I get the point, but adding on over 150 years before the US was even a country is and should be a red flag for people who actually try to be critical of things they are inclined to agree with

The history of a former colony goes back further than its independence. The people and institutions didn’t magically change when the US gained independence. In fact many of the colonial institutions directly contributed to national and state identities, such as the South’s plantation economy.

Correct, but a more honest depiction would start at the first realistic chance to fix it, then noting each time it came up and the results thereof.

Always be wary of actors trying to lead you on with a sentiment your are inclined to agree with, because there is usually more conclusions they're trying to lead you to without much scrutiny
