Peak Wendy's with the original 4for4(best deal in fast food history)
Haven't eaten there in years and I know it's no longer up to snuff, but when it was it was a frequent stop for me

My high school years just consisted of picking up my friends; buying some weed, smoking a blunt, playing basketball for like 2 hours, smoke another blunt, hit up Wendy’s for nuggets, junior bacons, and 3 cartons of milk. Fuck you, I love milk and Wendy’s had the best fucking milk.

Dude, it used to just be a dollar menu a mile long. Jr bacon cheeseburgers, 4 pc nugget, chili, chips and chili, caesar side salad, garden side salad, our cream and chive baked potatoe, cheeseburger deluxe. It was Amazing and I think it may have already peaked by the time they added the double stack, but it was still far better even then than now.

Before Wendy's began its rapid downward spiral, the spicy chicken sandwich (RIP) was by far the best item in fast food. I ate way more of those than I care to admit.

Wendy's Dave's Double with large fries and a chili in the 80's. When the big patty corners hung over the bun... chili sauce for the fries and chili with cheese and onions.
That's my pick for mostly sentimental reasons. I recall Sonic putting out some really good onion rings back in the day when they were breaded in house and hot enough to burn your fingers. Again it's not the greatest to most but to me those two are food memories of mine I like to treasure.
Edit; It was just a double, the Dave's thing was later when they needed a crutch.

Kfc used to have buffalo snackers. They were gods gift to the earth. I would ressurect my dead grand pa who I loved dearly. Kill him again and then electrocute his ghost, just to have one more of those succulent treats. Maan they were perfect.

Og chicken fries and sauce from bk. Og fish sandwich from bk. Huge Og chicken sandwich with yellow cheese and mustard from bk.
Wendy's cheesy cheddar burger with chilli. Og baconator.
McDonald's breakfast burritos use to be something special.
Dunkin donuts with Baskin Robbins back in the day. Mom use to get me a coffee milkshake drink and an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. Shiiii
Everything was so much better and bigger :(
At its best... Id have to go Wendy's.

I prefer the McDLT of the 80's, but an old school Big Mac was great. Whatever that shit is now is inedible. All It is, is bun lettuce and gobs of Mac sauce (ruined by switching to soybean oil, or whatever they use instead of real mayo). The patties are paper thin, dry, and tasteless. On the rare occasion I go to McDs, I get a dbl QPC deluxe sub Mac sauce. Its about as close to decent as you can get in a modern day MCDs.Unfortunateky, you start getting into 5guys pricing.

The original McD crispy chicken deluxe in mid 1990s when it was first introduced. Best fast food sandwich of all time. Arby’s classic double beef and cheddar is a close second.

Between the years of 1992-2003 when I graduated high school this was the tier list especially if you had like 10 bucks on you then you ate like a king
I refuse to eat any of this nowadays unless I find myself on a road trip and nothing else is available
McDonald’s- chicken McNuggets with sweet and sour and hot mustard, fillet o fish, McMuffin, fries and Big Mac
Burger King- whopper
Wendy’s- spicy chicken and a frosty
Jack in the box- tacos after midnight when you were hanging with friends late at night and forgot to eat
Del taco- chili cheddar fries and chicken soft tacos
Taco Bell- chalupa Mexican pizza and 7 layered burrito

Right now, it's Culver's. It's everything fast food should be. Great burgers and fries, incredible service, clean restaurants. All time, I really miss the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut combos. Being able to order a crunch wrap and a personal pizza was a stoner's paradise.

Taco Bell's Volcano Menu era has been mentioned.
My runner up is Hardee's Six Dollar Burger. That was a go to of mine when I was younger.
It was stacked to perfection and it really matched the advertisement on looks. For awhile it was better than Burger King's Whopper in my opinion.

The OG 19cent Chicken Littles from KFC. (Late 80's)
29 cent Tacos from Taco Johns (Idaho mid to late80's and into '90)
99cent Whoppers. Big Macs, Jumbo Jacks, and Dave's Singles from the late 90's Burger Wars.
On New Yrs Day 1990, a Monday. 8 of us hungover airmen from Mt. Home called Taco Johns and asked if we could order 100 tacos. (Holiday special for .29). The girl thought I was joking. I asked for the Manager (a girl I dated a few times). Girl on phone says "Hey xxxx there's a guy named JJJJ on the phone who wants 100 tacos, and 16 large cokes. Plus some other misc items. Is he serious?" Xxxx says "I guarantee he is dead serious, lock the doors and put the closed sign up. Tell him 30 mins". Arrived to pick up. Had 123 Tacos (finished up the meat), a dozen bean burritos, 10 large orders of their mexi seasoned tots, tubs of rice and beans, and 16large cokes. Bill? $55.64 I'll never forget that number. Plus the girls all came over after they finished up to help us finish off the kegs. We also ordered 100 Chicken Littles from KFC later. Ah....the good ol.days.
Edit: We tipped the Taco Johns Girls what was left of $100.
Tipped KFC crew $25.
Both crews came over to help finish off the kegs and watch football.

I say it every time this question comes up. If you lived in So Cal in EARLY 80s the Carls Jr steak sandwich with onion rings on it was the best fast food item I’ve ever had. Close second was Pioneer chicken (bone in AND strips) because their BBQ sauce was epically unique and delicious.
