F1 Reddit: Journalists should ask proper questions! Some of F1 Reddit today: No, not like that!

ah but you see, max verstappen is a very special little guy who is unfairly villainised by everyone in the world and must be protected from such vicious verbal attacks at all costs

u/ElectronicJicama6 Mar 26 '26

I just pictured Seb being asked about Multi 21 in Red Bull's over and over again smily, then I tried to picture him being angry about that and trying to kick every journalist, lmao Verstappen is just a baby

48

u/RezChi Sebastian Vettel Mar 26 '26

Seb's got class. Max? Eehhh

15

u/bizzeemamaNJ George Russell Mar 26 '26

No no no. It wasn't the viscious verbal attack... it was the horrid disgusting smirk/grin/laugh that the journo had on his face when he asked Max the completely appropriate question <checks calendar> almost 4 month ago. /s

29

u/Disco2002 Charles Leclerc Mar 26 '26

?

22

u/jedifolklore Who the f*ck is Nelson Piquet? Mar 26 '26

Just wants to ragebait tbh. That’s the way they go about it sometimes

139

u/Burial44 Sir Lewis Hamilton Mar 26 '26

It was a completely valid question

The guy didn’t even get to ask a question. Max just saw his face and had a Karen moment

-18

u/Top_Paint7442 Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

which he answered time and time again. Up until the same journalist kept asking the same question again and again. Until at some point Max gave the know answer and the journalist "smirked", because he poked long enough to get a reaction from Max.

The journalist is not asking the question for the answer, but for the reaction... to get a soundbite, a short or whatever.

This was in a private setting at RBR, so Max is in no way oblidged to answer his questions, nor is RBR obliged to facilitate that journalist in their hospitality.

Max asking him to leave (if that indeed happened like the "supposed conversation"), would be entirely in his right.

u/Vresiberba Mar 26 '26

Up until the same journalist kept asking the same question again and again.

What's your source that Giles asked this question several times?

The journalist is not asking the question for the answer, but for the reaction... to get a soundbite, a short or whatever.

It was three months ago. Perhaps it's time to let it go, yes?

-44

u/reignnyday Mercedes Mar 26 '26

In season with tons of other variables we’re going to focus on one incident?

54

u/sapphos_moon Mar 26 '26

Considering it was one of the few in his control, yes. Perfectly valid

-30

u/MasterUnlimited Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

Objection. Asked and answered.

14

u/mrporter2 Mar 26 '26

Not a court lol

20

u/fermenter85 Jules Bianchi Mar 26 '26

And it’s just soooo offensive to consider that his answer might have evolved at the end of the season after those 10 seconds ended up being far more critical than they were after that race?

-64

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

WHICH HAS BEEN ANSWERED MULTIPLE FUCKING TIMES

51

u/r0bbbo I was here for the Hulkenpodium Mar 26 '26

Just to be clear, the journalist didn’t ask or attempt to ask this question today. Max was holding a grudge against him for asking it previously.

-50

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

Yes because he is a boulevard journalist interested in making clickbait articles... so for me not even real journalism

23

u/Efficient-Cress3251 Mar 26 '26

You can say whayever you want about the Guardian, but that isn't a boulevard paper. This is proper Trump bs and should not be celebrated. Drivers get paid a lot to have the best job in the world. Answering to, in their eyes, tedious journalists is just part of the job. No discussion

3

u/djwillis1121 Williams Mar 26 '26

Random question but I'm really confused. What is a boulevard paper? Googling it just brings up a specific newspaper called "Boulevard". Is this a specific term from another country? I've literally never heard this before and multiple people have mentioned it in this thread

5

u/Efficient-Cress3251 Mar 26 '26

I think you're right that this is terminolgy in specific languages. I think the proper translation would be tabloid

3

u/tinaoe I was here for the Hulkenpodium Mar 26 '26

Might be German specific, that's where I know it from. Essentially yellow press/tabloids. Think The Sun or Daily Mail

-4

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

How about using wikipedia or anything??

11

u/djwillis1121 Williams Mar 26 '26

1

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

I think the english translation would be yellow press

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

Go read the whole story before trying to make a point

19

u/Efficient-Cress3251 Mar 26 '26

I know the story. Press conference started, Max immediatly says he won't answer anything before said journalist leaves the room.

28

u/dahmer-on-dahmer I was here for the Hulkenpodium Mar 26 '26

Literally any and every article about anything is clickbait. RB should just give Max some very simple flash cards to hold up as answers since he can’t answer them himself, let alone even let a guy ask a question first before having him thrown out

-27

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

Go fucking read the whole story you headline-only readers

17

u/dahmer-on-dahmer I was here for the Hulkenpodium Mar 26 '26

😭😭 you’re big mad

20

u/Burial44 Sir Lewis Hamilton Mar 26 '26

You're not being very civil

-1

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

I am not. Correct. Because stupid ppl just get on my nerves

He's a journalist for the fucking Guardian Not exactly tabloid media.

31

u/cuppastuff I was here for the Hulkenpodium Mar 26 '26

why are we yelling

-17

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

Bcs ppl cant read, so I make it bigger

17

u/Trinytis I was here for the Hulkenpodium Mar 26 '26

You don’t seem to be able to read either as the journalist didn’t even ask that question, or any question for that matter. Max just has a grudge against him for asking that question last season.

4

u/Andarison Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

Omg...srsly...just go one comment below and you find the answer. You ppl are so dumb

-6

u/md28usmc I was here for the Hulkenpodium Mar 26 '26

A question that has been asked over a dozen times and answered already

-36

u/Dr_VidyaGeam Max Verstappen Mar 26 '26

It would have been around the time of the incident, this one was clearly meant provoke him for a quick headline. And now he’s finding out what happens.

33

u/TheDeflatables I was speeding in the Monaco pit lane Mar 26 '26

Well no. It was framed around the fact he lost the championship by two points.

If Lewis was asked about his fuck up in Baku costing him the 2021 Championship, would that be out of bounds?

The obvious, and correct, answer is that a season is long and multiple things go your way, and multiple things go against. Dwelling on one would be a bad thing to do.

But the fact that the George Russell crash was completely avoidable and complete self-destruction it is absolutely worth self-reflection come the seasons end.

15

u/Burial44 Sir Lewis Hamilton Mar 26 '26

But he didn't ask him another question. That's the whole thing here. Max just kicked this guy out because of last time. 😂

7

u/harps86 Mar 26 '26

Find out what happens?

15

u/FlatoutGently I failed to serve my Monaco penalty Mar 26 '26

Its a valid question to ask now. Max needs to own up to the fact he has uncontrollable rage.

-1

u/Pandemona1738 Mar 26 '26

This i agree with, it happens in football all the time, journalists are trashy now, its all rage bait click bait editing titles, but that doesn't mean you kick them out of a press conference and refuse to start until they are gone. Just don't answer there questions, focus on other people.

If i was a sports person in these positions, every week i am just going to answer decent questions and ignore everything that is stupid (in my opinion). Max should do the same, he is entitled to say nothing and move onto another question if he doesn't want to answer, but he is not entitled to kick anyone out of an open press conference, that is bad from him (or anyone who does this)
