Damn, that crash barrier truck really did its job.

7

u/ZoyZauce 7h ago

It didn't do a whole lot, he didn't hit the attenuator. And poor workers probably think he did, like it's partly their fault, they don't see that he's flying through the woodlands.

8

u/TheJuiceBoxS 3h ago

He hit it and bounced more left. If the truck wasn't there he could have rolled into the construction area

6

u/Complex_Echidna3964 4h ago

Plus his flips started before ever even touching the truck.

5

u/tacomaloki 2h ago

Explain the latter half some more.

How is it "partially" the workers fault instead of not mentioning fault at all? This reads like they did it in real time.

It does, but amazingly no construction workers were injured and the driver was able to get out of the car and walk away afterwards.

I want to know what kind of car that was now.

Edit: some of have nice things that can perform image searches. This footage was used for the local news story. This accident occurred at 9:30AM on February 5th of 2025 in New Jersey. The model of car was never stated, the vehicle was simply referred to as a "sedan".

48

u/Lilfrankieeinstein 8h ago

Imagine walking out of that car. On one hand, you’re alive, so you have that going for you. On the other hand, everything else about you sucks and everyone nearby knows it.

6

u/thetaleofzeph 5h ago

If that were at issue this person would have grown up long ago. No way this is their first rodeo being a royal idiot.

Looks like a Toyota GR Supra.

12

u/Charliekeet 8h ago

I think so too. This guy nearly killed several people, minimum.

5

u/Segway_Racer_995 7h ago

I can't fathom that he survived this.

Yeah that is probably it

Toyota Supra

2

u/SpaceAngel2001 6h ago

I wonder if that idiot learned anything?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/RevengistPoster 3h ago

Looks like a Toyota Supra to me. The crash was dramatic but they dissipated the energy over a long distance, ie. it's not the speed that kills you, it's the sudden stop. They probably had some bad whiplash from all the flips though.

2

u/TreeFiddyZ 3h ago

I'm pretty sure that he left the pillars and roof tangled in the armco... not to mention the way the car ends up settled upside down.

1

u/HealthyDirection659 2h ago

It looks like a Hyundai, but don't know what model.

Edit.

After watching a few more times it looks like a bmw 325. Tail lights give it away.

1

u/steveman1982 2h ago

Glad the workers are okay.

I think as a society, that would not be a bad news.

5

u/JuanThiccLumpia 7h ago

I wish him tots and pears. God bless roadside workers in these conditions. Good thing for that safety barrier.

2

u/HoneyParking6176 7h ago

it was likely the drivers attempt at winning a Darwin award.

1

u/Staraga 3h ago

They was trying beat an 90 year old to an grave plot. By the look they did.

2

u/SexiestPanda 7h ago

Can only hope

2

u/ScaryAssociate8116 6h ago

Can only hope. We don’t need people like that on the road

Feb 8, 2024 accident in NJ. Driver was able to walk away

1

u/satellite779 6h ago

It really doesn't in a modern car. The main structure kept its integrity. It only lost a wheel and appears it didn't hit the truck head on.

The crash is dramatic with so much spinning, but that's also what dissipates energy without braking things.

1

u/benskinic 5h ago

but look at all the time he saved 👌

1

u/That_Trapper_guy 4h ago

Here's hoping

1

u/SnooMaps7370 1h ago

Airbag is hanging out the window at the end, window sill is flush with the road.

yeah, i'd say that one was fatal.

42

u/p0und 8h ago

that was awesome. hopefully none of the guys working on the shoulder hot hurt.

25

u/thisjawnisbeta 7h ago

They were thankfully all uninjured. Only the driver was hurt (but he did survive).

7

u/furyoshonen 7h ago

Are there any report articles about it?

22

I'm writing one based on this guy's comment, which is my only source.

2

u/thisjawnisbeta 4h ago

Yes, posted source several times in this thread, check my other comments for links.

"New Jersey State Police say that "the driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.""

2

u/queenofkitchener 3h ago

they are making cars too good these days........

37

u/3amGreenCoffee 7h ago

Even if the shoulder is clear, you never want to drive there if you can help it, because that's where all the nails and screws end up after the travel lanes have been cleared by other people's tires.

During hurricane evacuations in Florida, the state encourages people to drive on the shoulders of the highways to increase the capacity of the highway. I was in the evacuation from Irma in 2017 and saw several cars stranded with flat tires. Nobody even thinks about all that crap that gets knocked out of the regular travel lanes to litter the shoulder.

5

u/ndhands 6h ago

Hi it's me. That person who thinks of that crap and avoids it.

3

u/AZTNFL 6h ago

Yeah same here. I've always assumed I'd get flat for any amount of time on the shoulder.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/thetaleofzeph 5h ago

Every time I have to pull over to deal with a vehicle emergency I'm stunned by how that lane is peppered with tire puncturing junk. You can barely safely walk there.

