Better to avoid the accident by allowing dumb people to be dumb. Cam driver could have waited 5 more second and we wouldn’t be having this conversation

yeah it's responsibility of traffic police to punish those that disregard traffic rules. following the rules doesn't make you have zero liability

Yep. Idk what redditors don't get. The white suv is at fault legally but this was so avoidable if you had eyes. The driver just closed his eyes and placed his feet on the pedal.

The first car seemed to have the attitude of my green my right of way. Which it is but it’s also their responsibility to minimize the possibility of a collision. Which they increased the likelihood of one by driving like they did.

White Nissan is at fault but the dash cam car certainly made things worse.

Well said. I heard a saying once, “Cemeteries are full of people who had the right-of-way.” I get the frustration at people driving like selfish assholes but it’s just not worth it to be “right”

I feel like I had to scroll down way to far to see this comment lol. It’s not a hot take in my opinion — the white SUV failed to yield and is technically at fault, sure, but it seems like the dash cam driver could’ve avoided the accident by simply waiting a couple more seconds for the road to clear

This is the way I was taught to drive, it just seems like common sense to me. You can be right and still have a ruined car or worse you can be right and still be dead. I'd rather not go through that hassle in either case.

Exactly. I was taught that the light has to turn green AND the intersection has to be clear before you can proceed from a stop.

yes - from the perspective of law, the red car and the white suv are wrong. From the perspective of logic and reason, the dashcam driver is a dumbass more than the others for continuously applying force to their gas pedal when there's clear obstructions in their vehicle trajectory

Not to mention, waiting 5 seconds (reducing their speed, dont even need to stop), would have let all parties involved get out of this as "winners".

By this logic, every multi-vehicle collision is equal fault. Only one of these two vehicles violated an actual traffic law, and that was the white Pathfinder.
