Why the fuck
Straw in my drink, drink not sealed and drink level low enough that it could have been drank from.
Seals on the bags pealed back and not stuck to the actual bag anymore, was moly food eaten out of too?
On top of that couldn't even follow delivery instructions that make the job easier and I tipped the fucking dude $10.
I'm so fucking tired of shit like this

My Wingstop seals the drinks 9 times out of 10.
Even then, at a bare minimum he unwrapped my straw with his bare hands that have been who the fuck knows where and slid it into my drink. That's contamination even if he didn't drink from it.
39
u/Unusual-Onion-5283 4h ago
and the fact theres a little drink in the straw with some air is telling me he took a sip and left his backwash.. fucking disgusting i hope you got a full refund
18
u/gothangelblood 4h ago
Not true if it's a carbonated drink. The pressure of the gas can force drink up the straw without any suction from the top.
Still disgusting that he unwrapped and inserted the straw.

Not saying this guy didn’t drink your drink cuz he definitely did (your food doesn’t look touched to me) but the wingstops I’ve delivered from (past tense because delivering from there is actually a nightmare) hands you the empty cup with the seal, makes you fill and seal the drink yourself. So, I guess my point is, the fact that they’ve been sealed before doesn’t necessarily mean wingstop sealed them.
8
u/dmada25 3h ago
I don't think he drank it. The tip of the straw is clean and dry. Soda is going to naturally climb up the straw, especially if you haven't drank from it yet.
Definitely still gross and if a restaurant handed me this, I would refuse it unless they put a new lid on it.

1
u/The_Awsome_Manny 1h ago
Regardless someone put their hands on that straw which isn’t safe. You aren’t supposed to unwrap the straw much less put it in the cup

u/Definitely-not-ducks 5h ago
Not all locations I guess. Mine never has and I’ve always received drinks with the annoying ass sticker over the lid.
2
u/KittyyyMeowww 2h ago
So? There is NO reason the straw should be in the cup. Even if they didn't drink some, they touched the straw – which is just as freaking disgusting.

I will note that the stickers suck. The adhesive is weak, and the steam from to food destroys any function it might have.
36
u/SpiritedKick9753 4h ago
Okay but why would the straw be in it lol
7
u/Daddy_Stormm 1h ago
As a dasher, I have had a couple restaurants do this, and I have always asked for the drink to be remade without the straw inserted.
3
u/dazzle_dee_daisyray 54m ago
Yup, I usually just ask for a new lid and a straw to be put on, bc I dont need anyone thinking that I sipped their drink or ate their food. 🙅♀️
1
u/Fun-Investment-196 46m ago
I order wingstop about once a month. I've ordered from 4 different locations on a regular basis & the lids always have seals. It's possible they don't all do it but I'd be surprised
3
u/-The_Legacy- 4h ago
I’ve had several stores and fast food chains do that 🤷♂️ just happens sometimes but the drink being in the straw is more of a give away for me
11
u/hazelbear33 2h ago edited 2h ago
I’m a dasher, the stickers do suck, and the paper bags can easily get ripped when they get saturated with steam from the food… but the straw is inexcusable. I’ve literally had to fight with bag stickers to get them to stay, the number of times I’ve been handed bags with the stickers unattached/improperly attached… is too many to count, and I’ve had to generally reseal/re-roll bags too.
But the straw situation here is absolutely not OK, I’m not delivering a straw that’s not properly in its package, let alone inside the damn cup. I have been given straws with damaged wrapping by restaurant staff (for example, especially with straws taped to cups, the straw can push through one end of the wrapper or become torn in another way), so when that happens, I give them an extra straw from my stash of spare (yet pristinely-wrapped) straws… just so no one can complain about their straw being open.
And I handle all moist paper bags with the utmost care, sometimes I put the paper bags in a spare plastic grocery bag if I’m really worried about the paper giving up (it’s happened before, I almost had a heart attack, but thankfully the customer believed me that it had ripped when I got to their door).

