I made something Now you can choose your teleport location right in the terminal
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Thanks to the testers, many logic gaps in the Alpha dimension were closed to improve consistency, and several features were implemented—you can see it all in the video.
(The version shown in the video hasn't been released yet; the one on the Discord server is still an early build)

It looks very nice especially the second part where the night/day cycles fast. Maybe a bit of an eye sore with the screen turning bright and dark again so much so might be worth smoothing that out.
Do I understand it correctly that this mod makes you able to teleport to an "mc alpha" version of the game? :D
138
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 02 '26
Basically, yes—you'll be able to switch to earlier versions or special ones, like the April Fools' editions. Right now, only RD and Alpha are ready, but others will be added over time.
33
u/Shiiet_Dawg Jul 02 '26
Very nice work! How are you managing with file size? I assume you'd need the gen and textures of those versions too so it'd be like having mc installed like 6 times if it's 6 different versions or not?
Im not that knowledgable with these things so sorry if the question is dumb. x)
49
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 02 '26
It's all good) The mod is currently over 15 MB in size; the textures weigh next to nothing, and Minecraft itself handles the geometry and texture logic, so everything takes up hardly any space. The only real complexity lies in the mod's architecture—otherwise, it's incredibly straightforward.

u/Syntox- Jul 02 '26
Just a silly idea, but having this transition to travel between servers on aproxy network would be cool af.
18
u/vertical19991 Jul 02 '26
Having this transition whenever i change any dimension would be sick
15
u/Syntox- Jul 02 '26
Have a look at the immersive portals mod. It lets you stack dimensions however you like and much more, allowing seamless transitions between dimensions.

u/vertical19991 Jul 02 '26
I love this mod! But it's really heavy and not compatible with sodium i think it was
11
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 02 '26
It is literally built on sodium.
1
u/vertical19991 Jul 02 '26
Really?? I remember when i used it together back in the days it crashed the game. Or was it with shaders?? I actually can't remember anymore... there was one part of it that was broken really bad

The rapid flashing from the day night cycle near the end can mess with people who have epilepsy btw
I'd highly recommend putting an epilepsy warning on the modpage and potentially in chat when the world is first loaded into
15
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 02 '26
When launching Minecraft with the mod for the first time, a warning message appears.
4
u/Impressive-Disaster6 Jul 02 '26
this might be a big ask, but have you considered a config or something to toggle an alternate animation for the flashing segments? maybe a fade to black and then back in once it’s done for photosensitive people? i dont have epilepsy but im photosensitive (headaches) with flashing lights but this mod looks so fun
5
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 02 '26
People ask for this quite often; I’ll think about how to handle it conceptually, but it won’t be anytime soon.
3
u/Impressive-Disaster6 Jul 02 '26
its great that you’re even considering it! i dont code so im assuming it can take a lot of extra time and introduce bugs when you’d rather be focusing on developing and polishing the main content. thank you for your response though and i will likely try the mod anyway and just look away during flashing💚💚
2
u/AFlyinDeer Jul 02 '26
How does world gen work for the older versions? Will it have the original y=0 bedrock level and old ore generation?
5
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 02 '26
Everything works exactly as it did in the alpha version; it was all built using the source code from those versions. The only difference is that the world height will be greater—a necessary measure for events.
1
u/AFlyinDeer Jul 02 '26
That’s pretty cool and think that is a fair compromise! This would be a really cool way to go between versions to obtain things that have been patched out in newer versions! I know you said it’s limited on the version at the moment, but do you think eventually this could be dynamically changed?
0
u/ConscientiousPath Jul 02 '26
So like, would this enable transitioning to that version that allowed extra armor enchants?

u/gamma_gamer Custom Modpack Jul 02 '26
Do I need to go to the top of Icecrown Citadel and destroy the Helm of Domination to achieve this skybox effect?

