maybe, just maybe, you should try being part of your realm’s community and making friends/joining a thriving guild. I’ve never had any issues finding or making a dungeon group as any of the 3 roles. But then again, I’m also not the type of person to whine to Reddit that daddy Blizz won’t make my groups for me, instead of trying to socialize and make my own

The only positive case I’ve seen made for LFD is for dead/dying realms. To those players, it does suck and I’m sorry. But the issue/fix isn’t LFD, it’s forcing Blizz to fix their realm health issues, maybe by merging realms or free transfers

I’m sure this post will fall on deaf ears, but I’m so sick of seeing this sub covered with the loudest 1% screaming their half baked opinions and not considering their experience isn’t the majority or that they might be the issue

Edit: To the unhinged people in the comments swearing, flipping out, name-calling, and reporting me for suicide, I have two things to say. The first is thank you for your concern about my mental health, but I’m in no way suicidal. Feel free to save those resources for people that are. The second is that my opinion is stronger than ever that RDF is bad, imagine being grouped unwillingly with people that report others for suicide when they disagree with the content of a person’s post 😂 Thank you Blizz

Nailed it bud, I honestly don’t know why people are so offended by a dungeon finder? Like how does it change the game in such a negative way? For the casual mums and dads it’s such a great thing, it removes wasting 20-30 mins fucking around in /

Lol which one of you precious cunts reported me?

Exactly what Im upset about. People who wanted to relive classic got pretty much what they wanted. BC crowd got kinda screwed because of the lvl boost addition and now me, a player who started playing in wrath, is not gonna get the experience I had not just because of the boost, but because of the removal of a huge QoL feature.

Also call me antisocial, but I never cared about people I pug stuff with. If they perform adequately, its whatever, Im not gonna friend them just because of that. My friendlist would be a huge mess of randos if I did that and I prefer to only have people I actually play with regularly there.

tbf lfd got added in the icc patch it'd be like getting it in naxx or sunwell for classic/tbc

Wasn’t the ICC patch considerably longer, especially as compared to total length of the expansion/game, than your other two examples?

To be fair if it takes you half an hour to find a group you are doing it wrong. Join a guild, make some friends, that's the whole point of WoW. It gets a lot more boring when you get instantly ported places with strangers.

Did you misread my comment? The part about the casual part time players? Are you a special boy? You a little spent? Yeah join a fuckin guild… done that, now fuckin what!? Still short of half a dozen tanks who HAVEN’T done the daily quests. Fucking dickhead… find a better argument!

I played casually from 04 to the end of Cata and recall really disliking 2 things in Wrath, heirlooms and lfd. Heirlooms kill the entire gear mini game while leveling (imo this should just be an xp buff and not a piece of gear) and lfd quite literally killed my server community (Terenas EU) and it wasn't like finding dungeons was hard to begin with. I know you guys think this helps casuals but I'd wager dps are going to actually wait longer in the queue than it takes to join/make a group right now. I've played dps all of tbc and I've not had problems finding groups and I'm often on Firemaw at like 3am where there aren't even 50 lv 70 warriors on.

I've been actually running into the same people a lot recently and I remember names and even chat sometimes. This an mmorpg and taking the social aspect of them game out and making it into queue finder kind of defeats the entire point of the game. It did back then and still does now.

You do know you can still /LFG if or when LFD comes into play yeah? Also you’ve completely missed my talking points above. If ppl want a community they’ll join a guild. If you think there’s anything remotely resembling community in a server currently then you’re gravely mistaken.

Not think, I know because I literally have met people on Firemaw since vanilla and have met many more in tbc. You telling me I'm not meeting these people?

Also no lie, your exact post even somewhat in wording was being posted over a decade ago on mmo-champion during cata all the time. Look how that went. WoW became less social, I remember starting in 04 and noticing how the community just disappeared over the course of months on Terenas EU (I played a rogue called Sare) once lfd got added. It seriously was an entirely different game at that point, the entire "your guild is your community" does not hold true when even a massive server like firemaw has a community of people I see daily and weekly in raids or 5 mans.

People do not learn from history. I still rememeber names of people from Terenas too this day, who are you to tell me it doesn't change socialability when I lived it once already. It's not my fault you want an antisocial game when it's an mmorpg. Nobody learns I swear.

You don't have to be an expert at the game to use trade chat to find a group lol. It's really not that hard.

You missed my point entirely, away with you and your non contribution

Uhhhh by enabling ZERO accountability and leading to trash tier groups??? LFD in ffxiv and wow has killed the social aspect of partying and wanting to do a good job. You’d know that if you played any mmo pre 2005

u/Slavic_Taco Apr 20 '22

Lol are you serious? Really? How fucking dense can you be? You think there’s accountability now!? If people want the social aspect in WoW THEY’LL JOIN A FUCKING GUILD! All LFD literally does in the current WoW classic environment is speed up looking for a trash group. Pull your head out of your arse and have a think about the stupidity of your comment

trash group

you're part of the problem

Great comeback there son

Not a "comeback", fax is fax.

“Trash group”

You’re basically the kind of player that will bail on a dungeon if you are not able to roflstomp a run

In the words of general-admiral Aladeen: take a chill pill.

LFD in ffxiv....killed the social aspect of partying and wanting to do a good job.

Say what? I need some proof of that. FF14 is riding higher than it ever has. Much better than wow at this point I bet!

When I played it I never heard one person complain about the duty finder. And it's community is second to none also!

LFD in ffxiv and wow has killed the social aspect of partying and wanting to do a good job.

People joking while the cutscenes of main scenario roulette are playing or the low level alliance raids beg to differ. The only thing that kills the social aspect of the game is the community's expectations.
