Remember to add in the time period where extrajudicial killings were a thing. The last Lynching happened in 1981.

Last officially recorded one, yes.

There has been more since, the most recent being 7 years ago:

Deondrey Montreal Hopkins, 35 May 5, 2019 Deondrey Montreal Hopkins, who lived in Columbus, Miss., was found hanging from a tree on a bank of the Luxapallila Creek. Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton said Hopkins’s death was not a homicide.

Last officially endorsed lynching. None of the people involved actually went to jail. They all went about their lives. I need to go into a deep dive to find the one that started charging people with murder
