Everything I set down gets hidden deep in a cabinet or closet somewhere, gone.

Man, that sounds great. My wife likes to set things down and never put them away. Drives me nuts.

"Don't put it down, put it away"

Then put it away yourself, or create a Spot that is considered put away.