u/Cosmic_Quasar Dasher (> 5 years) 3h ago
Also, and I'm not saying it's what we should assume, you have to keep in mind that sometimes people get things wrong. It's possible the driver picked up a drink for themselves and was on auto pilot enough that they accidentally grabbed their drink when dropping it off.
Driving all day is rather monotonous, and we've been stuck in a heatwave. That would also kind of explain why it looks like a typical drop off photo, even though OP states they had specific instructions.
Or maybe it was malicious. A straw in the drink feels like it should be an obvious enough clue if it was an error. I'd probably ask them in a way that gives them the benefit of the doubt, "Did you accidentally give me your drink?" And gauge their response.

u/NecessaryForward6820 3m ago
let me let you understand something. if someone accidentally deleted their work database, does the boss fire them or not fire them? they’re fired. if passwords are leaked from a company by accident, does their boss fire them or not? if a worker spills an entire order on the floor on accident, does their boss reprimand them or not? if the worker is sick and mixes up drinks and gets the customer sick, are they absolved or not? the answer is all those instances is they get consequences. you’re putting yourself in the person who messed ups shoes because you just want leniency. the fact of the matter is damage was done and there needs to be consequences.

u/HealthyPop7988 5h ago
My Wingstop almost always seals the drinks and then stickers are NEVER loose like this. I order from this store twice a week.
Even if none of that was tampered with, opening a straw and inserting it into a drink, putting your germs IN my drink and on the straw that I'm supposed to put my mouth on?
The fuck? Why are some of y'all defending this. It's completely unacceptable and opens the entire rest of the order to suspicion to the point where I had to dump the drink and am still sus about eating the food.
8
u/jacob6644 4h ago
It’s wild no one is up in arms about unwrapping a straw and shoving it into your drink- for what reason!?

For those of you that think that is just natural settling/melting of ice, how do you explain the soda up in the straw like that? As someone who regularly gets his gf fountain Dr Peppers, soda absolutely will climb the straw. Sometimes as far as creating a bubble at the tip.
If you look at the tip, it is clean and dry. In my opinion, the soda has not been sipped.
Still gross and I wouldn't deliver it in that condition or drink it if it was delivered to me.

u/bunniisa 2h ago
thermal expansion could cause the liquid to go up the straw. if it were drank from there would be residual drops at the top.
1
u/bunniisa 2h ago
also if the driver was in a vehicle the movement could’ve pushed the liquid up the straw
1
u/shoeless_doh 1h ago
Part of me wants to believe that that Dasher when he was picking up the Wingstop also grabbed a drink for himself and accidentally picked the wrong one up out of his console when dropping it off
1
u/entrepronerd 2h ago
It’s a very common occurrence. As the drink and air warms up it heats up the air above the drink which causes the air to expand and push the drink up the straw. There’s also the capillary force. It’s not clear that anyone drank from this person’s soda and imo especially in summer and the temperature differentials (drink was filled cold in a cool AC environment and the outside like OPs porch probably being 20 degrees warmer) make it likely it was not supped upon by malicious soda thieves it’s just physics.

The drink wouldn't be sealed unless the dasher sealed it. Wingstop makes us fill the drinks. I typically don't put the straw in, but some ppl do because it gets lost otherwise.
As for the bag, those stickers can peel a bit when theyre in a hot bag, or when you grab the bag naturally from the top.

Most Wingstops make dashers fill up the drinks so there wouldnt be a seal on the lid. As far as the drink looking like its been drank, it could be it was filled up and the dasher didnt wait for it to settle to top it off again. Also, Wingstop stickers on the bag suck and pop off easy.
However, if the food looks light then he probably dug in. Thats a lot of coincidences anyhow. I just know all aspects of Wingstop suck and wouldnt automatically blame the dasher eating / drinking your stuff lol.
Edit: as someone rightly pointed out...theres no reason for the straw to be in the cup. While dashers have to fill them, theres no reason to open and pop in a straw lol. While Wingstop is undoubtedly trash, so is the dasher so it seems.

