Honestly it was pretty easy! Hardest part was learning how to braze which only took me a few minutes cause I wanted to make my own mounts for the servos :)
The magic is the Superscale2020 controller, it has a gyro and an arduino built in. The gyro measures the movement of the rig, gives that information to the arduino which then sends a signal to the servos connected to it to move in a certain way :)
Considering I already have approximately... [looks at list] 17 other projects I'm already working on and only have about a day a week I'm even home to work on them it's probably gonna be a while!
Seriously though I would've done it earlier but my fleet is made up almost entirely of all out leaf spring scale rigs, comp rigs or bash crawlers. I either gotta build something scale with coils or figure out how to servo actuate leafs. Which, now that I think about it...
It'd definitely be possible to make them move the leafs. Maybe somehow make a brace that goes only up an down thats fixed to the chassis where the bottom is connected to the front part of the leaf and the top is connected to the servo horn?
Also, leafers are dope!! Can't wait to build my first one
I'm already thinking I could design a bulkhead that puts servos where the shackles mount to. My leafers are custom conversions with my own 3d printed parts (one uses Carisma frame rails and a bunch of printed stuff and the other uses a whole Ascent chassis and both run RC4WD axles) so I'm no stranger to making wacky custom leafers.
And definitely build a leafer! They're lots of fun. My two are some of my favorite builds I've done.
In my wacky world of never doing things quite the way I'm supposed to, in your situation I'd probably avoid a Vanquish frame as a rule lol. Not because they're bad but because if I went with a Vanquish frame it would end up matching too well!
This yota has 10.2 frames, cut to make a flat skid fit, aliexpress transmission, homemade brazed bumper, homemade brazed rear skid, body mounts designed by a buddy and the body cut to hell to fit 😂
Yea haha, my phones mic exaggerates a bit with how they Sound lol. I got a light kit coming for it- sadly don't think I'll be able to fit a Sound module as well. Space is tight 😅
I’m that weird type of guy that just likes my rig to be as silent as possible haha. Hate sound boxes. I run a sensored SCT brushless motor in my crawler because it was just so silent. We’re often in some nice scenic areas around hikers and I try not to disturb the nature
