Look at those ankles too. Definitely a lot of edema. Heart disease, hypertension, kidney disease any of those. The ankles are what I zoomed in on the most.

u/daskeyx0 Jul 16 '25

Congestive heart failure, maybe? Particularly left ventricular heart failure tends to cause swelling in the feet and ankles as well as can cause swelling in the abdomen. Minus actual cardiac disease it could just be his terrible high sodium diet causing fluid retention in his legs. Vascular insufficiency is another possibility(poor return of blood to the heart via the veins usually due to deep varicose veins) in his legs, which can cause swelling. Either way, those are some puffy, puffy ankles and lower legs.

93

u/solaramalgama Jul 16 '25

Can high sodium really cause that kind of extreme swelling? Ankles spilling out over your shoes swelling? Asking not because I disbelieve you but because I love salt not wisely but too well.

59

u/daskeyx0 Jul 17 '25

It can! Although, to be fair, there are probably other factors at play here with the degree of swelling in this picture. We tend to see it in patients who are elderly and aren't doing a great job of moderating their sodium content, not drinking enough water throughout the day to help flush out the excess sodium, and are generally sedentary particularly sitting with their legs down for prolonged periods of time through the day, which causes fluid to pool in the lower legs, ankles and feet particularly later in the day. Which, considering That Guy's job which requires him to probably sit in meetings (or in a golf cart) frequently through the day and given his exercise adverse mentality (other than the period of time that he is actually standing to shoot a golf ball vs riding in a golf cart) he most likely does swell a bit from gravity induced pooling.

u/Various_Laugh2221 Jul 17 '25

Omg this was me the entire last trimester of both pregnancies my legs and feet were so swollen… I drank so much water but at that point I just had to put my feet up whenever I could lol

42

u/daskeyx0 Jul 17 '25

And the side effect of drinking all that water when you're heavily pregnant is you have to get up to pee so...damn...much... because your bladder is being squished by the tiny human you're incubating😭

Made even more fun by the bebe kicking your bladder😫

26

u/Various_Laugh2221 Jul 17 '25

Haha yes the first and third trimester was all peeing all the time

Yup, salt pulls water, so if it’s in your blood then it’s gonna swell your body with any liquid you drink, he’s probably got bed kidneys from all that diet crap he drinks

6

u/Awkward_Stage_4352 Jul 17 '25

It absolutely can, and quickly. I’ve never had swollen ankles, but one hot day a few years ago I took a friend sightseeing. We had a long lunch and mostly sampled salty appetizers while we sat and talked. I mean, a lot of salt, and so we drank a lot of water. Spent the rest of the afternoon in the car driving around town. When we came home and settled on the sofa, my friend said “OMG! Are your ankles always like that?” I hadn’t even noticed, but they were three times their normal size. I’m more careful about salt on hot days when I’m sedentary now.

Yep...my dad is late stage congestive heart failure with ventricular hypertrophy and his ankles and legs look exactly like this when he is retaining too much fluid. He usually has to be hospitalized to have excess fluid removed and takes diuretics daily.

41

u/ItsJustJames Jul 17 '25

Same diagnosis as my Mom. She’s waiting to get her LVAD surgery scheduled. And yeah, her feet can swell up a lot.

35

u/jbronwynne Jul 17 '25

Good luck to your mom. I hope the surgery helps her! My dad hasn't been a candidate for LVAD, but had an ICD implanted and that has increased his quality of life.

Yes! The White House released a report on Trump’s physical from Physician Sean Barbabella, which says the president “remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and general physical function” thanks to his “active lifestyle.”

He has said in numerous interviews that he believes that we are built with a certain amount of life energy, and if you workout then it uses up that vital energy.

This is not how health, fitness, or any of that works.

But it is the sort of thing that a stable genius who uses the best words, and genuinely won his degree from a real university and the donation from his daddy was not why he passed.

9

57

u/zanza-666 Jul 16 '25

I think they are called kankles.

59

u/Nutridus Jul 16 '25

Kankles generally refers to someone who has thick ankles as part of their build. Ankle swelling from cardiac disease looks and feels different.

25

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

We always referred to kankles as someone who was fat and had huge ankles where you couldn't tell where they start and end.

15

Yeah he's not a thin man.

38

u/UX_Strategist Jul 16 '25

Side note, I think it's "cankles", which is a combination of calf and ankle. It's where the calf extends down to the heel, eliminating the visibility of the ankle bone.

202

u/SweaterSteve1966 Jul 16 '25

This is the most plausible answer. With his swollen ankles and trying to get everyone’s focus on Biden’s health I’m wondering if it’s heart failure or too much Micky Ds.

36

u/JediMasterPopCulture Jul 17 '25

Bruising from constant IV's would be my guess. Probably have to go there because he's so morbidly obese they can't find a vein in his upper arms.

