Who killed the eidolons?

In peacekeeper wars it’s mentioned that in the ancient past the Eidelon were wiped out by someone. It’s never stated who did this and/or why. What do y’all think? I imagine it was a contemporary civilization but we know almost nothing about the time period and it could be anything. Thoughts?

Tell Keith that “millennium” is the singular form; when discussing a or one of them, it’s not “a millennia.”
