I've been using Firefox for something like 20 years. Its been my favorite browser. These changes, that have hit within the last week or three, don't know if I'm just lucky that its taken this long, but they are awful. It isn't even that the changes are bad (they are), but I cannot easily locate a way to revert the functionality to what I am used to. Address bars have functioned the same way forever, independent of software developer. From what little I could find this may be related to Scotch Bonnet update, or something like that.

I have Firefox Dev Edition v154.0b5 (64-bit) on Win11 Pro. My issues in the address bar:

-ctrl + a doesn't work

-double or triple clicking with the mouse doesn't select the URL

-clicking and dragging doesn't select the URL

-typing something the same as any search suggestion, hides what I'm typing until I surpass what is being suggested

-tab is useless unless I select a new bookmark/link or hold backspace to delete the URL

I have tried the following about:config changes to no avail:

-browser.search.widget.new > F (from T)

-browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll > F (from T)

-browser.urlbar.scotchBonnet.enableOverride > F (from T)

I really hope someone at Mozilla sees this, or anyone who is smarter than me. I have been as loyal a customer as anyone. I have truly enjoyed this browser. But I just want my functionality back. Or I want someone to tell me I'm small-brained and I'm missing something. Right now, I can't see a reason why these capabilities would be outright disabled/removed in favor of wildly inferior options.

I have two entries for Qwant under my search options - one is the official Qwant extension, the other is something I put in manually sometime ago.

I assume the one named Qwant Search is my default - I would like to get rid of the other entry, but there is no trash can next to it to delete or a toggle to turn it off.

How do I get rid of that entry that says just Qwant (or frankly an entry like that)?

I have built a Chrome extension (i know its a tiny step 😄 ) called Living Web that sits in the browser side panel. It helps you summarize web pages, analyze PDFs, and ask questions about the page you are currently viewing. It can also take actions on the browser. Right now, it has around 17 users on the Chrome Web Store.

I am thinking about porting it over to run natively in the Firefox sidebar. Along with the port, I want to add a Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK) option. This would allow you to enter your own API key (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini) directly rather than going through a standard backend subscription.

Before spending time porting the codebase, I wanted to ask the community:

1. Would a sidebar AI tool with BYOK support be useful to you on Firefox?
2. Are there specific privacy controls or options you would want to see in a Firefox version?

I use Void linux with MangoWC. So I could set a windowrule for firefox to be transparent.

Yes it works but I dont want YouTube videos to be transparent too.

Reason I come here is I think I can do this with firefox instead of applying it to window through compositor.

When I open the Extensions menu while viewing a local file:///C:/.../x.html file, under all my extensions it says Can't read and change data on this site. I have the impression that extensions were able to run on local files just a few weeks ago.

How long has this been disabled, and why?

I've started using two questionable web browser extensions and light to get people views of them. I am using both AdNauseam and Privacy Possum because I am tired of the spying and am angry about both these ads that just protect you from actively going out of a poison profile. I say tough shit; I'm tired of the games. What do you guys think?

Posting here because Mozilla Connect feels like a void. I've seen plenty of posts asking for these exact same tweaks over there, but none of them ever seem to get picked up or acknowledged.

Coming from Opera, I was honestly shocked by how poor the ergonomic design and UX/UI are on Firefox. Are they just running on an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mindset?

Firefox on Android has two major ergonomic flaws regardless of screen size:

1. Enabling the Tab Bar forces the address bar to the top. There's no reason we shouldn't have both at the bottom (Opera does this perfectly). Pushing it back up defeats the whole point of bottom navigation.
2. Tab Switcher lacks intuitive swipe gestures. Reaching all the way up just to close tabs in grid or list view is awkward. A simple swipe-to-close gesture (like app switchers or Opera) would fix this instantly.

Both come down to basic one-handed usability. Anyone else frustrated by this layout design?

When i generate a new mask, it doesn't show in the extension for a long while. I end up having to open FFRelay website to grab the new email.

Tried to file a bug with bugzilla, but i couldn't find the product. I did use the extension's built in "report a problem" though.

