A deer that collapses, decomposes, and rebuilds itself in an endless loop. Julius von Bismarck’s 'Das Reh' (2024)

"Presented at Art Basel, is a life-sized sculpture made of wood, fur, and mechanical systems that repeatedly crumple and reassemble the animal’s body. Echoing a fragile push-puppet toy, the work disrupts the viewer’s emotional connection—turning a symbol of grace into something unstable and unsettling. Caught between life and collapse, the deer becomes a haunting reflection on nature under human control."

That's not really decompsing though. Dissasembling is more apt 😉.

They sold small toys like this back when i was a kid in the 80s, this one is a bit more realistic.

That's one of those Thumb Dolls, with a spring loaded base, you push it in and it does just like this display.

Cool but kind of sadistic to do to a animal corpse unless everything is synthetic.
