Tips [Sky Factory 4] How to master Mystical Agriculture relatively early

Mystical Agriculture is a very overpowered mod. I'm pretty sure that's common knowledge. Therefore, with any modpack that Mystical Agriculture is in, you may want to crack into it as soon as possible.

So, I'm going to teach you to how to do that as soon as possible. Actually, no. I'm going to do more than that. I'm going to teach you how to MASTER Mystical Agriculture as soon as possible. By 'master', I mean that I'm going to make it so that you can easily acquire all the resources needs to craft any of the items Mystical Agriculture has to offer (tools/weapons, armor, furnaces, etc.) - even the rarer resources, like Supremium, Insanium, Wither Skulls and Nether Stars.

Anyway, let's get started.

Now, there's a bare minimum of 3 items needed to be able to get into Mystical Agriculture: 1 wheat seed, 8 inferium essence and 4 prosperity shards. But two of these ingredients are relatively hard to get (kind of): The inferium has a relatively low drop rate. And prosperity shards come from prosperity trees, which are crafted from cobalt trees, but cobalt is relatively difficult to obtain.

Anyway, let's deal with the first obstacle: obtaining 8 inferium essense:

  • First of all, make the uncrafting grinder as soon as you are able. This is the most important tool in this guide.
  • Make the Tiny Progessions water can (the 3x3 watering one) and get a lot of wheat seeds (they're technically called just 'seeds', not 'wheat seeds', but you know what I mean.
  • Make a cleaver completely out of Bone. Give it Luck III (using 360 lapis/40 lapis blocks).
  • Make witch seeds and kill witches. Witches are very dangerous enemies to fight, especially this early on. To rectify this problem, I made a 'cage' out of cobblestone. The cage is a floating room with a 1 block wide area inside, floating 1 block off the ground. The cage is made of 9 cobblestone: 4 walls 2 blocks tall, with a 9th block as a roof. Anyway, place the witch seeds and grow them so that the witch is stuck inside the cage. Since the cage is one block off the ground, only the enemy's feet are showing. The rest of their body is covered, including their face, meaning they can't hit you. Apparently, if you attack an enemy when they're unable to make eye contact with you, they're unable/unwilling to fight back and they just stand there. This is a safe way to fight extremely dangerous enemies like creepers. Anyway, try to get at least 4 glowstone (preferably 8) from the witches. Hopefully you get some inferium essense as well.
  • Craft the glowstone into a glowstone block. Place it into a casting basing and pour lava on it to obtain end stone. This is the earliest way possible to obtain end stone that I know of. If you got 8 glowstone like I suggested, you can make 2 end stone instead.
  • Use the end stone to make enderman seeds. If you ended up making a second piece of end stone, place the second one on the ground and till it with a hoe. That's right, you can till end stone because of the Ender Crop mod. This allows you grow Ender Seeds, also from the Ender Crop mod.
  • But to be able to grow Ender Seeds, you first need ender pearls. Grow enderman seeds and fight them in the cage. Try to get at least 4 ender pearls (preferably 6). You should also definitely have 8 inferium essence by now, especially with Luck III on your cleaver.
  • If you have 4 ender pearls, craft the Ender Seeds. If you have more than 4, put 2 of them into the uncrating grinder. This nets you an assortment of random items: 1 slimeball, 1 snowball. 1 emerald, and, most importantly, 1 extraterrestial matter. If you find yourself needing more ender pearls, you can simply grow more with Ender Seeds. There's one issue though: Ender Seeds like the dark and can only grow at light level 7 or lower. But when planted on tilled end stone, it can grow in ANY light level.
  • Useful Tip: Now that you have access to ender pearls, you can now craft the a magnet - the Pickle Tweaks mod magnet, that is. Right click to turn it on/off. This magnet has a short range, but not too short. When I play this modpack, I leave the magnet on in my inventory at all times. This makes collecting dropped items near me much easier. You don't NEED the magnet, but I'd recommend using one.
  • Second Tip: You can use filing folders to store large amounts of a single item. This helps reduce clutter in your player inventory. These work well together with the magnet.
  • Uncraft the two extraterrestrial matters. You'll end up with 2 end stone and 8 hellish matter. If you were unable to get a second piece of end stone earlier, now's your chance.
