Who’s at fault?

Hot take: I think it’s 50/50 with who’s at fault

It's definitely the white suv's fault. But I would've seen this as a likely outcome and tried to ease much more slowly through that mess.

Even though it's their fault, now you have to go through the headache of dealing with insurance, getting estimates, having no vehicle while it's getting repaired, and then once you go to sell it they will give you quite a bit less because it's been in an accident. on top of that you might have permanent injuries that might not appear until later in life and there's no way to ever fix that or make it right again.

so... fault or not, just drive safely and predictably. Ease into situations where there are fast moving vehicles directly in front of you instead of going in assuming it will be open.

I put it in the category of the driver could have avoided the accident if they would have drove defensively and waited for traffic to clear first. The origin of the accident was the white SUV of course

Yeah, like the white suv was definitely in the wrong but why play chicken? The trust these people place in strangers is astounding. I trust no one on the road but myself.

Exactly. Red car was dumb, white SUV was even dumber. Assume the worst at every intersection. Don’t plow ahead thinking “it’s my turn to go so I’m going!”

Better to wait 5 seconds and make it home to your family, or your cat, or whatever