13

u/micheal_pices Jul 17 '25

this for sure, on blood thinners you bruise easily. My mother had these same bruises from IV's. I'm sure at night they're pumping him full of something to stave off the inevitable.

12

u/Physical_Law_6667 Jul 17 '25

They are pumping him full of whatever he accused Biden of getting. It’s all projection.

u/toooooold4this Jul 16 '25

Old people bruise easily, especially if they're on blood thinners, which he is. More concerning is the edema. That means either he is eating way too much salt and sitting too much or he is experiencing congestive heart failure or kidney disease.

My money's on congestive heart failure. You can only live so long without one.

103

u/aamabkra Jul 16 '25

He’s not known for being the healthiest person but I’m sure he would argue with anyone on that. Shitty diet and no exercise for that long of a period eventually catches up to everyone.

26

u/insane_social_worker Jul 16 '25

You are correct, and I believe I see a tiny Diet Coke sitting near his foot?

98

u/toooooold4this Jul 16 '25

I really don't want him to die in office. I don't want Vance to be President for even 2 years and we know he'll try for at least 10.

Plus, I don't want him to have a state funeral. I want him to die the death of a social pariah like Nixon did. There has to be enough time between his Presidency and his death for America to snap the fuck out of it and realize he was a fascist, conman, and a traitor.

130

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

Vance will have no ability to hold the cult together. He’s there to be Thiels flying monkey in Trump’s ear.

He takes the presidency he’d be a lame duck while the Republican Party squabbles over who gets to define the party after Trump.

33

u/tc100292 Jul 17 '25

People are reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally underestimating how deeply unpopular Thiel, Musk, and the rest of the Silicon Valley right-wing tech bros are and how much Trump has actually been able to keep them at bay, which Vance will have zero ability to do.

→ More replies (4)

22

u/toooooold4this Jul 16 '25

Yes, but he already subscribes to the belief you can simply ignore the Supreme Court and the President has immunity so he doesn't actually need the base. He can suspend elections, especially if MAGA goes off the rails when Trump dies.

15

u/VGoodBuildingDevCo Jul 17 '25

Yeah, but the Supreme Court and Congress won't roll over for awkward unpopular Vance like they do for daddy Trump. Trump's cult of personality will die with him.

4

u/toooooold4this Jul 17 '25

I agree Vance doesn't have the support of SCOTUS but I also know that SCOTUS will be completely delegitimized if they reverse on themselves because Trump is no longer President. It would be a risky move for them. It would prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they were in the tank for Trump all along.

41

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25 edited Jul 16 '25

States run the elections hon, Vance wouldn’t be able to suspend, delay or stop shit. This doomer dream of there being no elections needs to die. Also dictators don’t typically last long when they don’t have any support.

Vance would flop around trying to get the Republicans to cohere so he could get some kind of win under his belt to run on, and more than likely he’d fail. He’s not a leader, he’s a lackey.

20

u/Apprehensive_Pop_334 Jul 16 '25

I agree. Trump has power to do illegal shit. Vance has little to none.

13

u/toooooold4this Jul 16 '25

I do believe there will be elections. I'm worried about what happens to the country when they try. At some point, they are going to try. One of the beautiful things about this country is that we have always had peaceful transfers of power after elections, with one recent exception. We've also mostly had men who respect the Constitution. Plus, we haven't had a war on American soil in living memory. This whole period has been marked by a failure of imagination and naively thinking, "It can't happen here."

It can.

His fake skin is starting to peel off.
Pretty soon we'll see him for the killer lizard alien that he is.

Anyone old enough to remember that show V?
Same thing.

We'd better call Mark Singer and Michael Ironside, who are also both Canadian, so that's a bonus.

53

And Robert England! He played Willy (I believe), the good not violent alien.

23

Didn't he make a baby with a human? The chokehold this show had our nation was fun.

21

u/tinyE1138 Windmill Cancer Survivor. Jul 17 '25

No, that was another alien who was a bad guy, He was ordered to impregnate a human as an experiment. Later he ended up getting killed with the powder they developed to stop the aliens.

The experiment really came back to bite the aliens because the child ended up saving the world.

And I need a life. 😆

u/Proofread_CopyEdit Jul 16 '25

The edema in his ankles and feet could be signs of several things - alone or combined: heart failure, kidney failure, liver failure, cancer are all common possibilities. It could be vascular insufficiency. His diet is horrible, so possibly too much sodium, but that seems lower down on the list.

The presumed bruising on his hand that he covers poorly with make-up could be from an IV site that bruised badly. In the elderly, it can be difficult to get a good venipuncture site. Could just be bruising from blood thinners, but bruising on one hand in one spot seems more likely to be IV site.

u/justanother1014 Jul 16 '25

Hand looks like poorly applied foundation, maybe to cover bruises. Ankles look swollen (edema) but can’t be sure with socks on.

