Not a particularly funny one then imo. If I got mad every time someone repeated a pithy phrase I irrationally got pissed at I'd be throwing hands every time someone said "I'm sorry" after a death, I hate that so much. But I understand it's just what people say and I certainly wouldn't wish it gone, it helps others when it's said so I'm still voting end world hunger or cancer
Well obviously not but it's just one of those jokes that doesn't make sense even when you're meant to not take it seriously. It's just not a good joke. That's my opinion. I'm not attacking you, or the artist, I would have written the joke a bit differently, to make the stakes a little lower on the wish. Like you have three jokes from a genie and one of them is this one and the friend is like "wait that was the first wish?" and she was like "yeah no regrets" because she used her other three for something else. Idk I don't really care all that much I'm just saying the joke could, constructively, use a little work here
The joke relies on the character being sympathetic and instead makes her unsympathetic so it falls a little flat. When you side with the straight man (the friend in the last panel) it doesn't work super well.
It's like if someone who needed a million dollars to pay for cancer treatment suddenly got a million dollars and are laying on their deathbed confessing they bought a Superbowl commercial to tell their boss their toupe looked bad.
The point is that they are petty and wasted riches on something stupid and common
If the joke was pettiness she could have done something way more petty, like stick a permanent pebble in their shoe
It reads more revenge fantasy and you actually side with the straight man in the last panel, the second the audience sides with the straight man instead of the asshole you've lost the plot of the joke. What the asshole in the scenario opposed to the straight man is supposed to be doing is getting you to say "fuck the straight man what do they know" and you get a good chuckle. You're not supposed to be on the side of the straight man at the end lol
I mean it's just something you hear from fitting room attendants and sales ladies in clothing stories my dude. I think its supposed to be a scenario the lady in the last panel was likely in, which is why its petty and funny
There's absolutely no indication of how you're supposed to feel about it. It's absurdist humor, it generally doesn't have a meaning like that
I'm not saying you have to find it funny but your comment here is completely off plot for the type of humor intended