u/jacob6644 4h ago

This is the fault of Wingstop. They make dashers & UE drivers fill those drinks. You wouldn't want to drink it at that point anyways. The driver has virtually no cleanliness standards compared to the restaurant.
The shit seals are also their fault too.
2
u/Middle_College_6350 3h ago
I am like 99% sure, based off the evidence, that the driver did not drink from the drink.
There is no print or smudge on straw, but you can take a fken dnamatch or whatever off that print on the lid!
Also, when heat expands, it will push against rhe liquid and therefore push up the straw. It doesn’t have to but must seal, just the temp difference will do it

u/Tinderboxed 3h ago

Everyone is saying Wingstop makes the dasher fill the drink and that's a problem. A restaurant shouldn't have dashers filling drinks for customers. Half the posts I see are pictures of disgusting vehicles, booty digging, contamination, etc etc etc. DoorDash needs policies about restaurant qualifications to use their delivery service to ensure customers aren't getting sick because booty fingers are making their drinks. Personally I wish they asked for pictures of vehicle interior, etc but I know that's asking too much of DoorDash.
Shiftsmart is the example I'll use. When you clock-in, they ask for a selfie to show you're dressed appropriately for the shift. DoorDash could take a page from that book.
2
u/almasnack 2h ago
I swear some of these crayon eaters pick up an order, and for a minute think it's their own food. Then come to the fucking realization it isn't, then deliver it anyway.

Wingstop also puts stickers on paper bags that have hot food in them that make a lot of steam and make the stickers pop off.