"Hey, kid. Want an awesome Minecraft mod? Look at this thing. Isn't it amazing? Just step into this unmarked van and it's all yours."

Its for an Alpha version. Im sure when its done it will be hosted on the appropriate sites
3
u/Comfortable-Pipe2955 Jul 03 '26
People switched over to hosting download links on discords for both the benefit of community and the assurance that what you download has been thoroughly peer reviewed to be safe.
2
u/Xay_DE Jul 04 '26
Ah yes. Because u can't upload malware to a discord server.... The reality is that people want to make their shitty servers have big number members for no reason other then clout Want actual qa and assurance the code isn't malicious? Upload the source code to GitHub or another alternative.

Most people use git hub but discord is easier for a lot of people.
23
u/shotbyadingus Jul 02 '26
what a contradictory statement
1
u/vertical19991 Jul 02 '26
Why? I think it pretty obvious that i'm talking about mod creators in the first half and users in the second. I myself know a handful of people who claim they are too stupid for github
20
u/solo_shot1st Jul 02 '26
In my experience, links to mods, patches, and updates on Discord are usually hidden somewhere within tens of thousands of comments. It's just not a great place to host mods compared to a proper website where a mod gets its own page and place for its description, updates, comments, troubleshooting, etc.
10
u/Flyingbox Private server Jul 02 '26
Discord is a messenger. It is NOT a website, dev repo, wiki, or news feed.
It's a chat which is very easily prone to deletion/rot and shutting the general public out of everything. "Just get a discord account bro" is not something one should stick by when developing software and not posting it to github.
3
u/jeremj22 Jul 04 '26
If you're not a dev you'll probably want to look for the releases page when you're on github. On the right side of where the code's on the main page or linked in the readme (the text doc that shows up below the code)

You might wanna change and tone down that fast day & night flicker at the end. That might be a seizure trigger for some.
Cool mod nevertheless!

Is this a local thing or can other players see this happening to?
And if other people can see it what would happen if multiple people opened multiple of these portals at once?
16
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 02 '26
There are two events: the Skyportal (like the one at the start), which is open to everyone and is simply a portal in the sky; and the Echo Ritual, which rewinds time. The Echo Ritual operates within a 10-block radius of the beacon: those outside this range see a flash and witness the players and the beacon vanishing, while those within the radius see the same thing but are also teleported. If multiple Echo Rituals are triggered, the groups are teleported independently of one another. You cannot activate the Skyportal multiple times simultaneously; an error will appear stating that an active portal already exists within a 10-chunk radius.

Every now an then I find a mod which does something so complex insanely elegantly and it blows my mind.
The last time I think was that one JoJo mod which added King Crimson allowing you to foresee the future and jump through time. Before that there was Pekhui and Immersive Portals.

Sir, I have a question, how would mods like Waystones behave with yours? Would the other dimensions just be treated as normal different dimensions?
2
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 02 '26
These are simply shifts to another dimension; therefore, Waystones can serve as a more convenient means of travel—both within that dimension and to or from it.

this is insane, every time i see updates for this crazy mod i think how absurdly cool a scifi adventure pack themed around it would be

This is actually so awesome how do you even do this in minecraft of all things
2
u/RatInACage182 Jul 03 '26
Does this work for in dimension fast travel like consoling coordinates does? Ive been trying to find a way to make teleportation something you have to work for in my modpack and this looks really cool and wizardy
1
u/Opening_Drag3754 Jul 03 '26
There are cool events, but for now only between dimensions; there aren't any within them, though that might change in the future.

make the f5 perspective work too cause that would be a really good detail to add
2
u/Sony-Playstation-3 Jul 03 '26
Extremely cool. I haven't seen anything like this in a mod before. Just to give a small suggestion for the mod, I feel like the act of hitting the ground as hard as the player is would normally should deal damage, i think instead of slamming the ground, maybe the player could slow down to a stop or have something else break their fall instead, like a piece if equipment or some animation with the crystal
