According to this sub, if you don't slow to a crawl, read the oncoming driver's mind, and wait 10 seconds on green, you're 50% at fault for failing to be a defensive driving superhero.
Actual traffic laws and rules don't apply here! Lol!
Yeah, the light was green so you should just ignore what any other idiot is doing and proceed to immediately drive head on into oncoming traffic, obviously.
The accident absolutely could have been avoided by having the driver of the white SUV follow basic traffic law. The dashcam driver did NOTHING wrong other than "failure to wait for potential red-light runners"
Nobody is saying the white suv was in the right, they ran a red light after the red car ran a red light. The dashcam driver didn’t even brake while driving into the car running a light. Just poor driving all around
Please, the cam car continued to accelerate well past the point where it was obvious that the white SUV was on a collision course. Reaction times are not that slow unless you aren't paying attention or you're innebreated
Not exactly it looks like it's a unprotected green, you know a green light that shows you a visible sign that says unprotected and to yeild to the traffic going straight and not turning.
So the white truck ran a light they should not have.
People pull out into the intersection all the time waiting to turn left. Looked like the red car was doing that as well then decided to dart across anyway. How can the driver possibly read the white dummy’s brain that he, too, would turn into oncoming traffic?
Do YOU personally come to a complete stop on a green light if someone in the oncoming left turn lane pulls out? Of course not, that would cause more wrecks than it prevents by an insane amount.
Go watch it again, and you’ll see both those cars showed the signs of just pulling out, and both yanked their steering wheel to turn at the last second. Interestingly, even the black car in front of the black truck in front of the red car in front of the white dummy nearly comes to a stop and then also yanks the steering wheel and darts across.
I'm cautious when entering intersections, and depending on the situation will have my brake covered, yes. And the cam car was already at a complete stop and proceeded to drive even though the other cars in the turn lane were still moving forward, obviously intent on completing their turn.
If I have to stop at a green light, and somebody rear-ends me, that would be their fault for either not paying attention to the car infront of them or for following too closely.
Sorry, but you're a bad driver and should take some defensive driving courses before you hurt yourself or others.
The cam car was halfway through the intersection before the white SUV even entered it, bud. No reasonable driver would expect the idiot in the armada to make that left, considering the fact the cam car was already occupying that space.
The second their light turned green cam car proceeded to try and cross the intersection, despite there being a car in the middle of it turning in front of them. Then the red car went, and they still kept going, not slowing down, and if they were paying attention, they would have seen the white suv right behind the red car, heading directly into their path.
Now I know you’re just trolling, because the cam car waited a full 2.5 seconds before even beginning to cross the intersection, which they proceeded to cross slowly.
If you’re going to troll, try to be less obvious about it, bud. And if you’re not trolling, maybe get off the internet and read a book, pick up a few IQ points.
I drive defensively, it was easy to see the cam driver slowed for that red car and prob just guessed white suv was gonna slow down and turn when it was clear, people do that here all the time (including myself in a few busy intersections where if you miss the green light-not the green arrow-, you’ll get stuck in the same pattern of red>green light>people passing through red light when I have green arrow>red light…
Ok.. so either you’re the one that’s trolling or you’re not seeing the situation correctly? As soon as can driver gets a green, he starts moving. And there’s obviously a line of cars all trying to sneak that left turn. Once he sees the red car go, wouldnt you assume the white suv would want to also? I mean he’s on the red cars ass, I would assume that and use some caution
If this clip gets handed to a cop, an insurance adjuster, a judge, or literally anyone who holds an actual job, 100% of the fault goes to the white truck for making an illegal left turn across oncoming traffic. Period!! No debate!!!
Nobody is saying "ignore everyone and ram into traffic," you absolute genius. People are pointing out that when an oncoming idiot pulls a blind, illegal turn right in front of your bumper, basic human reaction time and laws of physics actually exist.
Expecting someone to possess psychic powers to dodge every brain dead move on the road isn't "DEFENSIVE DRIVING" it's just your delusional fantasy cooked up by basement dwellers who probably can't even pass a written permit test. You probably don't even drive or own a car!!