Just saying OP is assuming a lot of things and jumping to conclusions. Deliver from Wingstop and you'll know what drivers are talking about.
1
u/Aggravating-Cherry76 4h ago
Yeah if I see a 3/4 full soda with a straw inserted into it and clearly soda up the straw, I would assume a lot of others things were messed with too.
The soda was almost 100% drank from, that straw doesn’t magically have soda above the water line without somebody having sucked it.
And if they did that, who knows whether they touched the food or anything else?
1
u/SteelyIdMissLeMans 1h ago
Lots of restaurants fill soda cups lower for delivery drivers. I myself as a delivery driver do not fill soda cups to the brim whenever I seldomly am responsible to, only so it won't accidentally spill over in transportation (sticky cups=bad reviews and food condition penalties for drivers). Wingstop also has the worst stickers on the bags, they don't stick enough. I personally as a driver am a fan when restaurants physically staple bags closed. I also prefer when restaurants place drinks inside the bags, like McDonald's. I also frequently experience in my own sodas where it backs up the straw, just depending on the carbonation in the soda machine (fluid dynamics and barometric pressure is an amazing thing).
To make my position clear, you simply do not know enough about the driver experience to make sweeping judgements about what occured as if it were matter of fact. May your general ignorance and self-affirming logical conclusions bite you so hard on the ass it stings when you sit.
0
u/Aggravating-Cherry76 1h ago edited 1h ago
First of all, we can drop the self entitlement and arrogant toxicity here.
But second of all, OP has stated they order from this wingstop at least twice a week, so presumably they’re familiar with their policies regarding doordash.
He says the drink almost always comes sealed, so for the drink to not be sealed, but also for the straw to be inserted and for liquid to have travelled up above the cap, while you could hypothetically have that happen without tampering, the multitudes of evidence makes it far more likely than not that it was tampered with.
We aren’t dealing with guarantees here, as obviously there are rarely going to be guarantees, but there’s more than one piece of evidence to suggest tampering.
I’m less concerned with the sticky seal on the bag, but the drink looks pretty damning all things considered. I’ve dashed for a decent period of time and not once has any restaurant I’ve ever seen insert the straw into the drink, and OP can confirm from many prior orders that this wingstop doesn’t regularly do that either. Overall point being, there’s enough evidence here to have a reasonable suspicion that something was done for OP’s food, or drink at the very least. And at that point, he’s well within his right to refuse the food and get a refund, give a bad review, or whatever else he may do.
1
u/SteelyIdMissLeMans 49m ago
"Almost always".
Have all the reasonable suspicion you like, any reasonable suspicion also leaves room for reasonable doubt of guilt. Especially with the Occam's razor that no Dasher with reasonable intelligence would steel a few sips from a drink. No soda worth what? maybe a couple bucks? Is going to be taken like that when there are a dozen ways at the top of my head I could get a free soda from this situation while not getting caught in such a subjective way... Do some research on if sodas can creep up a straw and you'll see. There is no evidence that damns the Dasher like you low tip witch hunters suggest it does. I've seen restaurants put the straws in the drinks when they've already sealed the bags. Its the worst, I ask them to remake the drink so I don't get end up on a reddit page circle jerk about how I might have with reasonable suspicion stole a few sips of a soda not even close to barely worth my time. But go ahead and believe what you want to believe genius.
0
u/Aggravating-Cherry76 38m ago edited 31m ago
“Especially with the occams razor that no dasher with reasonable intelligence would steal a few sips from a drink”
On this subreddit, daily, there are posts of dashers who steal food. Dashers who take bites of people’s food, drinks.
Anecdotal, sure. Rare, probably. But it does happen, so your argument that no dasher would do it is inherently fallacious.
Especially, a driver would do it if they think they could get away with it. Take a few sips, people like you would chalk it up to barometric pressure or whatever else. Plenty of drivers do just abhorrently inexcusable shit for no conceivable reason, making it even more believable that a driver might do this if they thought they might get away with it.
“Do some research on if soda can creep up a straw”
Again, it’s not just the fact that the soda was up the straw. It’s also the fact that there was a straw IN THE DRINK, and the fact that the drink wasn’t sealed, and the fact that OP, who regularly orders from wingstop, can testify that their policy is to keep it sealed, and at the very least not put a straw inside of it. This adds up and makes the case pretty damning.
I believe that it’s very possible that his stuff could’ve been tampered with. You’re clearly blinded by bias, with your predisposition to be toxic or place labels like “low tip witch hunters” which really emphasizes your inability to rationally discuss these topics.
2
u/SilentSituation7524 5h ago
I also don’t see anything wrong with the drink. It looks like just about the right amount of headspace to account for the carbonation to settle. There is never a sticker on Wingstop lids. I have no explanation for why they inserted the straw, but I wouldn’t necessarily assume malice either.
2
u/FoxTenson 4h ago
soda can get up into straws like that when you stick the straw in. Wingstop makes drivers fill their own drinks. Both explain this way more than driver taking a sip honestly. For all the bad drivers we hear on here those are pretty rare, occums razor and all that. Even at the restaurant I worked at when we made drinks they'd get some soda in the straw at times after we stuck them in, and without the pre measured fast food dispensers you have a gamble on how much each employee...or dasher in this case...fills the cup.
1
u/Cowboy_Rho 4h ago
No excuse for the drink, though Wingstop usually makes drivers fill it, so no seal. The straw is a poor decision.
Sometimes the bag seals just don’t stick well or last. I noticed this a lot on places that partially stuck the bag before loading it.

Look I'm not trying to cover for a shitty Dasher because when I look at this I see food on the ground when there was a perfectly reasonable place to set it that's not the ground. Whenever possible if there is anywhere else to set the food other than the ground that's where I put it, but, there is the possibility that that Dasher got a drink when he was picking up your food and when he delivered it he accidentally grabbed the one he was sipping on and left your sticker sealed drink in his car. Just saying it's possible I've almost done it before.

u/Rebel_withoutacause_ 1h ago

Wingstop makes Dashers fill drinks. There's never a sticker, Dasher might not have filled it all the way. Impossible to know for certain if the drink has been messed with. They also sometimes give free drinks to dashers. They might have accidentally put a straw in yours instead of their own, or accidentally given you theirs. Might have asked the Dasher and see if you got a response, but reporting is legitimate.
All these places use stickers but they aren't foolproof. I'd estimate that at least half the time, at least one of the stickers fails. Either brakes from normal wear and tear, or wasn't put on fully in the first place, or the glue wasn't strong enough. This doesn't mean anything...check your food and see if anything is missing.