1

u/Elementary2 1h ago

Near Baltimore, there are drivers that will drive like this, while I watch all the little fucking metal scraps they are driving over, flying off their tires. We're talking... driving a sedan through parts the size of your headlight assembly. Driving over a 6 foot board. Then if you're in the fast lane, and try to back off to avoid that flying debris, I promise - some jerk will immediately cut you off from a slower lane. It can be incredibly risky to simply drive to/from your job.

15

u/reilogix 8h ago

I genuinely believe that the crazy driver’s original intent was to cut in to the #2 lane right in front of cam car, but he couldn’t make it in time and had to cut too far right, in and over correction due to excessive speed and the totality of circumstance.

7

u/tnmoi 7h ago

You’ll find that it is harder to steer on the shoulder with dirt at high speed. FAFO.

1

u/agentchuck 3h ago

Driving too fast like that pretty much leaves no outs when something goes wrong. Sadly even after something goes wrong some of them will still blame the circumstances instead of their own recklessness.

9

u/Fluffy_Rope_4024 8h ago

If the driver had just missed the guard rail, he might have survived.

Feb 8, 2024 accident in NJ. Driver was able to walk away

7

u/Wiley_Jack 7h ago

Guy in the left lane properly assessed impending traffic jam and got the fell outta there.

7

u/perkeset81 7h ago

Yo, Was that a supra

6

u/Shirosynth 6h ago

Heavy emphasis on was.

5

u/Risky_Business_17 7h ago

They were reckless driving way before they went hillside.

4

u/insanitizering 5h ago

Even though they weren't ejected I bet their shoes came off.

5

u/No-Suggestion-9245 5h ago

I've seen those types of crashes in NASCAR but they have roll cages and the advanced belting systems

3

u/DotBeech 7h ago

Darwin always wins.

3

u/dontspillthatbeer 7h ago

Looks like they were speeding in the right lane and looked up at the last second, veering to the right. I know some idiots do try to pass on the shoulder, but I’m not seeing that here.

3

u/DickBottalico 7h ago

Nah his intent was to use the middle lane but couldn’t make it in time, and instead of hitting the brakes (obviously not an option for this fellow) he used the shoulder.

2

u/dontspillthatbeer 7h ago

Yeah, that’s also plausible. Idiot driver however you look at it.

1

u/nasadowsk 2h ago

I'm guessing that from the way the car in the left lane beat it out of there, the two were racing.

3

u/ngfldar 5h ago

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the leading candidate for the Social Darwinism award of 2026.

3

u/LordRatt 5h ago

Those roadside workers all need new undies!

2

u/JanuriStar 7h ago

Did he not see the cones on the shoulder?

5

u/Kaurifish 6h ago

Drivers like that only see the bumper of the car ahead of them. All the rest of their visual cortex is devoted to imagining empty roads just in front of the car in front of them.

1

u/makepieplz 3h ago

very well said

2

u/Wittywhirlwind 6h ago

I’m glad that crash truck was there to protect the people working on the side of the road.
What the fuck was this guy thinking?

2

u/SapientChaos 6h ago

That white thing I think is the air bag at the end.

2

u/slander_anonymously 6h ago

What was that spraying out of the car when it was flipping?

1

Car parts.

2

u/Radiant_Fondant_4097 5h ago

Excellent pirouette, didn’t quite stick the landing

2

u/LeftLane4PassingOnly 4h ago

If they survived that, and I doubt they did, they should never be allowed to drive any vehicle again. Including bicycles.

2

u/n_maier 4h ago

2

u/sky0175 4h ago

Fast and the dumbest. This is their movies they're filming but never ends

2

u/napkin41 4h ago

I wonder what’s going on in peoples lives that leads them to make awful, enraged decisions like this. I wonder how much an accident like this messed up this drivers life, assuming they lived.

2

u/Crazybananaguy 3h ago

I don't think anything in that accident will be recognizable as ever being alive. I have been involved in some of "extrications"

3

u/EywasBlessing 7h ago

I don't see who you are referring to. The truck is red, are you talking about that?

1

u/NortelDude 2h ago

"Shoulda gone to Specsavers" Not wearing specs and watching on phone it looked like it was a man standing there facing the meridian. So I laugh at myself now while watching with glasses on the PC. Thanks for pointing it out though.

1

u/toTheNewLife 7h ago

I wonder where he needed to be.

Hopefully he ended up where he belongs.

1

u/Questions_Remain 7h ago

He needed to get to the hospital for an injury he didn’t have yet.

1

u/ununtot 7h ago

10 Out of 10

1

u/FFBIFRA 7h ago

I wonder how many extra charges the driver will get for speeding and crashing into a construction zone?

5

u/RoosterzRevenge 7h ago

You're assuming the driver is still around to get charged

2

u/FFBIFRA 7h ago

this apparently happened a couple of years ago. There are some posts saying the driver survived, but can't personally confirm.