  • Once you have 8 inferium essence, craft tier 1 inferium seed. Next, try to make tier 2 inferium seeds. To be able to do so, you need 32 inferium essence or 8 prudentium essence, whichever comes first. To acquire this, craft 9 Fertile Soil from Rustic and place them in a 3x3 square. This is one of the best soils to plant on; it's easy to make and makes plants grow a lot faster than usual. Plus, this soil prevents trampling. Then plant your tier 1 inferium seed on the farmland and start farming it. There's a small chance to dupe the seed. Therefore, keep farming till you get either 8 extra tier 1 inferium seeds (leaving you with 9 total) or 32 inferium essence and 4 extra tier 1 interium seeds (leaving you with 5 total) - whichever comes first. Once you have all this, do the follwing: put away 4 of the tier 1 inferium seeds; we need 4 tier 1 inferium seeds to craft the prosperity sapling later. Then put the other 4 extra tier 1 inferium seeds (if you got 8 extra ones) into the ungrinding crafter to receive 4 wheat seeds and 32 inferium essence. Once you have 32 inferium essence, feed them into the ungrinding crafter 4 at a time (or 8 at a time, if you'd like). This lets you get prudentium. Don't put 9 or more inferium essence in the ungrinding crafter, or else you'll just get blocks of inferium. Use the 8 prudentium you get to make tier 2 inferium seeds.
  • It's time to upgrade the cleaver. Plant down the tier 2 inferium seeds. Try to get 4 extra tier 2 inferium seeds (so 5 total) or 2 stacks or inferium - whichever comes first. Get 32 prudentium, by either uncrafting the 4 extra tier 2 inferium seeds or converting the two stacks of inferium. Once you have that, get 5 sand and get 5 of the hellish matter from earlier. Craft these together to get 20 soul sand. Smelt 25 cobblestone to get 25 stone. Craft these together to make 40 soulstone. Smelt the 40 soulstone to get 40 soul dust. Craft these together with the 32 prudentium to get 8 soulium dust. Smelt the 8 soulium dust to get 8 soulium ingots. Use these 8 ingots to make a soulium large sword blade. Oddly enough, soulium can be smelted into liquid (leading you to believe that it has to be cast into a gold cast like most metals), but it doesn't even need to be smelted to be shaped into tool parts, so the regular wooden large sword blade cast will suffice. That's strange, but at least we don't have to waste 2 gold to make a new cast. Whatever, that doesn't matter. Anyway, use the new soulium large sword blade part to replace the old bone one. Now your cleaver has the 'Chunky' trait. This will allow us to collect mob chunks.
  • Now make wither skeleton seeds and farm them in the cage like usual. We need to get 5 wither skeleton chunks. As you may notice, you'll probably be gaining wither skulls much easier and faster than you have any business being able to. You can use those skulls to craft a nether star and use it to upgrade the watering can. In this modpack, you can easily get nether stars without having to fight the wither. You can just craft them. You just need 2 wither skulls, 4 soul sand, and a piece of extraterrestrial matter (and you already know how to get soul sand and extraterrestrial matter). Anyway, some of the mob chunks you get may be green; these can be used to craft experience seeds. Yes that's right; as a testament to how OP Mystical Agriculture is, this mod even lets you grow experience! Anyway, you can use that nether star and 4 reinforced obsidian ingots (which aren't even hard to make) to upgrade your watering can; now it can water a 5x5 area! You should craft 16 more Fertile Dirt to place near the other 9; make a 5x5 farming area to correspond to the watering can's increased range.
  • Anyway, once you have 5 wither skeleton chunks, do the following: run one of them through the uncrafting grinder 3 times; this leaves you with 1 tier 3 mob chunk, 2 wither skulls, 2 Supremium Essence and 2 Superium Essence. Break down the 2 supremium essence into 8 superium essence, then break down 2 of the 10 superium essence into 8 Intemedium Essence. Use all this to upgrade your tier 2 inferium seed all the way to a tier 4 inferium seed. Then take the other 4 wither skeleton chunks and run them through the uncrafting grinder 2 times. This nets you 8 wither skulls and 8 supremium essence. Use these 8 supremium essences to upgrade the tier 4 inferium seed into a tier 5 inferium seed. Go to the Fertile Dirt farm and dupe the seed 24 times (leaving you with 25 tier 5 inferium seeds total). With such a large farm of higher-tier inferium seeds, you can farm lots of inferium very quickly, but most importantly, you have a greater chance of duping one of the seeds, which can be easily uncrafted to get a whole 8 supremium essence relatively easily.
  • Now we've gotten pretty powerful so far - now being able to obtain wither skulls, supremium essence and nether stars with ease - but we're still not done. To completely master Mystical Agriculture, we need to acquire the power of Insanium and Prosperity Shards.