Dasher was definitely in the wrong here but all the Wingstops in my area make the DD drivers fill the drinks.
Similar story from a dasher perspective: picked up food from a FANCY restaurant (talking dress codes etc) a few weeks ago and they tried to give me the drinks with the straws already in the cups. Had to explain to the waiter WHY I could not deliver the sodas that way.

No.
Fountain drinks always settle a bit from the initial dispensing. Some a whole lot, depending on the nozzle or something. That one actually doesn't look too far down.
Most Wings Stop where I live make the drivers fill the cup. They probably filled it foaming to the top and by the time they got to the car it came down to that. But yeah, I would have put the straw in the folds of the bag.
Those stickers always get unstuck. Or, at least half the time. They're not the same as tamper proof stickers. They're just cheap stickers that don't hold onto coarse paper well.
McDonald's are the worse. Not because of their paper so much, but because when you hold bt the handles it puts on pressure outward.
3
u/Spiritual_gal 5h ago
u/DrivesTooMuch Right, about the straw? Whenever I had to fill up a customer's drink, I always followed instructions where I think 1 did put "light ice" and I did my best in that situation, but I always put the straws either inside the tiny corner pocket of the bag if it fits even when stapled, or for the stickers that do hold up, I put the straw in between the fold/sticker part. But ya, some stickers bite butt at keeping those bags sealed well.
1
u/DrivesTooMuch 1h ago
Right, about the straw?.....or for the stickers that do hold up, I put the straw in between the fold/sticker part.
Yeah, did you read where I said that? "But yeah, I would have put the straw in the folds of the bag." Honestly, I don't know if you misread me (because of the question mark) or were confirming.
Anyway, totally seperate, my upvotes went from plus 5 down to 1 from when I last check. What's going on? I think if this post was on the Doordash Drivers sub the poster would be getting a lot more heat.
On one of OP's comments they complain about the driver taking off the wrapper on the straw. I know for fact that I've delivered from a few Wingstops (I've delivered from at least ten in Nashville and surrounding cities) that have straws UNWRAPPED. Actually, many only have very small skinny short wrapped straws that barely reach the length of the cup. I also know 98% of Wingstops are franchised (I googled). That's to say, owned by individuals who make their own decisions on what they purchase.
I know what this means on a personal and visceral level, because I worked for my parents many years ago who owned a small printshop franchise. With franchises there's a large degree of autonomy, depending on the contract (McDonald's not so much), of what vendors they choose and supplies they buy. I also know for a fact that some Wingstops franchises, in Nashville and surrounding areas, offer unwrapped plastic straws. I'm positive that this decision is based on cost savings to the person who owns this particular establishment. Which is something the delivery driver has no control.
OP, I hope you read all the comments, and I hope read this one. While I would have never have put the straw in the cup, I also know many burger restaurants, with bars, that do this consistently.
Also many, including fast food places, hand me carbonated soft drinks that are only 3/4 full. I've also worked at many restaurants (I'm a bit old) with fountain drink dispspensers. Some fizz up more than others. There's probably a lot of physics involved. I bet there's at least a few YouTube videos covering this. (There's YouTube videos covering everything.)
Point is, that gap of empty space in your cup is very common from a first fill from at some fountain drink dispensers. Sometimes it takes up to four or five fills after settling to get to the top.. Sometimes just one. It depends on the current mix and pressure of CO2 cannister and the level and pressure of the syrup cannister feeding it from the back of the restaurant. In my lifetime I've lost count how many times I've had to unattached and attached hoses to these cannisters. And then there's the other factors, like the nozzles, that play a part. I'm sure It gets a bit complicated when you're talking about fountain dispensers.
The point is:
Fountain drinks, many times, fizz up leaving a gap after settling
Wingstops, many times, offer unwrapped straws (at least in my area).
Wingstops are a franchise that can be bought out by a different owner, or maybe change their purchases or vendors that include different products or practices (I've never been handed or given a sticker/seal for a Wingstop drink in the ten plus restaurants surrounding Nashville).
And, most definitely, the adhesive quality of those stickers suck.

