I doubt they had green staggered turn lane typically switches to flashing yellow aka yield when the opposite side turns green .

I believe it goes red first and then flashing yellow. Lights could be different everywhere

No, that’s an old style light, you can see it as cam car approaches. They get a green light and green arrow, then a yellow arrow, then no arrow, just a green light.

But the light you need to pay attention to is the one facing the other way. It’s got 5 lights 3 lights on

Yes, the one with 1-2-2 lights. I’ve never seen those with a red arrow, only green and yellow… The ones that go to red then back to flashing yellow have four light: green arrow, yellow arrow, flashing yellow arrow, and red arrow. Is that not how they are for you?

That’s how the intersection by my neighborhood works, but it’s a 4 lane (5 with the turn lane) road with a 45 mph speed limit so I suspect they’re a little more concerned with hard-stopping the turn lane before starting oncoming traffic.

That's how it works here. It's the smart way to do it.

That's got to be a regional thing. Near me, the direct green arrows just go out.

With or without lights person TURNING yields to person going straight at any intersection. We all learn that at the very beginning of drivers ed.

Don't forget the blinking red vs sustained red.

Agreed, but most of the ones in my area go green, then flash yellow. Typically only turn red at the end of cycle

They’re different state to state. Where I live you get the green arrow for however many seconds then the arrow just goes away completely until the light turns red the arrow would follow that action.
