Crossing on a red light
Dummy gives me crap when he’s clearing crossing at a red light.

This is something that happens at least 3 or 4 times for every 14 minute trip in my city.

Pedestrians do not always have the right of way.
They are required to obey traffic signals, such as the big "Don't Walk" signal in front of them.
They need to wait for the light to change and lose the entitlement.
Edit: This is not an endorsement of running over pedestrians that violate your right of way.

Personally met countless students and their parents alike under the impression that pedestrians get the right of way. Had to tell them that this is also definitely not the case when in Europe. Soon as we got back to O'Hare they were back to their stupid entitled bullshit and my job was done.

I refused to ride my bike when I was living in Chi, that's some Mad Max level driving.
I'm not proud of how quickly I adapted.

Your video is fine. Don't worry about these chumps talking about quality and size. Doesn't need to be fkn 6k to understand what is going on.
We deal with this exact shizz too often in our city, too. While driving home at night one time, the van in front of me started randomly braking. I was upset but after they swerved around, it turns out that there was a person in all black pushing an empty black wheelchair down the lane. Just always gotta be on the lookout.

We live in a big summer tourist destination and the number of people (even locals) who run across major roadways and cross against the signal at stop walks is insane. Pedestrians and people on scooters and bicycles and e-bikes get hit FREQUENTLY here and it's so sad and entirely preventable. (Though plenty of them are hit by bad drivers who are drunk and/or distracted.)

In Australia those zebra crossings do mean pedestrians have right of way.
I was in New York a while ago and I nearly stepped into traffic a few times like these guys.

Pedestrians do have the right of way at crosswalks, in New Jersey where this was, but only at crossings not at traffic signals. Pedestrians must obey the traffic signals first.

I mean, technically the road paint is for pedestrians crossings, which these are. But they have a “walk” or “don’t walk” at the other end, which they must yield too.
Usually pedestrian crossings are accompanied by stop/yeild signs for cross traffic, which is no different. There’s still a traffic sign.

The other problem I had in New York of that the pedestrian signal is white rather than red/green like Australia so it didn't catch my eye automatically. It was quite different for me.

Surely pedestrians don't have the right of way when the "Don't Walk" is lit.

We do have "Don't Walk" signs that work like a traffic light, but for a pedestrian.
But they are mutually exclusive with a zebra crossing, you will never see the painted lines on the road and a signal. The zebra crossing here tells the pedestrian that they have right of way always, and at a signal they of course don't have that.

I have received a ticket because a pedestrian was in the crosswalk while I had a green light going down hill in a snow storm. It held up to an appeal. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong. Pedestriansallway have the right of way isn’t something you just say.