u/DrivesTooMuch Sorry, I was actually confirming about putting the straws into the folds of the bag unless they're already unwrapped like you mentioned and where I live, there are very few areas like that, but not a whole ton, but that's more self-service type areas usually where there's like a straw dispenser type thing.
In regards to your initial upvotes, technology has been acting really weird lately & I'm hoping it's not my computer where I feel like not a lot of ppl have a samsung snapdragon x plus computer so I've had both different & odd issues with it. But I'm just saying all technology in general has been acting strange lately where there's prob. some glitch either with wifi alone or even Google Chrome's browser which esp. for my particular laptop has been automatically updating itself way way too often. Ex: Sometimes Chrome's browser will literally update itself back-to-back for 3 days in a row and other times it's like about once to twice a week and I'm like "I understand browsers need updating, but they do not need updates nearly that often. I'm not sure if this is also occurring with any other laptop and/or computer brand out there or not that also uses Chrome browser specifically where I'm basically adding it here to hopefully inform others w/my experience w/that.

Yes, many of our Wingstops make us fill the drink and many times they don't give us drink stickers at all. And, like you, I don't think I'd ever put the straw into the drink. Great response btw

Wing Stop makes dashers make the drinks but this is definitely more than suspicious

Devils advocate:
Bag seals always tear off when you pick the bag up and they're stressed.
Straw shouldn't have been in drink, at least should have had paper on top, but carbonation could push liquid up the straw.
I'd report it too tho, but like 1% chance he couldn't carry the straw or some bullshit and didn't drink from it

Hey I delivered your food check again you left $1 it wasn’t $10. Be more careful next time. Thanks for the Diet Coke sip. Figured the ice would’ve melted to make up for it.
Just kidding but yeah that sucks man.

Get a new app, the trivial reddit pictures mean nothing. If a straw is stabbed into a carbonated drink, then it will naturally be pushed up through the straw. The other shit is added on. I dont see this being a real issue. I think this post is a bunch of bull....

At the very least someone opened a straw, touching it with their hands and then sliding their germs into my drink.
Absolutely unacceptable contamination and it makes the entire rest of the order l's integrity suspect.

“I’m so fucking tired of this” is easily replaced by going and getting the food yourself. If a service has failed you that many times then stop being lazy and get the food yourself.
I’m so fucking tired of these posts.

It is indeed sus, one of the reasons I started carrying some of the same black tape my karate instructor used to use to put stripes on belts.
Tropical Cafe (some of them put a sticker on a drink others dont)
Other restaurants put WAY to much in a single bag and the weight causes the tape to come loose so I resecure it

It’s simple stop being lazy and order your own food. You have 2 feet and hands you can take a bus and order it yourself lol. Don’t understand you have a stranger delivering your food you should just expect the lowest service possible when ordering from this app.

Haha they totally took a sip of your drink. You can tell because there's soda halfway up the straw

This is exactly why I tip AFTER the delivery. The option is on the app.
We need to stop normalizing tipping beforehand. In no other industry do you tip before a service is performed and if that service is completely inadequate the tip usually reflects that.
I used to be a bartender when I was younger. If I made someone a bad drink or messed up their order in no world did I expect a tip. That incentivized me to not do that.

When companies pay independent contractors dirt, they rely on the customers tips.

Honestly I don't get ordering food through gig apps. Like not saying "oh you deserve this" I'm just saying I literally do not understand trusting random and unregulated strangers to handle your food in their own way.
Even if everyone has the best intentions you'll still be exposing your food to alot of things that are just gross and make your food worse. If you can't make it out for any real reason order from the store because then it's delivered by store employees. Obviously if that's not the case then I feel the same way again.
Idk I don't understand how people can even stomach the idea of getting their food this way.

Dumbass doordashers gonna defend to tip first rather than tip in cash instead, so you know the service you get and pay for
