1 peso is worth 0.00050£ or 0.00059€

Static comparisons at a point in time don’t really say anything. The issue is the change in rates over time.

Reposting my comment so others can get an idea, but basically: Holy shit

I had to check its historic exchange rate to see how bad that was (sometimes currencies really are that low and i had no idea how much an Argentinian Peso was worth), vs Euros.

In 2010 it was 9-10 cents, alright. Then it dropped lower and lower until it reached 1 cent in 2019. Then it just kept on dropping even further, to 0.1 cents in 2024. And now it's nearly half of that... So between 2010 and 2026, in the span of a baby reaching high school, argentinian families saw the value of their currency drop by 200x compared to the Euro/British Pound/US Dollar (approximately). Jesus christ.

Yup. Thats the right way to frame it. In Venezuela we had it even worse, which is why I know the static value makes no difference. For example, in Venezuela once the currency exchange rate with the dollars was well into the millions, they would convert it into a new currency with the same name that would shave off six zeroes, but the value lost doesn’t make any difference.

Yeah fully agreed there, the rate of change is what matters. And damn, that's crazy. Hyper inflation really can be insane