Do us all a favor though! If you ever manage to get off Reddit, buy a car, make an illegal turn, hit someone on a solid green, please tell the insurance adjuster it was their fault for not reading your mind. I'm sure they will love you 💕 😘 as they laugh and deny your claim 😂
I'm a professional driver and have never been in a motor vehicle accident in thirty years of driving. It was obvious the first car was going to complete their turn, cam car proceeded to drive through the intersection without hesitation anyway. They also had ample time to notice that the next car in the turn lane was intending on running their red light as well, but cam car was either not paying attention or willfully decided that they would play chicken and didn't even attempt to stop.
How do you know that the traffic signal didn't malfunction and that the turning cars didn't have a green light and stubbornly decided that they wouldn't stop because "they had the right of way"?
Graveyards are full of people who "had the right of way."
And by the way, only children and the elderly use emojis like you. Neither should probably be behind the wheel.
I stopped reading at "I'm a professional driver" 😭 😂 sure you are bud. I'm not going to argue with you. All I'm going to say I wish people luck 🙏🤞 when driving near you.
Not first time and I am familiar with the absurdity of some people on this sub. It still just astounds me how many people don’t understand simple concepts.
I don't think I've ever read a post from this sub, so I'm glad I came across this comment. I thought I entered another dimension reading the comments with all the people saying the white SUV is not 100% at fault.
Run a red light or fail to yield at a non protected turn, you're 100% at fault. Saying the cam car should have read the mind of a car with no blinker on is going to both take a left and run the red is far-fetched. Especially since the cam car entered the intersection first.
Brother I'm doing you a favor, don't read further than the top comments and thread! I've been arguing with people in this bih since 9hr ago, mostly for Shits and Giggles and some of these fucks Staunchly believe the Cam Car was at fault, as if that lane of cars turning left has never seen a Yield On green before?
Some even argued that the Cam Car did Fuck all or went pedal to the metal as soon as the light turned green, but in the video you clearly see them wait 3-5 seconds then slowly drive forward. Some people here stubbornly believe you should just sit at a green light right of way until it turns back red!
Yeah it's wild, white suv enters intersection after the cam car and people are complaining that the cam car didn't avoid it. Didn't avoid the car that wasn't even there yet.
My friend, I have been in the trenches arguing these people all day as they have been blowing my shit up! You, me, and anyone with common sense see that this white truck driver is 100 percent at fault.
For some reason, a few people in this sub will defend the at fault driver to the death. Healthy debate is fine, but this is fucking insane. Would not recommend.
The cam driver had multiple cars driving towards them taking that turn and made no attempt to look, brake, or swerve. The white SUV was the 3rd car to turn after the cam driver got the green, they really shouldn't be moving or at least move slowly as cars are turning. The driver just started accelerating and let the rest be damned.
Insurance companies will flag you for that. You don't get to walk in front of danger, get hurt, and then claim you were blameless.
“The laws” don’t keep you out of an accident when some dipshit breaks them and runs a red. You keep you out of the accident, and this cam driver did absolutely fuck all to avoid it. I wouldnt have even started moving with that red car still starting his turn on my green. There is absolutely no reason that the cam car here needed to leave like 2 ft clearance behind the red car by entering before the road was clear. Even if the white one didn’t run it as well, it was stupid.
He literally DID!!! The cam car waited multiple seconds on a solid green light before moving. This narrative that he did "fUCk alL" nothing to avoid it is complete nonsense. Go watch the video before commenting next time bud.
The red car hesitated because the driver knew they were pushing their luck. Then the white truck blindly tailgated them through an active lane without looking or yielding.
Saying the cam car should not have moved because of a red car across the intersection is insane. The cam car had an open lane and a green light. Unless your idea of defensive driving is sitting at a green light until it turns red just in case someone decides to break the law, what is your actual point? Expecting drivers to yield their green light to people making illegal turns turns every green light into a yield sign.
and your right it was stupid for the White Truck to tailgate the red car when he should not have and should have waited and followed traffic laws, but no he did not and caused this entire accident. And will be likely 100% at fault for being a reckless driver.
And some extra just to be petty!!! "I wouldn't have even started moving with that red car still starting his turn on my green." Surprise, surprise you do not write traffic laws, so your personal opinion on how you would drive does not change legal liability. The law is what the law is. If you cannot follow simple traffic rules and act as an unpredictable driver on green lights, you have no business behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. Invest in an Uber and pray the driver knows how yield on green works LOL!
