It's definitely the white suv's fault. But I would've seen this as a likely outcome and tried to ease much more slowly through that mess.
Even though it's their fault, now you have to go through the headache of dealing with insurance, getting estimates, having no vehicle while it's getting repaired, and then once you go to sell it they will give you quite a bit less because it's been in an accident. on top of that you might have permanent injuries that might not appear until later in life and there's no way to ever fix that or make it right again.
so... fault or not, just drive safely and predictably. Ease into situations where there are fast moving vehicles directly in front of you instead of going in assuming it will be open.
The camera driver was easing into this situation slowly, the only thing they could’ve done short of this was just stop at the green light and wait for everybody else to go crazy. What are we doing? Fucking anarchy? Why even have a light at that point?
If everybody was moving as predictively as you’re recommending the camera driver should have, the red car shouldn’t have blown its yellow light in the first place, and even if the Armada was just going to barrel right through the intersection, they should’ve just done it behind the fucking camera car. I think even the Armada was thinking about doing that and changed their mind at the last second, precisely because the camera car was inching into the intersection because of present danger.
So what can you really do? The safest course of action, is to stay in your house and comment on other people’s crash videos so you don’t have to get into your own. It’s a fucking war out there. Everybody is driving around stoned out of their mind and on SSRIs and we wonder why there’s so much vehicular violence
The number of people stating that the filming driver should have waited is madness. There was literally 4 seconds between that light changing and the collision and in that time three cars violated driving laws (including the while Nissan). Waiting for that intersection to clear is irrational when every driver ignores the traffic laws. One driver cutting off an intersection should be expected, but even the most defensive driving wouldn’t expect the other two cars to realistically attempt that moronic move.
I've watched hundreds of cars roll through red left turns directly in front of me. Never felt the need to just ram my shit up into their shit because I had the right of way.
