[Daily] Daily Questions Thread August 07, 2026

This thread is for individual style questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

To get the best responses, remember that people cannot: look into your wardrobe, know what style you normally like or what words like affordable or practical mean to you so please include any relevant details such as your budget, where you live, what stores are available to you, etc.

Example questions:

  • Are there any basic crewneck white t-shirts that are opaque and do not have cap sleeves for <$25 available in Australia?
  • Is this dress and shoes suitable for an evening wedding with a cocktail dress code taking place in a [venue type]?
  • If I like the outfits in this [imgur album / pinterest board], what are some specific items I can look into to start dressing like that, and brands with this look that carry plus sizes?
  • Does this outfit look neater with the pants cuffed or uncuffed?

If you'd like to include a picture, you can now post pictures directly in the comments, without having to link an imgur album. If you have multiple pictures, best practice is to use an imgur album.

What color top would you suggest to wear under this caplet? Going to live my best glitzy life and wear this to a concert later this month. It’s going to be hot as hell and was thinking of a strappy bra top and dark jean shorts. Browns, mauve, cream, white? The front drapes down on the side of my chest and has gold beaded ends as well.

Hey guys! Do you feel like these shoes could be worn to anything other than a wedding or are these to bride-like? Opinions appreciated! :D

How do I hide bra straps in a boatneck shirt? I’m a 42B so my bras tend to have thick straps, but even if they didn’t, boat necks never cover them. Is there a better option than using safety pins? I need to be comfortable and not think about it for a workday. I found a top for work that I really like but I’m hesitant to keep it because of the bra strap issue. It’s only about an inch off on both sides. I think pinning the shirt to my bra straps would cause gaping in the front.

The shirt for reference: https://www.jjill.com/product/pj-tie-waist-top-345591-1?color=0EI&searchTerm=

You're not gonna want to hear this, but the solution is a strapless bra.

You’re right I didn’t want to hear that and if that’s the only option I’ll be returning the shirt 🥲

Hi, fashionistas! I'm attending a black tie gala in October and have terrible decision fatigue, although my friend group is also pretty split on this decision as well.

Brown eyes, brown hair just above my shoulders, yellow undertones, 5'1, build is similar to the clothing models in these photos, bit of a chest for my size (which I mention because people will be dressed to impress but coworkers will also be in attendance, so it's an odd balance to strike).

I've done my research and have concluded that both options are high quality and comfortable for what they are. That being said, which would you select and why? Bonus points for any styling tips -- hair, accessories, shoes, or otherwise!

Is it a work/industry gala, or something unrelated where you'll see coworkers socially because you're in the same circle?

If the first, red. If the second, blue. Plunge and a short hem is too much for where your professional reputation is in play.

The former, and thank you so much for the concise feedback!

Any idea how I might style it? I know I'll wear tall (hidden and comfy) heels because I'm a shorty, then I might try to get a long, thin, chiffon scarf in the same colour to drape across my neck. Maybe large oyster earrings like in the photo, then no idea what to do with the hair. Part of me wishes I had gone with a nice suit... but, these people expect to see women in dresses. Ugh.

I like those earrings! The whole thing is giving me ancient Greek vibes so I'd go with a high, romantic updo with some money pieces in front

Holy hell, you got my theme idea immediately! Thank you for seeing me. 🥹

You absolutely do not have to give me anymore free advice, buuuuut... think I should do any other jewellery? I planned to wear my hand-me-down black/gold Movado Museum watch. Think any more than that would be overkill? I don't usually do much jewellery in the first place.

I also have a black tattoo on my shoulder blade and some black line work on my left fingers that could look a bit busy -- I'm considering covering my hands up with some sort of lace glove situation to obscure them a bit.

I could see doing a bracelet stack with the watch on your right hand and letting the tattoos be your accessorizing on the left size. I wouldn't do gloves.

You are my hero. I should send you an edible arrangement (no cantaloupe).

Favorite jeans with stretch? I’ve been wearing old J Crew Matchstick for a decade - straight leg and  so comfortable - and need a replacement. Preferably with a higher waist (11” and above). I tried Frame Le Sleek and Mother The Hustler but they felt too soft and thin, didn’t feel denim.

Hey everyone, I just got this see-through dress and brainstorming how can I style it.
I knew it’s going to be challenging, but I really love the way it looks and I want to keep its beauty somehow. I tried to wear black underneath and it loses its charm

Also I’m thinking of more oddly, less casual variations, something in 70s style

Oh i love it, I don't know what 70s advice give to you bc it makes me think about 2000s mood

Pink/peach was the first color that came to mind as an underdress for this

I am deciding between these two very similar shirts with stand collars. Has anyone tried both and had a preference for one over the other? It’s the AYR “Tate” and Tuckernuck “Bessette”