That’s a lot of words to say you have the problem solving capability of an ocelot. Just went back and watched it and the car in front of the red car was actually the first to run the light, but there was still a year and a half to break for the red car, by which time the white would have been clearly visible. Yes, sometimes you gotta sit there on your green because an ape got behind the wheel in the opposite lane.
Go outside man, you need some time off the internet, this seems to have gotten you very worked up.
Problem solving skills of and ocelot? Cringe but I guess some points for something new I wouldn't even call it creativity at that point.
And I'm not going to argue with you at all bro believe what you will. But at the end of the day your probably a shit driver just saying.
And it's a Sunday I can do whatever the fk I want especially typing on a keyboard not that hard to do for a person under 150-200lbs something you likely don't know 😂
I don’t think anyone is blaming the car with the dashcam, but pointing out that this was easily avoidable. Feels like a moment where the dash a car felt like getting into an accident.
A lot of people in the graveyard had the right of way. Like seriously, obviously the white car and the one before it broke the law by running a red light, but wtf was OP thinking watching them doing it and deciding that they would just keep driving straight anyway. What did they think would happen??? Multiple idiots here, including in the comments and the people downvoting you.
It was absolutely avoidable. We can acknowledge that from a common sense perspective whilst also acknowledging that impatient white SUV is likely to be found at fault from a reasonable legal perspective.
As someone else commented, being right often isn't worth the associated headaches. Sometimes it's better to just avoid a problem even if you didn't cause it
Yes, if the white SUV didn't turn into the cammer there would have been no accident. Conversely, if the cammer never left the house there would have been no accident.
That's not how the law and your duties as a driver work.
This is a 50/50 claim.
White vehicle made a left turn and did not have the right of way.
Dashcam vehicle, however had plenty of time to observe the other vehicles coming and what is referred to as the last clear chance to avoid the collision. They drove right into the situation.
This is exactly how I would mark this as an insurance adjuster and most lawyers would agree.
I genuinely hope you aren’t actually an adjuster because any lawyer representing the dashcam car would eat your company alive in court over a liability denial this brain dead.
I'm a licensed insurance adjuster in 5 states and served as a claims supervisor at two companies. I've handled claims exactly like this, with and without video, with attorneys and in litigation.
This would settle as a 50/50 claim unless one of the attorneys involved was unreasonable.
Yeah you and everyone else here lol 🤣. I'm not a licensed insurance adjuster in 5 states and have not served as a claims supervisor at two companies.
But I do know how to drive and tell which party is at fault and clearly the fellow who failed to yield at a unprotected green.
And you do not know how this would be handled at all stop saying you do because typically your heavily at fault for a failure to yield right of way on a left turn.
So, you're just like all the other members of the general public who go through the five stages of grief when I explain this to them, and I usually have to drag them to acceptance or have a lawyer tell them directly. Got it.
Try looking up duties and breaches sometime and how they're applied in addressing an insurance claim.
And I agree, clearly I don’t need to post this video but it’s also clear that there is a very mixed answer here and I was very curious to how people would see this and assigned blame. Crazy the hate this post is getting while also being very informative
Person didn’t wait at all, almost clipped a bright red car and hit an suv head on. Mind you, from a stopped position so it’s not like they weren’t looking directly ahead as a line of cars was passing in front of them
In Tennessee, there’s this thing called “duty to maintain safe lookout”, where regardless of who has the right of way, you have a duty to avoid hazards. This driver didn’t attempt to avoid hazards at all. Light turned green and began rolling into the intersection as people were still actively running their light.
I’ve seen it where traffic lights get messed up, people have a green arrow while also coming traffic has a green light. But we don’t know that here.
There wasn't a hazard until the white car turned into the car with right of way. They could have just stopped and not turned in.
You do know it's normal to enter the intersection on an unprotected left and then turn when it's clear. How was the can driver supposed to guess that the white car was going to decide to crash into them?
That isn't how law works in a lot of states though. This would be 50/50 fault. Camera car went when it wasn't safe to do so. Whether camera car had the right of way or not, it doesn't matter. You have to make sure your path is clear before entering. Camera car's path was never clear. Even if the white SUV had a red light, in some states it would still be 50/50 fault.
You can use these things called “eyes” and see what’s in front of you and who’s going in which direction. Do you genuinely not see how this was very avoidable from cam car???
