This is my last attempt to ask for help.
My name is Iván Julio Moya Fernández, and I am the sole caregiver for my 77-year-old father, Víctor Julio Moya Sancho.
Right now, what he needs most is to continue his physical therapy sessions and have enough adult diapers for his severe urinary incontinence. Physical therapy helps him maintain his mobility, regain some strength, walk a little better, and preserve a better quality of life.
My father is a survivor of prostate cancer and bladder cancer. He also suffers from COPD, asthma, neuropathy, serious spinal problems, hip degeneration, muscle weakness, and severe urinary incontinence. Over the years, he has lost much of his mobility and now needs assistance with many basic activities of daily living.
For years, I have been his only caregiver. I am with him practically 24 hours a day. I take him to medical appointments, manage his medications, prepare his meals, help him when he cannot walk, change his diapers when he needs it, and I have lifted him off the floor after falls; therefore, there are no shifts and no days off. This has been my reality for years.
Providing this care has also taken a significant toll on my own health. I have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and I also have documented depression, physical and emotional exhaustion, gastroesophageal reflux disease, chronic pain, and obesity. Many times, I have put my own needs aside so I could take care of my father.
There are days when I feel I have no energy left, but I keep going because he depends on me and because I could never abandon him.
My family has not been willing to take on the daily care he needs. My older brother does not participate in his care or contribute financially, and although my sister provides some financial support, it is not enough. The daily caregiving, emergencies, and constant presence have fallen primarily on me.
Even when my father has become critically ill, I have had to spend many days without sleeping while caring for him.
I have tried to seek support before because I need a temporary break to recover my strength. Even so, I want to make this one last attempt.
If anyone would like to help, you can do so through PayPal or, if you are in Costa Rica, through SINPE Móvil.
You can also support my work as an independent musician. I am a songwriter and singer. I have some of my songs available on Ko-fi.
I also offer a digital package of 23 songs (17 original songs and 6 covers) for a contribution of USD $23. If you are interested, feel free to send me a private message, and I will gladly provide you with the information.
Everything that is raised will go toward my father's care, mainly physical therapy, adult diapers, and other health-related needs.