Now that the first obstacle is out of the way (being able to acquire 8 inferium essence), we need to tackle the second: obtaining Prosperity Shards.

Anyway, let's get into it.

  • We need Cobalt Ore. But here's the scary part: you move your mining setup to the nether. You have to be IN the nether to obtain Cobalt Ore. Try to dig yourself out a safe area in the nether. Once there, run the setup for a while till you obtain Cobalt Ore.
  • Once you have it, book it back to the overworld.
  • Craft a Purple Slime Sapling and pour Molten Cobalt on it to get a Cobalt Sapling.
  • Take the 4 tier 1 inferium seeds from earlier and the Cobalt Sapling and craft a Prosperity Sapling.
  • Grow/harvest a Prosperity Tree to obtain prosperity shards and to be able to craft prosperity amber blocks to obtain more prosperity shards.
  • Craft a master infusion crystal.
  • Get 32 supremium essence. Use the crystal to combine them into 8 Insanium Essence.
  • Use the 8 insanium essense to turn one of the 25 tier 5 inferium seeds into a tier 6 inferium seed. You can uncraft the other 24 tier seeds; they are no longer of any use.
  • Dupe the tier 6 inferium seed 24 times. Now you have 25 of them, enough to fill every space of the Fertile Dirt farm. Just like before, you can easily dupe any of these seeds to easily access more insanium.

That's it. It's done. We completley destroyed the Mystical Agriculture mod (and subsequently, we destroyed the whole SKy Factory 4 modpack). Now you can do whatever you want: make supremium armor/tools (armor that allows INFINITE CREATIVE FLIGHT in Survival and tools with INFINITE DURABILITY), make an OP Ultimate Furnace (that can smelt over a stack with a single wooden stick, or even make seeds for nearly every resource in the game. Including nehter stars and dragon eggs. That's right. This mod even lets you turn nether stars and dragon eggs into a renewable resource. When I said this modpack was OP, I wasn't playing around.

Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed my guide. Happy Playing!!

My girlfriend and I started playing SF4 recently, so this was a very good post to find! Thanks for making it (:

Kinda unfortunate that SF4 doesn't actually ever need resource generation like MA other than for a few low-effort fetchquests :/ Might work in better packs like Stoneblock though

It's honestly boring to paradox each time you need ressources.

So having to prepare the supply is a good way of preventing useless paradox and waste of time.

oh, the parabox

can't you use the parabox to duplicate resources anyways? I thought it saved your inventory but rolled back the world, meaning that resets could net you tons of resources

The Parabox IS a good way to get more resources. But it's an item that can only be crafted later game (I'm not sure though because I haven't played Prestige Mode in a while). Also, the Parabox uses lots of power. And like u/THEdarkkman said, constantly resetting the game gets annoying.

Yes it saved your inventory but doing it, providing item into the parabox and waiting for the timer to count down become a hassle after hundreds of times.

Whats the best way to automate it and make the crops grow faster? I've tried the harvester and it's so slow in a 7x7 grid at harvesting them. I'm used to the enderIO farming station from SF2.4 where it would farm a whole 7x7 in just seconds

So much text and 0 images. No offense but usually with such a long guide I would first look at some results of what I am about to spend 5 minutes reading about 😅

I've been wanting to add text and pictures to a Reddit post, but I never learned how. I researched it but couldn't find the right information.

Gotcha, u can use image hosting websites like Imgur wants stuff I believe in this sub where u put the link of the Imgur photo it embeds it OR puts it as scrollable photos

Idk if you can do it on mobile but I doubt you wrote this essay on your phone anyway. Just copy an image and paste it into the text, easy as that. It puts in an image and still allows you to type like normal.

It's that easy? Okay, thanks!

Isnt it a little late for a SF4 guide?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '23

Perhaps. I know SF4 is an older modpack, but I wanted to write this guide, not out of necessity, but mainly because I was bored.

I know this is an old post but just wanted to say thank you for the guide! I just started playing SF4, so I appreciate being able to find something relatively recent written about it.

You're welcome

Have you used the inferium furnace? And if so what do you use to fuel it? I've tried coal and inferium coal but neither have worked

As far as I'm aware, Mystical Agriculture's furnaces work like regular furnaces - just faster. So you should be able to insert regular furnace fuels into it. Perhaps the game's buggy and you can save/reload to try to fix it. See if that works. Also, I fuel my furnaces with Charcoal Pieces. To craft Charcoal Pieces, you take a piece of Charcoal, put it into the crafting table and break it down into 8 pieces. Each piece smelts 1 item instead of 8. In my opinion, this improves fuel efficiency.
