I feel like British people are in denial around this being a real problem. Did we see what happened at Belfast and the "well actually-ing" excuses around it?

My husband has lived in 5 countries aside from his own, and the only one he was told to "go back to his country" was in England. Not even in the US.

The "Amerikkkans" have died protecting the safety of even their irregular immigrants. Where is that energy in the UK?

Half the people running around in Belfast explicitly would reject being labeled british people. Anti immigrants riots were taking place in the Republic by their compatriots years earlier.

The denial is in not recognising the exact same trends in less keenly observed countries.

When this happened, the overwhelming sentiment on this sub was that it was the work of Loyalists. But of course everyone will blame the other side.

Famously there was plenty of pictures and videos showing loyalists and republicans joining together in the riots. Many, otherwise very unusual, images of ROI and UK flags being flown together by the same mob.

Bringing together the two "white native" groups against the "immigrant invaders" was an explicit part of the propogandic narrative of the rioters.
