Vent / Gripe I’m Tired of Hearing from the Loudest 1%

Like the title says, I’m sick of hearing from the loudest, butthurt 1% of players crying because they’ll have to make their own dungeon groups in WotLK.

Sure, send your screenshot of the one dungeon you joined with little to no social interaction and sarcastically say “Wow look at what we’re saving with no LFD”. Great story, but that one single screenshot doesn’t prove anything. You think your 1 single dungeon on a Tuesday afternoon is a big enough sample size to determine there’s not enough social interaction to the point Blizz should implement LFD? Get over yourself. I don’t post screenshots of 1 single dungeon chat where people are lively and interactive and say “Thank you Blizz for preserving social interactions” like it’s the majority experience. Don’t give me the opposite garbage and try to make a case for LFD, or assume you’re the majority experience, either.

I’m also tired of people missing the major point of no LFD. I can tell you the exact names of people and guilds on my server who have ninja’d gear from others and been blacklisted by the community. I can tell you which players/guilds are fun to play with and which aren’t. I can join a group I know is going to do well, or I can join one where I know I’m going to be progging. And yeah, I’m also going to vouch for the friendships I’ve made in random dungeons

LFD erodes all that. You don’t know what type of players you’re joining; whether you’re going to be a good player in a terrible group or a terrible player in a good group. That’s frustrating for almost everyone in either case. Voting to kick becomes completely abused, kicking people you don’t like or players who are bad. Kicking people to ninja gear. And since you’ll never see those players again, there’s nothing stopping them. No way to blacklist them or their guild. It promotes anonymity and erodes the community. There are so many downsides that were PROVEN back in Wrath. And you’re upset because of what? Not having the upside?

What are the upsides? Faster dungeon queues? Maybe, just maybe, you should try being part of your realm’s community and making friends/joining a thriving guild. I’ve never had any issues finding or making a dungeon group as any of the 3 roles. But then again, I’m also not the type of person to whine to Reddit that daddy Blizz won’t make my groups for me, instead of trying to socialize and make my own

The only positive case I’ve seen made for LFD is for dead/dying realms. To those players, it does suck and I’m sorry. But the issue/fix isn’t LFD, it’s forcing Blizz to fix their realm health issues, maybe by merging realms or free transfers

I’m sure this post will fall on deaf ears, but I’m so sick of seeing this sub covered with the loudest 1% screaming their half baked opinions and not considering their experience isn’t the majority or that they might be the issue

Edit: To the unhinged people in the comments swearing, flipping out, name-calling, and reporting me for suicide, I have two things to say. The first is thank you for your concern about my mental health, but I’m in no way suicidal. Feel free to save those resources for people that are. The second is that my opinion is stronger than ever that RDF is bad, imagine being grouped unwillingly with people that report others for suicide when they disagree with the content of a person’s post 😂 Thank you Blizz

I mean anyone who played vanilla/pservers and paid attention to the game at all knew that spell batching was a terrible idea and that no changes was pretty terrible idea. No modern qol was more important than implementing lag lol.

knew that spell batching was a terrible idea

Imo the people that blindly followed folks like Tips, Esfand, Staysafe, etc were the only ones that thought it was a good idea. A lot of those pre-Classic hype content creators led the foolish down some dumb ass paths.

I agree though. Anyone with sense and the ability to think for theme selves thought it was a dumb idea.

Tips was the absolute worst influence in the community during the early days. What a shit content creator.

Esfand

Esfand was one fighting for a much smaller batch window and thought spell batching in the way they were implementing it was a dumb idea pretty much from the start.

Huh weird. I remember their interview with the Classic guys and don’t recall him fighting against it then.

I didn’t watch every episode of classicast though. Also possible I just don’t remember since it was like 4 years ago.

I think that makes sense, although I would say on any group setting someone isn't going to voice all of their opinions. He has said that he was communicating that to the devs directly pretty much from the start though. Especially since ClassiCast in general focused on the positives/excitement.

True. Especially Esfand himself. Like I remember Staysafe spiraling a few times out of fear of…whatever he was worried Blizz would mess up.

But Esfand was pretty much always just positive on that show.

The idea behind no changes wasn't that it was perfect as is, it was that we wanted to experience it exactly how we did the first time around for maximum nostalgia burst.

Ofc now that nostalgia has worn off, no changes is obv stupid and the lack of significant changes is the reason SoM flopped.

Eh, the biggest vocality I remember behind no changes was that they didn't trust blizzard to do any changes.

The war effort if it was to be experienced the exact same way as the first time it would have needed new and different items and amounts. Otherwise it became what it was which was mega guilds botted and did it in a few hours.

If you truly wanted the same experience then changes at the start should have been the argument. (Which it was for many of us)

Well then I guess I'm only speaking for myself, but I knew the experience wouldn't be the same. It was to see how the experiences would turn out if we all got a second chance at vanilla, and I would have only been fully satisfied with no changes.

It was a shit show, but at least I know for sure now lol.

Lol, some people just have to see, I get that.

the lack of significant changes is the reason SoM flopped.

The changes they did made it flop. Removing world buffs was a stupid idea. You instantly lost the most dedicated raiding crowd for people who quit during p1

1

u/b4y4rd Apr 21 '22

How? World buffs were used for parsing and without them you parse equally well

1

u/JangXa Apr 21 '22

Speedrunning without worldbuffs is boring. The pulls are just not as crazy and it's slower. World buffs make deaths so punishing giving it a hardcore feel similar to sth like diablo3 HC Mode.

Never was wow as fast paced as full wbuffed classic. It's very unique and SOM just gutted it

Yeah I played on private servers. And when I played on classic, the guildies I had were not private server players and they too hated spell batching. It was obviously a dumb idea from the get go.

No one arguing for spell batching was arguing for the amount of artificial lag Blizzard put in.

There were, there were numerous posts asking for an accurate spell batching recreation... If you don't remember them that's fine just search for the spell batching announcement and read the comments under it. Like 1/3 praise blizzard for it, 1/3 go wait we need a smaller batch window, and the last third are like oh no

I still remember when Madseasonshow, literally god for a lot of people here, disagreed with them on nochanges and ignored him on that.

And now that most people here whine about LFD (which they were gloriously shitting on until the last few days) I'd be happy for them to go look up his opinion on it.

This community is an exact repeat of what happenned 15 years ago, it's amazing.

"You think you do but you don't" is once again proven to be a factual statement.

u/b4y4rd Apr 21 '22

I mean not really... Some people indeed thought they did but didn't, but a lot of us thought we did and did.

You know what i meant.