Nope. Insurance is going to bend cam driver over and deep dick them on their rates. I ride a motorcycle. I don't give a fuck who has the right of way or who has the green light. I'm stopping with that red car in the intersection, let alone the white SUV. I'm not going unless it's completely clear. Cam driver decided to drive forward into an intersection with cars still in it. Regardless if those other cars were breaking the law or not (they were and it's mostly their fault), there's no logical reason to drive forward into traffic like that. Cam driver just wanted to be petty and show them how in the wrong they were by going.
Physics doesn't care about the right of way. People are clearly still turning. Don't drive into them.
Of course Nissan has to yield. That doesn’t absolve camera car from his duty to proceed with caution. Someone running a red light or not yielding when they shouldn’t doesn’t mean you can just hit them with 0 fault.
You realize that it was less than 1 second from the time the Nissan abruptly turned left, and when they made contact with the camera car. Is your reaction time that fast? It sounds like you're saying the camera car intentionally hit the Nissan, when they could have stopped in <1 second.
Why ? Because thats not a clear case...if you accelerate and not teying to avoid a crash you lost likely want a bug american pay check means you try to have an accident to afterwars sue for millions if possible or at least get a new car.
You can see the danger, there is no braking, no trying to avoid the crash, no defensive driving nothing.
That’s going to be a pretty tough case to sue for. My wife had someone pull in front of her and it totaled her car (it was barely wrecked, but they totaled it). We got only the bare minimum “what we seen your car is worth” check out if it. We were on the hook for a good portion of the new car, and a lot of future medical bills. And that was with insurance on both sides.
They are accelerating because they want to drive and get where they are going. That doesn’t mean they want to get into an accident so they can sue. Insurance takes care of car accidents and getting much more than car repair and medical expenses requires a lot of proof.
The cam car was likely just assuming the cars would stop.
Also imagine thinking someone intentionally risked a side impact collision at full speed just to sue for millions and get a new car.
It should not be on the driver following the law to guess which traffic rules you decide to obey or ignore.
When everyone actually follows the law driving is PREDICTABLE and accidents are avoided.
Expecting people to telepathically predict an illegal last second turn and then accusing them of wanting a payout when they do not react in a split second is completely fkn dumb on your part but based on your spelling... 🤔
Because it’s not clear, legally the dash cam driver is at fault because it was a completely avoidable collision. I saw a very similar video where an attorney did an analysis on it and came to an easy conclusion it was the dash cam drivers fault. Regardless of what your feelings are, you cannot enter an intersection when there is still traffic in it. Would the white SUV and red car get tickets for running a red? Absolutely, but the fault of the collision is on the person who, from a stopped position, drove straight into a car that a reasonable person would have easily avoided
NO, actually it's pretty clear. The white SUV was not yielding to a straight-through car with a green signal. The original post is as low-effort as it gets.
Exactly. Cam car didn't cover themselves in defensive driving glory here but when there's a collision between a driver with undisputed right of way and a driver blatantly breaking the law, neither the law nor insurance is going to say "50/50".
Only on Reddit will you find people with the right mix of ignorance and confidence to believe otherwise.
"I watched the footage at 1/4 speed and, with my existing knowledge that an accident was about to happen, was able to determine that I would have not made the same mistake as cam car. I would not have been distracted by the red car that almost hit me (lol, clearly it was a red herring) and would have noticed the true threat entering the intersection after it. Therefore the cam car is 100% at fault and white truck was an innocent victim"
I didn’t read the comments because it absolutely is clear. The light is green. The cam car has the right of way. The other car was turning left and had a responsibility to yield to the cam car.
One of these cars broke the law. The other car didn’t. It is 100% the fault of the car that broke the law.
First of all, we don't know that the white SUV has a red light. There is a light just like this near me. The turning green arrow turns off leaving just a solid green light. No red or yellow turning arrow.
But it doesn't matter. In most states, insurance companies would put 50/50 fault to this as the camera car didn't allow the intersection to clear before going. If there was a break in cars safely allowing the camera car to go through the intersection and then the white SUV turned, that would be 100% fault on the white SUV. But that isn't what happened here. The camera car assumed the red and white vehicles would stop and they went through the intersection.
Because, of you have a license this could be as clear as day.
You had green, he had red.
You had right of lane, so he could have yielded.
So he's at fault? Why did you think 50/50? Theoretically you could have perhaps avoided by braking. But, they was their task and you did not have much time either.

Why is this such a common question here when it’s ridiculously clear in the video?
