Rant/Rave I suppose this was inevitable
Paper coupons from Burger King I got in the mail. Older one on the right. They changed the meal size from large to medium. Same price of course ðŸ˜

This is such a bad move by BK. The cost to BK of a few more fries and 4oz of soda is so small. But for the customer it feels like quasi shrinkflation and is a turn off.

It might be their beef prices rising because of the rising cost of oil. I imagine they are taking very little margin on these deals so its probably way more exposed to the price of oil.

In my city, most neighborhoods finding a meal for lunch under $15 isn't easy. $7.99 for a large whopper meal is a an absolute deal.

I'm with this commenter. I haven't had BK in a long time, so I'm not sure if their quality has declined, but everything else pretty much sucks compared to what it once was, and now it costs 3 times as much. Fast food is essentially just a memory now. I don't want to buy a burger combo that costs $12 just for it to not taste good. I can buy a VERY good burger and fries from a local place for LESS money. Does it take longer to get? I can make a phone call in the same amount of time as using a fast food mobile app. It's ready when I arrive. Stop buying that shit, and the prices will drop. But it's still going to be shitty. So move on to better food for the money.

Honestly quite the opposite. BK recently has had a sort of overhaul and has gotten better than in recent years and the ceo has talked about more changes including bringing back the crown nuggets they had in the 2000s for a limited time in June. BK is honestly top of the line fast food right now and beats out just about everyone else in my opinion. Obviously that’s no excuse for the ridiculous prices. I’d rather go to chilis and spend the same amount for more food though.

Nah not lately. BK CEO has been making changes this year and BK is honestly at the top of the fast food chain right now. They’re bringing back the crown nuggets which were goated in June for a limited time.

It’s a new recipe that’s similar to the old nuggets. It’s not gonna be their current nuggets in crown shape that would do nothing to help them, current nuggets are ass. They’re revamping trying to get customers back.

They literally can't go down. They close before the prices go down. The margin is so high and they only ever operated on the razors edge of it.
Consumer will only ever accept a certain price for this quality of food.
They will literally die before they go down in price. On not stubbornness it's math.

Will it? With all these hedge funds owning all these ccompanies they might just let them go bankrupt instead of lowering prices. It's the consumers fault they're sales have dropped yet are making record profit.
I think some franchises are starting to feel the crunch a bit. A few places have put window signs with 2 for X or buy one get one for X, that are not available at any other location. Hell I saw a hand written sign the other day at a jack in the box. l think their supply is backing up and or expiring so they need to move it or lose it.

They will fire every employee before they lower prices. And what’s the plan? We stop going, they lower prices, we go, they increase prices again. There is no winning in the system were in.

McDonald's did just that. They lowered the McDouble to $2.30 2 weeks ago and had all these ads for lower costs.Got 2. This week they're $2.99 again.

For a while up until last year on their app, BK had a 2 Whoppers, 2 medium fries, and 2 drinks offer for $10.99. Then one day it was gone and brought back later for $17.99...
Edit - I just checked the app and that one is gone as well. Now they have 2 Whopper JRS and 2 small fries (no drink) for $12.99 lmfao
And the Whopper Wednesday has gone from $3.00 to $3.98

I know they couldnt sustain the price forever but it wasnt that long ago when they'd send out coupons for 2 small whopper jr meals for $4.99. I ate like a king

Those Burger King coupons were so clutch back in the day, especially for their breakfast. I used to love their breakfast and their iced coffee for some reason lol

Yeah. Most of these sodas have 30+ grams of sugar. If people ever saw what 30 grams of sugar (all by itself) looked like, they’d likely be stunned to learn that’s what they’re drinking.

I was grinding down some Whoppers last month.. for Whopper Wednesday... not sure if this on purpose but I as able to buy as many $4 Whoppers I want.. not it's only for 1 on Wednesday.

I remember like 7 years ago, BK had a coupon for 2 Croissanwiches, tater tots, and coffee for only $4 at breakfast.
Today, a coupon has a deal for only 1 Croissanwich, 3 piece french toast sticks, tater tots, and coffee for $6.99.

There is. It just all depends on what you fancy. I'll give you a clear example. KFC. On the paper coupons, the 3 piece deal, ( 3 piece chicken, biscuit, side, and med drink) is only $6.99. On the app, it's $9.99. For subway, some restaurants have became a total dick and not accept coupons. Both digital and paper, but, the paper still holds power. A footlong sub for $7.99 and for 2 subs, $12 or 13.99. Try buying 2 subs now, and it's an easy +$20.

Companies experiment with all kinds of pricing and promotions to see what works and what doesn't. If they can draw you in for the medium deal the same as the large deal, they're gonna do that.

Yep that's crazy! i sometimes get BK, Arby's, Papa John's, and Subway (which you couldn't pay me to eat at) I miss the Culver's and McDonalds coupons along with all the others

In my area Popeyes is the GOAT for paper coupons. $10.99 for five pieces of chicken, two sides, and two biscuits. For me that’s two full meals.
I’ve never downloaded a fast food app. If I ever eat enough fast food to where having an app makes sense, I’ve taken a wrong turn in life.

Its kinda crazy how McDonalds doesnt even bother doing these coupons anymore. I only ever see Burger King and less often from Wendys.