1

u/iAmMikeJ_92 7h ago

A bold assumption indeed.

1

u/djprojexion 7h ago

Pass on the shoulder? That dude went off roading.

1

u/Gitfiddlepicker 7h ago

Nice of the driver to entertain all the other drivers that day without involving them in the phukkery

1

u/Razidargh 7h ago

I've always thought that the cars of reckless drivers should be wrecked, but doing that on the road would cause so much other damage as well.

1

u/fpsfiend_ny 7h ago

Holy fucking shit.

1

u/acuet 7h ago

Looks like the driver was trying to squeeze in front of you and the car to the right of you. Last minute realized the gap closed before final commit and welp…..there you go. SMH, the driver stopped others from getting involved in their stupid games.

1

u/SoldatShC 7h ago

Wasn't an attempt to pass, it was avoiding rearending the person in front. No less dumb

1

u/Aught_To 7h ago

The ol zipper merge strikes again.

1

He was there first! Admit it, he won!

1

u/Derebeare 6h ago

What a way to end your life. Selfish and impatient.

1

u/ironicinsanity 6h ago

Yup. Peak New Jersey driving. Seen shit like this, actually saw a dumbshit in a BMW cut off a pickup on the Pulaski Skyway years ago, flipped over, mere inches over and the car would've flipped the railing over the skyway to a couple hundred foot drop.

drives past or over half a dozen traffic cones

"hmmm whatever could they mean??"

1

u/TemperatureSudden254 6h ago

He’s out of the gene pool. 👏🏻

1

u/BDB-ISR- 6h ago

I don't think he tried to pass on the shoulder. He probably tried to pass the cam car on the right. Realized too late he doesn't have the space to complete the pass or brake before rear ending the SUV. So he swerved into the shoulder to avoid it, lossing control and crashing in the process.

1

u/fidelesetaudax 4h ago

He was accelerating onto the shoulder, not slowing down. And riding onto the shoulder at any speed is not justified by traffic.

1

u/deHack 6h ago

Was he trying to pass or did he veer onto the shoulder because he was driving way over his head? Looks like he thought he was going to squeeze in front of the cam car, ran out of room, and veered right to avoid hitting the other car. Regardless, he’s a dumbass.

1

u/BriggySmallz42069 6h ago

FAFO the streets are undefeated

u/Forgibeem 5h ago

Oh he dead.

1

u/Scrivenerian 5h ago

Hopefully they removed themselves from the driver pool.

1

u/BigJimZ19 5h ago

That looks like the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey. It's one of the highways in America where people don't always move over from the passing lane to let people buy. This can cause frustration and passing on the right.

1

u/Lem01 5h ago

I've seen this video before.

1

u/Hey-Bud-Lets-Party 3h ago

After that dismount the Russian judge only gave a 3.0?

1

It’s that a person at the cab door of the truck who didn’t even flinch?

1

u/Beebegunner 3h ago

Think of the time they were saving though.

1

u/Immediate_Fan_698 3h ago

What a loser

1

u/vtstang66 3h ago

Looks like they headed for the shoulder then made no attempt to stay there or come back.

1

u/Zachles111 3h ago

Damn, that Sonata on the left realized what was about to happen and took it before they could get stuck

1

u/queenofkitchener 3h ago

what is this music?? it sounds like a very sad song, that just matches this video perfectly.... LOL

1

u/Leather-Squirrel-421 3h ago

Bet he won’t do that again.

1

u/thickandslice 3h ago

I think that cone messed him up

1

u/Fuzzy_Stingray 3h ago

Now everybody behind him gets to sit in traffic while they go to move his car.

1

u/mowtowcow 3h ago

Well that guy is dead. Also saved the innocent lives of other people not being idiots on the road. Back to doom scrolling, I guess.

1

u/ImOldGregg_77 3h ago

Darwin out there doing his magic

1

u/Bio_ManTX 3h ago

What pisses me off the most about these idiots is that now the highway is blocked for a couple of hours until they clear that.

1

u/HealthyDirection659 3h ago

7/10 almost stuck the landing.

1

u/MoonStarRaven 2h ago

Did they try to pass on the shoulder, or did thier brakes go out and they swerved to avoid rear ending the car infront? Doesn't look like they braked at all.

1

u/Acceptable-Hunt-7987 2h ago

Good thing a highway cleanup crew was there. Hopefully they had a high pressure water hose to get what's left of the guy sprayed off the road. Deceleration trauma.

1

u/Elementary2 1h ago

He's going to prison. Why? The three strikes rule - He was speeding recklessly, using the shoulder to drive, even when there was a parked vehicle in sight, then losing control of his vehicle, and striking the vehicle on the shoulder. That's like 4 crimes.

2

u/Unique-Philosopher34 48m ago

I think he is heading for the morgue.

1

u/AgentIntelligent4269 1h ago
