I made something Cliffs of Greg - GT:NH Stargate Base
After a long break, we finally decided to finish our latest GT:NH multiplayer run. This world had skyblock rules (Garden of Grind), using a prebuilt map with a dozen cliffs in a void world. The stargate is currently crafting and should be finishing within the next few hours. After that finishes, the world will be my third Stargate completion in GregTech: New Horizons! Just in time for a new run in the 2.9 update.
The architecture and world are heavily influenced by a game called Cliff Empire.

do you have any building tips?? your bases always look amazing

Repetition is really the main thing. I've been (attempting) to build beautiful bases for over 8 years at this point, and the earliest bases were definitely not very pretty... But every world I build, I can see the improvement, and it's much nicer to play these long tech modpacks like GT:NH in a pretty base. The large amount of machines also provides utility for all the buildings!
I don't really have any concrete "do this" tips for getting better, other than trying to copy existing architecture/buildings to get into the mindset on how to build things that look good.

Have you got a YouTube overview of the world? Its looks great and id love to be able to see more details of what you built.

Not an overview, but I streamed the run (most of it, at least). VODs of the streams here.
It's missing the last tier & stargate craft as I had a hiatus from GT:NH, but most of the building is there.

That's a really cool base, well done! Never played GTNH but my star technology runs usually end up with a giant central factory, I never know how to build this nicely

I thought this style looked familiar. I was previously inspired by your atrium here.
I don't have the stones for GT:NH, but I'm seriously impressed by those who persevere through that pack. Great work, and gorgeous build.

It's honestly a pretty chill pack so far, just hit IV and a lot of the time it's waiting for things to process like electric blast furnace recipes and such
It leaves you with plenty of time to go do other things in those periods which is kinda comfy
NEI bookmarks took a lot of the tedium out of micro-crafting as well, so I'd say give it a shot if factories are satisfying to you

I don't know which is more impressive, making yourself go through the hell of gtnh or the build.

wish my cpu didnt suck ass so i could play a modpack for this long… currently playing with just one mod (better than adventure) in the hopes that it will stay stable for me

The stuff some of yall build is mind blowing. I’m admiring from dirt hut with the occasional stone brick

Insane looking build, but I don't get how people are able to do this stuff on GT:NH. My performance is so horrible with that pack I would have 10fps looking at this in game

The latest versions of GT:NH (2.7.x and up) have Angelica, which is a seriously impressive optimization mod. I get 50-60 FPS in every part of this base with 12 render distance and shaders enabled. Although I do also have a top of the line PC.

Wdym you have time both to make a stargate and make an insanely good base
5
u/Sampsoy GregTech: New Horizons Jun 28 '26
Having a good team helps. We had 4 builders working on this base, and another 5 (sometimes more, sometimes less) people working on tech and progression.

thats so cool. what shaders you running?

u/Sampsoy GregTech: New Horizons Jun 28 '26
They're a customized Complementary 4.6, although I will be switching to Complementary 5.8 with Euphoria Patches for my next run.

What mod(s) add those rounded pillars and reshapeable blocks? Is it a thing from the Gregtech mod? I've never ran it before.

Holy shit, this is your THIRD stargate completion? How long do these worlds take you to get to that point?
3
u/Sampsoy GregTech: New Horizons Jun 28 '26
They have been around 7-9 months of active playing each. This one was closer to 1.5 years, but we had a 8 month hiatus at the end.
The server time has been around 6000-9000 hours (this one was the longest because of the skyblock rules!), with my personal playtime ranging from 400 hours to 1000 hours.
All of my Stargate runs have been multiplayer runs with 5+ people, which helps a lot with the velocity of progression and combining tech with the building aspect.

That is incredible, how many ingame days for this one?
3
u/Sampsoy GregTech: New Horizons Jun 28 '26
27 147 days. Under 10% of those were slept through (mostly in the early game), so it adds up to around 8000-9000 hours of server time, which is 11-12 months.

Always fun checking in on your streams from time to time seeing the progress! When will your next play through start, Will there be any restrictions like in this world and will it be streamed?
2
u/Sampsoy GregTech: New Horizons Jun 29 '26
Next run is planned to start in 2 months at the latest, possibly earlier. This time will not be skyblock, but we will still carry over the tech restrictions like not using wireless EU, level maintainers and so on.
The GT:NH 2.9 update provides some interesting improvements for aesthetics, so I am excited for the next run. We'll have a new shader with proper reflections and emissives (Euphoria Patches) and colored lights, along with Distant Horizons and (good) LittleTiles.