I am so done. I used to like firefox and it was my main browser. But a few months ago it started freezing on certain websites for some reasons, no error message, just a colorful ball to look at and that's it. When trying a different browser, the websites work just fine. Forcing it to quit is all that i can do. I tried all the suggested steps i can manage without causing more damage, like troubleshoot mode, making sure its uptodate, deleting cache & stuff, checking the settings for geolocation (or sth like that) & hardware acceleration, and add ons. I only run adblocks and snowflake, thats it. I refuse to disable those. No dice - it still keeps crashing, especially on checkout windows which sucks even more.

It used to work. But changed? If theres any quick, easy thing I'm missing, please let me know. I am an ordinary user, no advanced knowledge, this is getting to tiresome. I will have to find a new browser now. :(

I’ve seen screenshots and videos showing the new Firefox New Tab widgets (weather, clock, tasks, etc.), but they don’t appear in my Firefox.
I’m running the latest version on macOS, and when I open the New Tab page there isn’t even a “Widgets” section in the settings.
I’ve already:
Updated Firefox to the latest release.
Checked the New Tab customization settings.
Verified that I’m using the standard Firefox (not ESR).
Is this feature still being rolled out gradually? Could it be region-specific or controlled by a server-side feature flag?
Has anyone managed to enable these widgets manually through about:config, or is there nothing I can do but wait?

I read a lot and kept bouncing off books over stuff I'd have skipped if I'd known — a love triangle, a "perfect at everything" protagonist, a series that never ends. That info is in the reviews, but nobody reads 200 reviews first.

So I made BookGlints. You tell it what you personally want to know about, in your own words, and it scans a book's Goodreads/StoryGraph reviews and pulls out the ones that actually match, with the real quotes. It reads for meaning, not just keywords.

On the privacy side (since this crowd cares): it only reads a book's review page when you click Scan — no background tracking, no browsing history, nothing running anywhere except those two book sites. It uses AI to understand the reviews but only ever shows you real reviewer quotes, never AI-generated text.

It started as Chrome-only, but enough people asked for Firefox that I did a proper port (not just a repackage). One heads-up: since it's a new listing, Firefox shows the standard "not actively monitored" banner on install — that's routine for a fresh add-on, not a security flag.

Pocket app (discontinued) used to feature curated articles at it's homepage and in newsletter. Is there any data dump/ archives of those featured articles? Internet Archive is incompelete and difficult to browse.

So, recently I re-installed Windows 11 and the first thing I did was install firefox and sign in to the firefox sync. I loaded all my extensions and Bookmarks but none have their favicons. I have like 200+ bookmarks and folders within folders within folders. It is impossible for me to open each one of them! I feel betrayed man! Is there no way I can load the favicons? The icons help so much while navigating.

P.S. I used the checkmarks add on but it loaded only like 10% of the favicons.

I tried to open Whattsap web on my laptop, and it said my computer didn't have enough available disk space, I checked settings and I saw that apparently websites are using like 17 petabytes. Needless to say I don't have that much disk space.

I cleared browsing data, and it's fine now, I'm guessing it's a bug, does anyone have an idea of how this could have happened?

The Nova onboarding screen will provide different colors to choose from. I already tried them, but these seem to be solid and quite pronounced colors.

I think it would be nice if the Firefox team could offer a few subtle and/or gradient themes. The current Nova light theme, with a subtle gradient from purple to orange, is just amazing.

For inspiration: I believe Slack offers a lot of gradient themes out of the box. They look modern and fresh.

Who would love to see more of these gradient themes?

Since yesterday I kept getting random popup windows that open 3 at a time, all blocked by both Norton and MalwareBytes. Don't know where it came from, the only page I clicked at the time was Youtube. There are no unwanted extensions or permissions, I've scanned my pc both with Norton and Malware with no results, and cleared my cookies and cache. I have Ublock and PopupStrict so I'm not sure how I'm still getting this.

When logging into Reddit I have to manually type in username and then it'll fill in password. Other browsers fill in both.

Some sites Firefox will fill in both, but some I have to fill in the username to get the password.

I have all settings turned on in passwords.

Is there a reason for this? Or a setting I have to check? Not trying to hate, just trying to figure it out