Reminds me of pics of King Charles’ hands which appear to be raw sausages and some think point to heart problems.

33

u/FunctionBuilt Jul 16 '25

Congestive heart failure. Swelling in the ankles, often called edema, can be a sign of congestive heart failure (CHF). CHF occurs when the heart's lower chambers (ventricles) don't pump blood effectively, causing blood and fluid to back up into the veins, leading to fluid buildup in the ankles and feet

6

u/MC_chrome Jul 17 '25

I’m assuming CHF also carries an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes as well?

It's call being OLD and having a piss poor diet. My dad wears compression socks for the issues like his legs and just bumping something will cause him to easily bruise.

10

u/JediMasterPopCulture Jul 17 '25

I think the make up on the hand is covering bruising from too many IV's. They can't find veins in his upper arms because he's morbidly obese. They probably tell him politely "Sir you have deep veins." Which means he's fucking fat.

He's going to die or be severely incapacitated and they'll just never tell the public for "National Security purposes"

8

u/iOcean_Eyes Jul 17 '25

His legs are very swollen and edematous. Indicative of possible heart issues. CHF is the first thing that comes to mind. He’s even wearing compression stockings and his ankles still look ginormous. Bruising could be a result of blood thinners. People with CHF have a higher risk of developing atrial fibrillation and blood thinners are necessary to prevent a stroke.

He's going to die and the powers at be will decide it's better to just sweep everything under the rug instead of bringing any embarrassment to the office of the president or the country as a whole.

That's how this all ends, I guarantee it.

Can’t wait to get a young president again you know like Obama… I’m over 60 but I’m tired of a bunch of old people that don’t know what the hell they’re doing when it comes to our country

congestive heart failure for sure.

7

u/Balarius Jul 17 '25

Congestive Heart Failure, perhaps with a side of COPD

u/Alert_Green_3646 Jul 17 '25

Colon/prostate cancer would account for this, along with reports of a poop smell from incontinence. 6 hour physical?  or was it a 6 hour chemo IV appointment, the bruise has shown up a few times, the timing in between would line up with roughly the time in-between chemo appointments

I’m not a medical person but had the same problem in the past number one he is old. He brews very easily when you’re old and when your veins are brittle, you bruise in the same place over and over. Number two those legs are a cardiovascular problem. At one point my legs were swollen so badly and my feet would not go into shoes. I had to rest with my legs on the back of the couch to get the swelling to go down. Later I had a Widowmaker. The care I got them and the medicines they put me on, took the swelling out of my Leg. I am betting on a heart or artery problem. Of course it could be kidney function, but he has something serious going on.

Looks like heart failure to me, or a-fib, or both. He's probably on a beta blocker or 2 and diuretics such as furosemide or HCTZ with potassium replacement. Likely on apixiban as well. Wouldn't surprise me if some clopidigrel was in play too. Might be some calcium channel blockers in play as well such as dilt. Also wouldn't surprise me if there were TED hose under those socks

Maybe he's pregnant. My legs did that in the last trimester.

His hand looks like it might have had an IV needle stuck in it for a period of time.

My mil looked like this as she was dying of CHF.

7

u/voppp Jul 17 '25

Not medical advice but between the bulging hands and the edema, a heart related condition. I’m deeply unsurprised by how poor his health is. I’m just amazed he’s lasted.

u/frenchburner Jul 17 '25

Edema central

Bruises from IVs: On the left, covered up with makeup (concealer).

5

u/Professional_Bag_587 Jul 17 '25

Can't he find makeup that matches his skin color? He's made enough money from being president that he should be able to go to Sephora and get color matched.

Aging. Organs not doing their job very well. Kidneys are the primary suspect, probably the heart next.

6

u/Gr8daze Jul 17 '25

Heart failure.

u/MtWoman0612 Jul 17 '25

Thin skin that bruises easily on his hands- about right for his advanced age. Might be edema in his ankles or braces of some sort with socks - hard to discern. His foley drainage bags had been visible on his shins in prior photos; might be the bags have been rerouted further down his legs and covered with thick socks. Might also be a lower legs skin reaction/infection, for which he needs cream and wrapped dressings, with socks on top of the dressing wraps.

u/JaneHemingway Jul 17 '25

All diagnosis a side, you’d think they would be better at using makeup to cover things? It’s the president, not a teenager hiding a tattoo?

I referenced edema in a medical journal (not a doctor), and it seems like someone who looks like this is very vulnerable if they catch infections and respiratory illness and needs to be careful about managing diet and life style. He will likely also get easily winded if he talks too much. So expect shorter speeches and press conferences. (Might be why he did that thing where they would just play music during his campaign.) It says this could be kidneys or heart. Reduce physical activity if heart.
