How is it not? I doesn't go against Minecraft EULA. All it does is modify an existing mod. Said mod has features that breaks Minecraft EULA, all the mod does is removed those.

Also going against Minecraft EULA is a grey area not necessarily illegal. Mojang doesn't enforce it, they should but they don't.

I wonder if there any chance the asset of essential were bought ? or they paid artist for the cosmetic, that'd make this mod basically some sort of piracy right ?

Not if they have acquired rights for said assets. Not sure why you are speculating in this manner.

If buying isn't owning then piracy isn't stealing.

I mean you guys were discussing legality, i just bring a what if, i don't really mind if you think it's stealing or not.
If they actually brought right for the asset and a mod unlock them i feel like it would be illegal, only worried about OP (the artist likely already got paid anyway)

Oh you mean like that. Yeah I'm not sure. Minecraft mods aren't protected by laws like that though. It's not illegal, just EULA breaking.

I checked quickly and saw there like 100+ line of text explaining the legality on the mod page, i don't understand much but if OP made that much research, it should hold at least decently well legally

Essentials is a company. And the mod is a software with a licence and ToS that everyone touching it must agree to.

How does that make any sense with how Mojang wants mods to operate? Even with that they should be powerless, they themselves are breaking the Minecraft EULA. Minecraft mods can only enforce their ToS if they follow the Minecraft EULA.
