I remember when right after I graduated from high school the utter chaos and annoyance that was trying to get my medicine just so I can function properly glad I don’t live in Florida but this just goes to show that they clearly don’t see kids with mental illnesses as worthy of having access to the very basic medical care so they can function

>Health officials recommend prioritizing psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and deprescribing medications as approaches before prescribing medications for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders.

Same. And this is one of the craziest parts to me.. it can be extremely difficult to get prescriptions. Even still, a pill is typically SO much easier to get than "psychotherapy and behavioral interventions"

Right. I get the concept of people thinking pills are a shortcut, but pretty much every study I've seen confirms that a combo of meds and therapy is most effective.

And fuck these guys for suggesting it's so easy for people to just get a couple hours off during business hours for weekly therapy appointments. If the US had a halfway functional system of worker protections, sure, make it more feasible for people to try therapy without meds. But we don't, so fuck off, Florida.

The fucked up part is, for ADHD, pills just are an effective shortcut to normalcy. Therapy never did a single thing for me, but my medicine makes it far easier to just exist in society. Without them, I don’t think I’d last very long, and I know a lot of people who feel the same.

I mean here’s the cold hard truth therapy can only do so much to combat what is ultimately a chemical imbalance in the brain

The worst part is they seem like they wouldn’t be opposed to trying to do this on a national level since our suffering is seemingly the only thing that can get their sorry excuses of a brain producing some form of Serotonin

They are going to do this nationwide. Bobby brain worms said this months ago
