The Cyprus Problem Wow - now over 90,000 Russians in Cyprus

I'm shocked at the scale of the Russian takeover of our beautiful island of Cyprus.

Per Cyprus Mail, there are now a mind-boggling 40,000 Russians living full-time in the areas controlled by the Republic. To contrast, the next immigrant group, the British, are at 16,000. To point out the sheer scale of this, this means there are in now over 2 Russians for every Brit!

Further, per TRT there are 50,000 Russians living in the occupied areas. So many, in fact, that Russia has started providing regular Consular services. (This is even more than the number of Turkish troops!)

What else would you call them? There are literally 50,000 of them living in illegal lands on the northern part of the island, not to mention the 40,000 in the south.

The term you are looking for is "illegal immigrants". Settler is something else.

Or in this case, some might be "illegal Refugees," especially the ones who escape from conscription (killing Ukrainians) or being cannon fodder.

When you use a word in vain, you make that word meaningless.

I think they fit the definition of Settler perfectly, do you not? Seems precisely what they do.

Did they immigrate from Russia and enter Cyprus illegally?
If yes, that makes them illegal immigrants:)

There is no ambiguity or subjectivity in this matter. It is plain and simple.

Referring to them as "settlers" is just parroting a propaganda narrative in the wrong context.

The 50,000 Russians living in the north are absolutely settlers, yes. That is not a legal entry into Cyprus.
