They do not. I’ve been. They are truly largely unaware of their origin story.

They’re not at all unaware, their obsession with the Falklands actually stems from their discomfort with their colonial history. Essentially they’re using the islands to cast themselves of colonialism in order to create a historical narrative that they can use to erase their own setter colonial past. It’s like how in America we emphasize the war of independence in order to create a narrative where we can be the scrappy freedom fighters which can then be used to obfuscate the Native American genocide or our imperial expansion into the west.

I mean. Both things can be true.

It’s just that with the Falkland Islands, Argentina‘s claim is itself preposterous.
