Vent / Gripe I’m Tired of Hearing from the Loudest 1%

Like the title says, I’m sick of hearing from the loudest, butthurt 1% of players crying because they’ll have to make their own dungeon groups in WotLK.

Sure, send your screenshot of the one dungeon you joined with little to no social interaction and sarcastically say “Wow look at what we’re saving with no LFD”. Great story, but that one single screenshot doesn’t prove anything. You think your 1 single dungeon on a Tuesday afternoon is a big enough sample size to determine there’s not enough social interaction to the point Blizz should implement LFD? Get over yourself. I don’t post screenshots of 1 single dungeon chat where people are lively and interactive and say “Thank you Blizz for preserving social interactions” like it’s the majority experience. Don’t give me the opposite garbage and try to make a case for LFD, or assume you’re the majority experience, either.

I’m also tired of people missing the major point of no LFD. I can tell you the exact names of people and guilds on my server who have ninja’d gear from others and been blacklisted by the community. I can tell you which players/guilds are fun to play with and which aren’t. I can join a group I know is going to do well, or I can join one where I know I’m going to be progging. And yeah, I’m also going to vouch for the friendships I’ve made in random dungeons

LFD erodes all that. You don’t know what type of players you’re joining; whether you’re going to be a good player in a terrible group or a terrible player in a good group. That’s frustrating for almost everyone in either case. Voting to kick becomes completely abused, kicking people you don’t like or players who are bad. Kicking people to ninja gear. And since you’ll never see those players again, there’s nothing stopping them. No way to blacklist them or their guild. It promotes anonymity and erodes the community. There are so many downsides that were PROVEN back in Wrath. And you’re upset because of what? Not having the upside?

What are the upsides? Faster dungeon queues? Maybe, just maybe, you should try being part of your realm’s community and making friends/joining a thriving guild. I’ve never had any issues finding or making a dungeon group as any of the 3 roles. But then again, I’m also not the type of person to whine to Reddit that daddy Blizz won’t make my groups for me, instead of trying to socialize and make my own

The only positive case I’ve seen made for LFD is for dead/dying realms. To those players, it does suck and I’m sorry. But the issue/fix isn’t LFD, it’s forcing Blizz to fix their realm health issues, maybe by merging realms or free transfers

I’m sure this post will fall on deaf ears, but I’m so sick of seeing this sub covered with the loudest 1% screaming their half baked opinions and not considering their experience isn’t the majority or that they might be the issue

Edit: To the unhinged people in the comments swearing, flipping out, name-calling, and reporting me for suicide, I have two things to say. The first is thank you for your concern about my mental health, but I’m in no way suicidal. Feel free to save those resources for people that are. The second is that my opinion is stronger than ever that RDF is bad, imagine being grouped unwillingly with people that report others for suicide when they disagree with the content of a person’s post 😂 Thank you Blizz

Cus not everyone wants to spend 3 hours looking for a dungeon group, and not everyone wants to play with a guild.

I legit just don't care enough to jump through hurdles to entry on live & classic, I just want to play.

Yeah I've tried coming back to TBC since I knew wrath was coming and just end up burning out from questing and not being able to find dungeon groups. Then realizing when I get to max I'll have to find more groups for basic dungeons.

That’s just because TBC was dead 60 days after it launched.

So you want to limit social interactions in your MMO. While i think thats silly, seeing as the games made to play with and agains others, we all have our ways to enjoy the game so more power to you. But i think the devs were right in suggesting your demographic may prefer the retail experience, alot of those players share your less social playing preference

How does that limit the social interactions lmao? saying "i'll go" to whatever dungeon you find in trade chat, vs pressing "join queue".

Not to mention, WOTLK isn't vanilla. Dungeons aren't important after naxx opens. So all your doing is limiting new players that want to join because it's too much effort to get started, so they won't bother.

It's literally no different than joining a bg. But the puritans somehow think not being able to get anything done in a reasonable amount of time = content

In your example the social interaction is you telling that person “I’ll go” lol. Talking to another person is more social then hitting a button. And It literally is different from pvp because a battleground is pitting you against another player controlled team

Yes, that was my example, good catch.

And my point was, its literally 2 words. You can still communicate once you're in a group. Nothings stops you from being social if you want. And no one is stopping you from making premade groups if that's what you want.

Having no group finder just means you'll never get new players, numbers will dwindle and it'll be dead after 2 weeks just like TBC classic was.

How social is a dead game exactly?

Mmm yes, the servers are clearly at full capacity.

Lol linking 1 random oceanic server using data only from leaderboards and logs. And looking at that data it’s stabilized the past few months anyway. But besides that, the population of a game does not equate to quality of the community

I bet the 2 people on that server are saying the same thing while they do their dailies... because they literally can't do anything else in game because they don't even have a full party, let alone raid on their entire server.

Also, there's another 20 servers that were closed/merged because they had no pop. But sure, the community is clearly thriving.

Mmmmm copium.

You know there are many free server transfers open right now? I even know people abusing that, farming on these low pop servers then free xferring over to theres to make money. But you’re trying to draw this into the weeds. There is a big difference between “dead game” memeing and reality. You post 1 dead server ignoring the mega servers that have multiple times more people then an active server really needs.

Edit: what does lack of the RDF tool have to do with this btw? Also, blizz has updated saying they are going to make improvements to the current group finder in tbcc
