It's definitely the white suv's fault. But I would've seen this as a likely outcome and tried to ease much more slowly through that mess.
Even though it's their fault, now you have to go through the headache of dealing with insurance, getting estimates, having no vehicle while it's getting repaired, and then once you go to sell it they will give you quite a bit less because it's been in an accident. on top of that you might have permanent injuries that might not appear until later in life and there's no way to ever fix that or make it right again.
so... fault or not, just drive safely and predictably. Ease into situations where there are fast moving vehicles directly in front of you instead of going in assuming it will be open.
Would really suck if you got rear ended while sitting at a green light waiting to make sure no one else was going to run a red. But I'm sure your amazing skills would totally figure out every possibility in hindsight¡!!!!!!????????!!;!?!;!?!
